Wow, the RAM management is quite bad on the iphone 11. I was secretly wishing for apple to include more RAM, but they stuck with 4GB RAM. Usually android phones require more RAM, but I feel that we are at a point where more RAM is needed on iphones as the optimisations on IOS is not enough. I feel that ever since IOS 11, more RAM is needed as my old iphone 7 started to run into RAM management issues since IOS 11, and iphone 8/8 plus/X at that time also had apps reloading a lot, and Iphone Xs never quite solved that issue even with 1 GB more RAM.
Depends on the video

just seen a YouTube video where the Note 10 plus had more refreshes than the iPhone.

Different videos you will get different results

This is why you should always wait for the marketing hype to die down. There should be a noticeable speed difference on every comparison out there and yes the 4 GB of RAM is a huge part of the story. Oh yea extra RAM would have cut in to their profits.

3 letters for you - RAM

Apple did not add any extra RAM over last year. Why not? You already know the answer. You’ve been played.

The only thing surprising to me here was how slow the iPhone 11 was. But I’m not surprised the A12 kicked ass and the A13 lagged behind since things haven’t been optimized for it yet. But we all know the A13 is the most powerful chip.

It depends on how the test was ran. If you just open an app but don't use it, the note will sometimes close it like it was never opened. If you actually use the app, it stays open.

His Mario game reloaded because he never went into the game. In other speed test videos, it doesn't reload because those test actually started the game.

Now ask yourself, when you open an app, do you use it?

if they're not updated for ios 13 it means they're not updated on the xs AND the 11 pro.. does that make sense to u? or u no understand?
They are optimized for the A12 chip which is in the Xs. So they should work better on the A12. Once they get optimized for the A13, which is on the Pro, they should perform better. Plus the article doesn't state if the XS Max is still on 12.4 or 13.0. 13.0 is buggy, which is on the Pro. If the Xs Max is on 12.4, then the test is meaningless.

Let there be no doubt this IS Tim’s Apple.

Watch 11 take lead in 13.1 because of “slow down of a12” optimization of apps for a13. /s

Wrong. They are optimized for the a3 chip

Apple didn’t increase the RAM in their phones for many years and still got significant speed gains by increasing their chip efficiency year over year. IIRC the X and the 8 Plus had a RAM bump over the 7/Plus, and then the Xs/Max had a RAM bump over the X, so it does not surprise me that Apple kept the amount of RAM the same this year. We have definitely not been “played” by this.

True

this same test happened last year too...nothing to see here at all

For sure...optimization shouldn’t have anything to do with a new “Pro” model being released....that is what has been exposed and said by people in the know. They are releasing new models with just enough to say upgrade and people throw wasted money at them.

A Pro model should have blown the socks off anything that had previously released under ALL circumstances....ESPECIALLY for the money they are asking...they put all their stock in better battery life and camera....rest of phone was nothing really. Even during the keynote there were times of silence or half hearted applause from entitled invitees....that’s when you know it’s bad.

Even from the X it’s not worth the $$...only phone this year that could be acceptable release is the 11 and even then it’s questionable.

We are not talking about $500 phones here, we are talking about $ big money phones that most really can’t afford if they lived in their means. I value my $$ better than that.

How come the benchmark tests of the 11 Pro blew the socks off the XS max?

Value is subjective, regardless.

- For you the upgrade might not be enough - for me it is.
- For you holding on to a mythical $500 price point for a flagship from 2005 maybe the right mindset - for me a quick price comparison with other flagship phones answers the question.
- For you current price point seems to be unaffordable by most - for me sales figures talk. Especially when there exists IUP.
- For you the moniker Pro means everything has to change on a device - for me Pro simply means a marketing terminology for better performance compared to the lower tier in the same line of products.

You see, there can’t be a sweeping statement about all this. It’s fair enough that you don’t feel the upgrade is good enough for your money and a lot of others may think the same and not upgrade this year. For me the camera and battery life was reason enough to upgrade. Especially since I’m on IUP and I’m heavily into iPhone photography. It’s a no brainer really.

RAM management struggles for another year. They really could’ve done with an extra GB or two.

App refreshes need to improve on iPhones.

2020 will be the year of 5GB/6GB. I can feel it. 😏
