Apple today announced that it will hold its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) from June 6th-10th at the Moscone West convention center in San Francisco. Conference passes are on sale now for $1599, and are expected to sell out quickly given past years' trends.
Apple notes that it will hold over 100 technical sessions for developers, with over 1,000 Apple engineers on hand to provide support for attendees.

Apple unsurprisingly is billing the event as being for both iOS and Mac OS X developers equally, following last year's conference that saw a heavy emphasis on iOS development. Mac OS X is of course set to receive greater prominence this year due to the impending release of Mac OS X Lion.

The dates for WWDC 2011 do in fact nearly correspond to a "corporate meeting" discovered on the Moscone Center's event calendar in early February and suspected of representing the conference. The dates also match with a tentative multi-year convention calendar published by the San Francisco Convention and Visitors Bureau in April 2010.

Just the way the title is phrased though it lends support to the rumors that iOS will see a late summer / early fall release as opposed to June/July. We will see.

    iOS June preview only

This confirms that iOS 5 will be previewed in June and not in April like past years...

Can't wait to see what they announce. It would be nice to see a bigger jump than usual for iOS and hopefully a shipping date for Lion.

It really doesn't. WWDC costs over $1000 to attend and devs need to book hotel reservations etc. It's a very big deal for them so they are given enough time to get ready.

Im looking forward to the future of iOS.

If its good enough, I might even unjailbreak, still running 4.2.1 here, Ill miss it though, infinifolder, custom lockscreen, custom sounds.

Hopefully an iOS 5 Jailbreak will release soon after.

after all this hype if iOS 5 is just a small improvement that would be ludicrous.

I wonder if the iPhone 5 lines would merge with the iPad 2 lines?

My thoughts exactly. I've been awaiting the SB Lion OS iMacs for the longest time now. I cannot wait-looking forward to any more news on this front!

(Opps. My response was meant as a reply to Post# 13.)

From that price, you can better buy a Mac and watch it in QuikTime... :)
