One more question. I'm on Next and upgrade every year. As I recall, when ordering through Apple, you could only ship to your AT&T billing address which, in my case, is my home. That's a bummer because typically you need to sign for the package and no one's home during the day. Ideally I would have the phone shipped to my office.

Does anyone know if this rule is still in place? As I recall, Apple told me this was an AT&T requirement.

I am pretty sure, but not positive, that you have to ORDER it that way but there is a way of changing the shipping address afterwards. However, there are some stories on this forum of people doing that and their preorder getting completely messed up. I have had 1 or 2 iPhones delivered to my office on launch day in the past, but I dont think that is possible anymore.

After you get the tracking info, you could request UPS/FEDEX to hold at a store and pickup after work.

I would err on the side of caution and do whatever address changes with the shipping company.

I’d like to pre order on Apple and att just to be sure. we cancel a preorder?

Depending on timing you might not be able to do 2 pre-orders for the same line.
I remember back when the 6 Plus came out, I had ordered a 6 but then went and saw the plus and wanted that, but had to wait 24 hours or so after canceling my 6 order because it took that long to reset the upgrade eligibility with ATT

I am pretty sure this is correct. I think after you get the shipping notification, you can change the shipping address or something through UPS/FedEx. I will for sure be trying it that way this year because I moved in the last year and live further away from my parents whom the billing address is listed under. And if I do get it on release day (fingers crossed) I may or may not try to take off work and play the new COD that day as I wait for my delivery, haha 😀

Bracing for having to go through that many clicks with the servers going down. I wonder if using the IUP with pre-approval is faster because you don’t have to go through the att verification? Or do you still? Probably no one knows.

Your already over the Server hurdles of
Identity
Eligibility
Preferred phone available
Carrier Confirmation and Approval
Loan Approval

All thats left is send it

Yes you can usually cancel up to before it is scheduled to ship.
HOWEVER you may
lose your line eligibility or upgrade status until systems are back in sync
exceed your credit limit or credit hold

So yea I just tested out the Apple Store app and it makes it so easy with ATT! It has all your info and you just click through the buttons.

But new question. I can keep doing ATT next and paying separate insurance. I think it’s $9 a month plus $3 for the protection pack or something.

Or I can do the Apple upgrade option. It’s more per month by $10-12 I think but AppleCare is included.

So should I drop my ATT insurance and do the Apple upgrade route or just keep doing what I’m doing?

Or you could do AT&T Next and buy AppleCare separate.
