Its a well known fact that Steve gets the 'Married with Children' audience in for every speech he does. Hence the over the top reactions

ummm...i don't think they get to choose which developers register and which don't.

Lets be happy...

So all of your hopes and dreams weren't realized yesterday....big deal!!! Apple releases new updates, products, software, etc, an awful lot faster than anybody else out there!!! Just cause you can very easily imagine a PB G5, doesn't mean you can just as easily build one. You saw the stats on processor speed improvements, they doubled Intel.

Just be happy with what they did release, and get excited for what's coming. It'll show up someday.... :)

Just think that most of the disappointments will be address over the next year. We just need to be patient.

The only problem is, as soon as Apple address something... then the whole cycle starts again!

it's on ongoing issue though really isn't it... if Apple had announced a PowerBook G5 and a new form factor iMac G5 yesterday, then we'd have a select set of users that'd start the whole 'We're waiting for the next revision before we buy', and this would last months and months and months... it's like slashing ones wrists with blunt, rusty blades.

it seems like the winjing is never ending on here (not from you wdlove).

I'm finding MR to be a not very fun place to be at the moment. :(

You're absolutely right. I've found myself thinking "Why don't Apple do this and why don't they do that?", and then whining on forums about that. It's kinda part of speculation, but our dreams cannot always come true. Maybe they just have come true too often...

As for Apple's products, I don't think "waiting for the next rev." is very necessary. People should trust that Apple tests their products. But always you can of course wait for the next revision and buy the *EOL* model with a nice price. :D

There's always going to be disappointed people after these kind of events... that's to be expected. :)

But is there really any need for people to start umpteen threads about how incredibly disappointed they are.

Just sitting down and thinking logically about recent hardware updates would have demonstrated that it was unlikely that we'd see anything other than maybe an iMac or an iPod update at the WWDC, and even then if people had thought some more then they'd come to realise that Apples 2 most popular products would require and deserve either their own special event for a major update/revision or atleast a Keynote presentation for CONSUMERS at one of the Apple Expo's. If they're just going to get small, incremental updates then they'll have a non-descript update on a Tuesday/Wednesday.

Everytime we come to a Keynote though, it's like people expect Apple to completely revise their entire product line regardless of when a product was revised beforehand, or introduce a new gadget that no one has ever thought of. And launch either.. (or in some peoples eyes all of them) a PDA, Smartphone, Tablet, TIVO Device, Pizzabox (what a sh*tty term) Mac etc etc at EVERY Keynote. and because so many people buy into all these rumourware products, all they do is unnecessarily build themselves up for a huge fall when they aren't announced.

I know it's a rumour site, but to see people getting pi$$ed at Apple because they haven't launched a rumourware product is just silly, Apple cannot be expected to live up to such insane levels of rumoursite hype. It's worse now than when we were all waiting for news of the G5 a couple of years ago.

But it's a no win situation. Had Apple released a PowerBook G5 then we'd have had a ton of threads about how crap Apple are for updating so soon etc etc or if Apple had preannounced the PowerBook G5 but with shipping in 3 months, then people would start moaning about how Apple can't ship on time, or in 12 months time from now people would start including the announcement date instead of the shipping date for a revision timescale and the moaners would start again.

Personally I thought it was okay Keynote, could be better could be worse... but I'm loving the new screens and I think that Tiger looks like a corker! ;)

Thank you iGAV. I hope that you will not become too frustrated. Would really hate to loose such a thoughtful person. ;)
