Apple is in business to SELL things. And how many people would buy an iPhone 4 now if they had announced in June that there was going to be a September release of a new phone?

So you didn't read my post properly then? If so you wouldn't have asked that question lol.

People bought the 3GS in the uk in February/March in high numbers when new networks got the phone even tho the 4 was coming out in june....

Logically, this long delay can only mean Apple is really going to knock our socks off with a complete re design. Reality, however, means it will probably be an iPhone 4 with a new chip and camera.

Because WWDC this year had no iPhone announced.

Except last year the update was widely expected, what with the leak and all, and this year, no one really expected announced this year.

Except those that chose not to believe the "Software Only!!!" and "No New Hardware!!!" messages coming out of Cupertino.

I understand what you are saying but I dont think that those that held out hope for new hardware chose not believe anything.

I do not recall Cupertino ever releasing a statment saying WWDC will be software "ONLY" I heard them say it would be focused on software, but in no way do I take that as Difinitively saying software would be it.It could have also ment that software was the focus and the hardware would be a minor update. Also, I dont think they ever said "NO NEW HARDWARE" That was all of the rumor sites and Bloggers saying that.

Please, If I am wrong I welcome any links you can provide to the contrary. I would be interested in seeing where Apple made these exact statements directly.

Youre not wrong. Tons of people take articles posted on MacRUMORS and the like as Apple press releases.

Plus I'll have an extra $250 in my wallet :)

Same :)

You have 2 sets of people when it comes to iPhone users:
1. Old 3gs owners who weren't able to upgrade to the iPhone 4 and want a new device asap
2. Current iPhone 4 owners who have the current latest and greatest and don't want their phone to be knocked off the top of the mountain (just yet)

I happen to fall into the 2nd group so I am REALLY happy that Apple has stalled the iPhone 5 until September, makes my phone that much more valuable for the next few months :D
