Before his candidacy the PH drug problem was barely in the news.

After his filing then his doom and gloom on the drug war came about.

An estimated 7,742 civilians have been killed in "anti-drug operations" carried out by the government and its supporters between 2016 and 2021

China influenced the 2016 PH Presidential elections and got Duterte to back down the claims over the territorial waters of the West Philippine Sea. His predecessor won at UNCLOS.

I get you are running under the assumption of what sounds like democracy but Hitler was a populist too.

How many of those “civilians” were working for the drug gangs.

You present things as if they were innocent bystanders. That is pretty dishonest.

Whatever TV show or movie you've watched about drug gangs in the Americas does not exactly reflect elsewhere.

The severity of the drug problem was trumped up to elicit the highest paint points and fears of the voting public.

X like any other social media is like a drug, people can’t let go…
I let go this past month after being on Twitter for 14 years. Got an invite to Bluesky and signed up. Haven't been back since. They're all the same. I think Elon broke my social media addiction.

If Musk is claiming that this fee is about bots, then I assume that it's not about bots. More likely, it's about getting credit card info from more users to provide a base for his "everything app".

The idea of charging money to stop huge swarms of bots has some merit. What happened to the plan to charge everyone a few pennies for each email, to stop the email spam flood?

The amount of money those that run bots have access to is REALLY impressive. Such that the amount of money required to truly dissuade bot runners is several orders of magnitude greater than what a non-bot (real person) would balk at paying. Charging a fee merely means that a larger percentage of the group of new users that want to post are likely to be bots, the exact opposite of of the stated goal (That’s why trying to stop bots with a fee… it’s not even in the ballpark of “potential solutions” and it’s more likely a means to make a profit from those that are going to use bots anyway).

No it wasn’t. I’ve been in the mud and have seen it first hand.

Addicts, advocates and agitators underplay the drug efffects and culture for their own selfish ends.

And how does one determine a “civilian” in the tally? It was never alluded to they were innocent. But anyone not in a military is a civilian, and nearly all people in drug cartel operations are civilians.

Are civilians killed by drug gangs - especially in the habit of kidnappings for drug debts - tallied here as well? Nothing says who killed whom.
