Well you can always print to a PDF, then crop and print in Preview. But what if you want to maintain layout and images or something???
I don't know whether it will be possible to go into "compatibility mode", but I guess not. It's not so much compatibility with Windows networks as it is incompatibility of foreign file systems with Mac OS concepts. If someone tries to put a label on a file on a Windows share, OS X stores this information in the ._ file. It has to do it somewhere, otherwise other users wouldn't be able to see it. So, what you are saying is that OS X shouldn't allow users to assign programs with which a document is opend and other such things to network files... or don't make such changes visible to other users (meta information would then be stored on the user's Mac). I don't think that they will do that any time soon, even though it would be preferable in many situations.

i thought it interesting they left out the coolest part of quickview - the ability to watch a video full screen without starting up quicktime.
I was talking about a specific file, not a file type. This information is stored in the ._ file. However, I'm not even sure that this makes sense. For home users maybe, but in a corporate environment? Why would everyone want to open a file with the same program I do?Not all meta-info is stored in the ._ files. When you assign an application to open a file type, that's local to your own machine.
Does anyone know if Leopard still has an Empty Trash button if you open the trash in finder anymore???
Can someone comment on whether or not the new Front Row has a Play All or Shuffle feature in the TV Shows or Movies sections? I would like to be able to play one after another without returning to the menu, particularly as I have mostly 5-8 minute cartoons in my library.
where are the videos? mirror anywhere?
