I really don't know how much 'insane greatness' one man can pull out of a turtleneck in a year but so far I've seen plenty to be pleased about.
We should be very glad that Apple no longer the fragile 'one trick pony' it once was and we should really begin to try and not see OSX in such isolation anymore.
The iphone, for one, is some of the purest 100% apple magic we've ever seen and I for one really see the entire Apple 'experience' as becoming something incredibly powerful and seductive - Itunes - Ipod - Iphone - Macs - OSX - Great S/W Apps - Apple TV - Airport Express etc etc.
Can anyone seriously deny the Apple product profile in 2007 is slowly evolving into something just utterly stunning and Leopard builds some really nice features into what is becoming an incredibly sophisticated home media distribution and management 'system'.
No one comes close to making all this stuff 'WORK' as well as Apple. Nothing comes close to the full Apple experience.
You have to admit it's getting better a little better all the time..

While Mr. Jobs spent a considerable amount of time reviewing features previewed at last year's conference, he did not note that iChat would include AAC-LD (AAC low delay), which promises enhanced audio quality in iChat conversations.
I don't think that it was mentioned in the keynote, or by anyone else.Does anyone know if the new finder has tabs(like Path Finder), or why they wouldn't put them in. It seems like an obvious feature to add.
Is it me or did the remarks about safe sleep get removed from the bootcamp page?

I was going to write something up about safe sleep but I guess not now.
Actually Mr. Jobsdid comment on AAC-LD, at the very beginning of the iChat part of the Keynote.

Just pointing it out.

call me anything you want But a mac noob. but has anyone noticed that the Hard Drive icon(usually in the top right of you screen) is missing from all of the desktop shots of leopard?
Only in the same vein as the original Macs where 16bit.
Everything in the processor in the MBs is 64bit and that's what the OS will see.
The only current 32bit machine is the mini.
Thank you ... you know back in the days ... I found myself a couple of times ... looking over to the Windows World and being a little jealouse about some apps or other stuff that was working only there ... I also found myself getting some PC´s on the side to enjoy some Gaming and other little Gadet stuff ... but most of the time I was happy with my Apple.
By now ... it turns into a much happier mood ... I really don´t look anymore "at all" to the Windows People ... the only time I do ... is to feel sorry for what they have to deal with !
It is such a great think being a MAC User !
P.S. Just wishing that they would make some "Transition Center" for all those switchers ... that come with their Nerdie Windows additude, so you won´t be bothered running into them before they elevate (switch) their mindset and are set for being a compatible member of the Apple World ;o)
"Most of the audience laughed when the new desktop was shown. There's only one reason they could have laughed; they thought it was a joke thrown up as a copy of Vista. I absolutely cannot believe they used a wet grass desktop image, same as Vista. On top of the transparent menu bar and screwing with the dock."
Yeah, that was pretty funny. They all thought it was a joke, and I can understand why. It looked like a Vista theme for the existing OS X in many ways.
I get the feeling Steve isn't really personally involved in OS X any more (like he was back in the Next days). Another almost hiccup was at the end when he was summarizing all the new features and it looked like he forgot what the Core Animation icon represented for a second. He paused just a little too long.
ctrl+X, cut/paste, move file commend, call it what you will be I think it should be there by now.
How you know that?
Based on ?
I want real, under the hood, productivity improvements, not a bunch of shiny new features to make me ignore the continuing lack of feature depth that a lot of Apple's software has.
The sooner the better...Frankly I'm considering Moving back to Windows.

Honestly ... I personaly think that there will be a couple of more "nice" surprises waiting for us, in regards to leopard ;o)
To be fair, porting Tiger to Intel was a colossal achievement, so we can cut them some slack for lost time on the OS, i suppose. But let's accept that Leopard is finished, and move on.
