black leather DBrand skin and the silver iPhone X, very nice combo imho and also gets you good grip.

I don't use cases and I do not have nor want an X.

BUT. I have to be honest here and say that this looks damn nice!

If I DID use cases and I did have an X I'd be ripping your idea off right now. :)

Even though I have AppleCare+, I didn't want to run the risk of dropping my $1,100.00 phone and decided to get an Apple leather case. At first, the leather case was slippery. After a week or so, it got some grip to it and hasn't been a problem.

I have a few leather cases, but I primarily don’t use them. If I’m at home, use my phone without any case, unless I’m traveling, then I use a case. But I find the glass backing to help with the grip much better than the aluminum used on the iPhone 7, which I thought was much more slippery in the hand. But that also depends on the texture of your hand, if it’s dry or damp.

Yep, the grip of the glass back is on par with the JB 7. It's the sides that I find much more slippery and that make the phone squirm in my hand.

Anything that covers the glass with something else is effectively a "case" for the purposes of this discussion (which is very much about the surface feeling of the phone itself). OBVIOUSLY any type of covering falls into this category, be it a "case", "skin", "sticker", "peanut butter", etc... They all are *covering* the surface.

The 6 through 8's are too skinny to be comfortable to hold naked and the X is way too slippery with the metal rounded edge/trim. The 5/SE really did nail it IMHO. Would love for Apple to go back to squared off edges with a slightly rounded beveled edge.

This may sound strange, but I have only read a few other people sharing my thoughts on this, but the iPhone SE when I held it, had these sharper edges that did not feel comfortable in my hand. The phone size was comfortable, but it did not have the rounded corners that I like that the iPhone 6/6//7/8 has that was much more comfortable when holding it.

I disagree, the thinness and rounded edges of the previous generation phones made them a pleasure to use without covers. The brushed aluminum could be slippery at times, but JB fixed that completely. I'd say that a JB 7(+) was the most comfortable phone to hold (depending on your hand size).

I love jet black for its grippiness. I hope future phones are as grippy.

Yes jet black was great for grip. Wife had the 7+ jet black and I had the matte black. I need to get another one in jet black just b/c it is one of those colors that I doubt we ever see again. Just wish they would release some jet black or space gray AirPods now.

Jet black isn’t grippy.

Have you even handled the Jet black iPhone before? It’s very similar in grip texture like the iPhone 8/X with the glass back. As someone else noted, when holding in your hand, it’s completely different from the other aluminum models.

Yes it is, especially compared to the brushed alu models.

I compared my JB 7+ to a standard iphone 7+ and the JB offered a better grip. My iPhone X is the most slippery iPhone I've ever owned, and reminds me of the standard finish 7+ I'd handled at the store.

It's too thick, while being too small, that is the problem.

Not really sure how the size has anything to do with the slipperiness of the material.

If a phone is too large in your hand, that means you wouldn’t have a good grip, which could easily slip out of your hands regardless of the material. Rather what somebody claims is slippery based on glass
Or aluminum, is subjective.
