Given that Twitter seemingly buries my tweets below the paying premium members, and the website can’t even load notifications for me, I haven’t posted a tweet reply or retweet in a very long time.

LOL @ the people that are mad at Elon but not Sundar Pachai , Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates and Steve Apple.

Social media companies have been mining your data since MySpace... But Your mad at Elon.
FB literally knows when you are going to the bathroom.. But you are mad at Elon..
You got 10 Google Home Mini, 2 Amazon Echo Shows, and 5 Apple HomePods littered throughout your house and work
AND YOUR MAD AT ELON?

The Amount of data that big tech has on you.. They know more about you than you do.. They know your location 24/7 they know what your going to buy, how you are feeling, when you are doing the nasty.. they know everything.

You gladly give away this info every day.
And they sell it to everyone. You are the product..

Why are you including Apple in this? We all know they stand apart with a stronger privacy-focused stance. Data may be mined, but it's anonymized first.

Your mistake is assuming everyone is coming from a place of gross ignorance. Do you really think people that are this upset that Musk ruined twitter are somehow the same people who were completely oblivious and perfectly fine with Facebook, Amazon and MS going all evil empire on them? Why must you resort to casting critics of Musk in a role of stupid supplicant to others? Is it in a self-interested effort to distract and dilute the perceived detriment of his actions, and why? Do you benefit in some tangible way, as a shareholder? How far will you go to avoid acknowledgeing that it was you who made the mistake of trusting and investing in a huckster? Or is it just diminishing dissent as the usual raw functionalist tactic of those who wish to convince themselves to sleep comfortably at night, secure in their tribal associations?

Everyone who cares knows not to trust the aforementioned with their personal data. This does not excuse Musk and his "worst of all possible worlds" approach to twitter from criticism, by any means. He has shown time and time again he is an unethical scumbag. If you are defending his actions, at this point you have far more to prove in the greater discussion than his detractors. Swing and a miss.

Elon is a stain on our world. IDK why people are still using twitter.

Just switch to threads. It's the same thing but not run by the biggest loser on the planet.

I’m thinking about creating an account just to feed garbage.

Is there any social network (with market share) that doesn’t consider user’s data not theirs?

Sad seeing how people get emotional. Initially Elon “Tony Stark” Musk was going to save the planet with its electric vehicles and saving humanity by sending everybody to Mars. If people complained about how lithium mining destroys the environment (and there’s not enough of it), or how colonizing Mars is ludicrous, you’re “climate denier” and want the world to end. Mainstream media saying he was the smartest person on the planet. Now he’s a Bond’s villain, lol.

He was forced to buy Twitter for 10X its value and now that censoring in posts or manipulation in trending list is over, people get upset. Imagine being in Japan and being bombarded with US politics. Now you see anime and cats. Try going to Reddit without seeing politics in 80% of trending topics.

There are topics that are ALWAYS going to be polemic: Abortion, age of consent (many countries in Europe are 14yo), voting age, gun control, immigration, death penalty, climate, taxation…
Half the country thinks different from the other. Now that ONE social network gives access (no censoring) to half the country, compared to 99% of the ones in California, people get triggered like they’re being forced to read what’s being posted there.

If you want to help people, open a company. Create something and hire people. Stay away from the internet with your complaining.

At least they're transparent about it. The worst default option I know of is Playstation & Xbox having cross-play with PC players, causing a lot of problems with cheaters and empty lobbies when turning it off.

The info in your link is already dated. Also, what's up with your condescending toxic attitude.

Meta has been ordered to stop training its AI models with posts from Facebook and Instagram users in the EU because of concerns it may violate privacy rules.

Customers should have been informed but thankfully there is an option to turn it off.

If you stop using X – problem solved.

Same with other services from Google, Microsoft/OpenAI, Apple. As soon as AI bubble explodes companies will start thinking about better ways to invest their money. How about tackling climate change, stopping wars, creating workplaces, curing diseases? In 70 years California will drown, together with all the “tech startups”. And if it won’t drown it will fry, because of killing hot summer weather. Either they fine tune their AI to solve real issues or they will be in the trashbin of history

You're willing to claw at Twitter (I refuse to call it X) over this but you seemingly take every other company at face value when parroting their press releases?

Anyway, the issue here isn't privacy (they are public tweets, after all) but copyright. I also don't see how it's "data collection" when the company in question is the one that you submitted the tweet to in the first place.
Wait, which copyright are you talking about?

Twitter has always been a cesspool of useless 140-280 character “posts”. How can someone even copyright 💩posting.

Since Musk just came in and purchased it, he owns this thing. He owns everything and everyone (literally) on Twitter. In fact, he can set any rules he wants, especially to free users. And I think we should not blame him alone, Zuckerberg did it first. He purchased and ruined every product. Instagram now is not a photo sharing service but a useless marketplace, Facebook is boring, spying and slow, even WhatsApp is now filled with stories and stuff (who needs stories in VoIP client lol🤦‍♂️)
