I'm a spoiler free virgin here. This is about 100x more difficult than I thought it would be.

I just checked my NetNewsWire and I see 8 new unread stories from macrumors.com, and a bajillion from all the rest of the tech sites (Silicon Ally Insider, Engadget, Gizmodo, Slashdot, Macworld, Wired, Ars Techica, etc.)

I'm dying!

I'm proud to lurk among the l33t mac-heads at this moment... since we're just killin' time... maybe some of you can calm some recent challenges to my Faith in Mac....

I made the total conversion to mac in '02, haven't had a PC for 7 years... got a powerbook and a Mac Pro... and an iPhone...

But, especially regarding the iPhone, but also a few other things, Apple has made some decisions that have the whiff of Microsoftyness about them. I've been very tempted to jailbreak my iPhone; there are so many apps on there that seem to do *just what I want* and there's no alternative in the 'legit' iPhone world.... but, I'm not the kind of person who likes to fiddle with the innards of stuff to the degree that you have to to jailbreak.

But the whole phenomenon gives me the unpleasant whiff of trying to be too controlling, not embracing what the information revolution is all about. And so I'm worried that the GooglePhone folks have the real pulse on the long-term way to do stuff....

I'm looking to one of the next two keynotes to show me something to get excited about my allegiance again :)

it's all about Apple wanting to have control over the user experience. That's both a good thing and a bad thing. On a mac, and other Apple products you get a whole lot of stuff you can do really easily and mostly out of the box. But doing things Apple didn't forsee can be quite tricky. That's basically the compromise Apple has made to be the manufacturer they are today. Take away that level of control, and you sacrifice part of what makes their products so great to use.

I am also new to this whole spoiler free thing....I didnt know it would be this difficult.

I really hope that the prototype G3 Mac Mini (that they're apparently using to encode/upload this keynote) didn't crap out...:(

Be careful with those links. There is a high chance they will have spoilers on them.

The best bet is to wait for the DIRECT link. :)

still nothing, taking ages!

I think this link will be the one to follow, although for macworld 09 it does say:

Macworld Keynote 2009

Watch Philip Schiller, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Product Marketing, unveil Apple's latest innovations at Macworld 2009.

So hopefully it won't tell us too much!:(

Is there some brave soul out there who feels like tinkering with some urls to try and find the page that they will be putting it up on. For example, if the page for the quicktime link was keynote/2008/06/08 last year, then you might just have to change 2008 to 2009... or whatever.

I know for a lot of things that Apple does, they already have the new page created before hand, so all they need to do is link to the page when they want it to go 'live'.

Hey,

can someone explain to me how you guys can find the direct link to the video, although the official site is not online yet?

I've already started exploring that. So far www.apple.com/quicktime/qtv/wwdc09 does not work.

ive been watching pre-recorded shows all day and a get a mac ad just came on... i started freakin out till i remembered that the show was a couple weeks old

Longer Keynote = more camera edits, which involves syncing them to sound properly.

Also, longer encoding time (but not more than a minute or two).

We already have a brave soul doing that. His name is Voidness. He finds the direct URL for the keynote as soon as he possibly can and shares it with the rest of us.
