I'd probably buy an Android phone. I do prefer iPhone's but I can't imagine having the same device for more then a year.

in all honesty, owning the iPhone makes all other phone options dissapear...Since 2008 when I first got the 3G, every phone I've used or held felt like a joke to me..can't wait for later today :apple:

I would buy Apple stock because it would have undoubtedly plummeted and will go back up once they do announce the new iPhone in a month or so.

Steve: We were going to announce a new iPhone today with a new radical sleek design, but then some fool left it in a bar and it got leaked. We decided to go back to the drawing board! Although this new iPhone looks exactly like the 3GS it's a bit quicker and has a special super compass!

Because WWDC this year had no iPhone announced.
I think it only makes logical sense for Apple as a company to not release a new phone so soon. With Verizon getting the phone in like February and the unlocked phones coming out THIS month...it makes no sense for Apple to release a new device until they have sold enough iPhone 4s across the board (AT&T, Verizon, and Unlocked). I think the best bet for any kind of iPhone being released this year would be September, if that. Personally, I'm thoroughly happy with my iPhone 4. There are some things I wish that I would have (a bigger screen, 8MP camera, etc.), but I should be happy enough to have a phone that JUST WORKS...with everything. iOS 5 really makes the phone experience 10x better in my opinion and I think all iPhone 4 owners will feel like they have a new device after upgrading (I know I did).

I am continually amazed at how us Americans think we are the center of the universe. You do realize that unlocked iPhones have been manufactured and sold in just about every other country since the 3G. All apple did is start shipping it in this country. NO skin off their nose and definitely not a reason for a delay.

also, the iphone is sold in over 100 countries. of those 100 countries only ONE of them got a verizon iPhone. Why, in the world would the re-release of the some model phone on a different carrier be grounds to delay the next generation. A change in a radio chip and a small antenna redesign does not need an 8 month cycle to recoup their money.

I think the delay is due to other things like a supply strain from the japan earthquake, or components not being ready in time. or that iOS 5 is behind schedule due to all the revamps and they want to release iPhone 5 with its 5th gen software counterpart.

It just seems pompous to me to believe that because we got a an unlocked phone (something the other countries have had for a long time) and a CDMA phone (something that the rest of the world could care less about) is ground to delay the next iphone to the rest of the world. No wonder other countries hate us.

Perfectly said. There should no reason a new iPhone wasn't even announced. At least announce it and release in September like iOS5....

exactly, verizon's iPhone has nothing to do with it, in the UK O2 lost its exclusivity and orange and vodafone released the 3GS in Febraury last year and then got the iPhone 4 in June, it did not damage sales at all, so as i said, the verizon phone would not have any bearing on it. They would have released an iPhone 5 in June if they were ready to and people would have queued up for it, it would have sold out.

Thanks, I would challenge anyone who disagrees with me to imagine this scenario.

China has one of the only other CDMA networks in the world. So lets pretend for a moment that back in February instead of Verizon getting the iphone it was China Telecom. Now jump back to present day and we are having the same conversation about the reason the iphone 5 is delayed, I submit that the fact that china telecom getting the phone never even enters out minds. Why?
Because Apple has been releasing to other carriers in other countries Mid-Cycle since the iPhone 3G. Never once did the fact that they released the phone in tenbucktwo just 4 months ago delay their plans for the next gen.

Yup I agree. In your opinion, what do you think about the next gen iPhone not even being announced? Was it so it doesn't hurt sales of the 4?

I find it amusing that some people are upset that Apple did not release a new iPhone as if they know how to run that company. Apple has a business model they follow which has been extremely successful. Apple will release a new iPhone when they feel it is necessary. People will wait in like to get the next iPhone no matter when it comes out Apple will advertise like heck to get you to buy and make you believe your life is not complete without one. It works every time.

Why wouldn't they add a cdma phone that adds another 300 million plus potentional buyers. You must forget apple only cares about the money

That has nothing to do with his point whatsoever.

n his last paragraph he states why does anyone else in the world care if there is a cdma iphone well 300 million plus would

He's clearly talking about people outside the United States (when he says "the rest of the world") which wouldn't use the CDMA iPhone. They probably don't care how much money Apple makes either.

Exactly!!

IDK. the sales thing is a real possibility. or maybe it just was not ready to show yet. Here is my theory, I think it just makes good business sense to release a world phone (GSM/CDMA). So, I think that they ran into some issues with antenna design to support both in one package. This coupled with any component delays due to the earthquake I think compounded and made a summer release impossible. I know they said that the earthquake did not effect them but I dont think they would have admitted it if it did to avoid negative stock fluctuations.

Again, just my personal theory.

Apple is in business to SELL things. And how many people would buy an iPhone 4 now if they had announced in June that there was going to be a September release of a new phone?

So you're saying that people buying 4s now will also be buying 5s? Or is the problem that the revenue would be delayed until the 5 is released and Apple cannot function until that point without iphone revenue?
