There's nothing to stop a new 360 from failing. There was a report on TV the other week, and it proved that if you're playing a game just a small vibration can cause you're disk to be ruined forever (even something like putting a book down on a nearby table). And Microsoft claims it's the users fault, and wont offer any help.

You should not believe EVERYTHING you hear or overhear.

Seriously that is some of the biggest FUD we've had on this forum in quite a while.

Give the PS3 a chance now you don't have the 360. And with the exclusives coming up (and already out), you shouldn't have trouble finding something fun to play.

The Dell Home Store sells the 360 Arcade for 20% off about every other week. I picked up a second 360 for my bedroom a few weeks ago for $159. If your dead 360 had a hard drive, you can just slap that on the new one and you're golden.

And did you honestly like paying for Online? MS Points?

That would probably be the main point where I would turn around if I were to buy a 360. Plus I really hate the controllers, but maybe that's cause I've been through the PS1, PSone, PS2, PStwo, PSP and now PS3, where the controls haven't really changed at all :p

Keep the PS3. Most of the good games that the 360 has, you can also get for the PS3. The PS3 also has better exclusives in 2009 and had a great year of games in 2008.

Like others said, just get a cheap 360 arcade so that you still have both....

Tis what I did, got that "cheap" arcade though I'm a gamer and ended up ballin' it out for that $$ hah and I don't play it much anymore. L4D w/ the GF on that though I prefer on steam, but hey it's fun playing coop w/ the lady.

The 360 is a dying breed.

They have NOTHING left to offer except Halo 3.5 coming out this september.

PS3 has:

God of War III
Uncharted II
Modern Warfare 2 (PS3 is the lead platform so it will run better than on 360)
MAG (Title TBD) Read up on it, it is the 256 player online game.
Gran Turismo 5 will come out sometime but who knows when
inFamous
A New Ratchet & Clank

PS3 is getting bioshock 2, so there goes another punch for the 360

And of course Final Fantasy XIII which is no longer an exclusive but the ps3 is still the lead platform.

Now I will realistically do the 360:

Halo 3: ODST (Previously referred to as Halo 3.5 because all it is is one big expansion to halo 3... same engine and everything, a couple new maps but general similarities)

Mass Effect 2

Alan Wake (nobody has heard anything about this game since it was announced at E3 several years back, nobody knows if it is still in production)

I am trying to remain as unbiased as I can in this post, but the facts don't lie. 2009 is the year of the PS3.

Which is exactly why I sold my 360 last week for $225.

People who still fight 360 vs ps3 are lammmmmme that argument is two yearso old...
...They're both pretty decent now

But the PS3s exclusive games are getting better and better. Let's name a few: LAIR, Heavenly Sword,...

:D:D:D

I'm a PS3 owner myself, and I agree that they have some kickass exclusives, but this is really not the best way to start that list to make your point. ;)

Not... really. Bioshock was simultaneously launched on the PC and 360 and eventually PS3. It wasn't even an exclusive at launch.

The 360 already has a large library of really good games, it was also out before the PS3. Playing catchup isn't a reason to celebrate - what will be is if these upcoming games are actually any good. Remember the hype train of (as mentioned above) Lair and Heavenly Sword?

As it stands now the 360 has a big library of great games and a few upcoming games.
The PS3 has a smaller library and more upcoming and (potentially) great games.

potentially?

Potentially great is an understatement. God of War 3, Uncharted 2, Gran Turismo 5, MAG ya those are potentially great. Try undoubtedly Epic.

Just like Halo 3 was potentially a gimmick as will ODST or whatever the heck it is called. If I wanted Halo 2.5, I would have asked for it.

Please englighten me with the (as you described) "few" AAA titles that are going to be released. And dont list the expansion pack to Halo 3.

Ps3 backers

PS3 supporters, if you want to win an argument. Please leave LAIR AND HAZE out of it! It wouldnt hurt to leave motor storm and heavenly sword out either.

Negative good sir, Bioshock was touted by MS themselves as a exclusive and it even have the "only on Xbox360" stamp on it but the code has PS3 info in it that caused the speculation.

The 360 gets timed exclusive games sometimes these games are unpolished or bug ridden then its released for the PS3 with improvements and extra content...this is how its going this generation so I don't think we should expect too many 3rd party exclusive games unless theirs some sort of "deal" in the cog.

What I'm trying to say is games will be available for both systems so I don't think you'll miss much only having just one.

Note: I liked Heavenly sword, one of the better games in 2007 for me.

Bless

hahah jimi

Good one Jimi, you cant list off any decent 360 games coming out so you resort to the name calling.

I agree Heavenly Sword was a great game, it just didn't get the publicity it should have gotten and nobody really knows about it. Stick with the AAA titles like MGS4, Resistance 1 and 2, Killzone 2, MLB 09: The Show (360 owners only wish the 2K series could compete with it), Little Big Planet etc for argument sake.

Hey Jimi, Bioshock 2 is getting released same day for all consoles. Did I say anything about Bioshock 1? No... I didnt, read up a little bit.

Sell your current 360 on ebay as-is (dead).

Keep your PS3.

Buy a new xbox 360 arcade unit (make sure it is a Jasper) and get your hard drive of choice (my guess is the 60gb live pack should be good for you).

I wasn't name calling, just going off your username and your post style I was just curious. That also adds more curiosity, I'm not one of these people to roll off lists of what I want for my favourite piece of plastic. Grow up.

So what were you implying with "PS3 is getting bioshock 2, so there goes another punch for the 360" if not to point out the timed exclusivity of the original?

Are you joking ? I mean you can not be serious. This game had some of the largest amount of publicity of any game EVER! Everyone at Sony was shouting about it out loud every 5 minutes. Andy Serkis was never off the bleeding TV or in magazines going on about how the acting was being taken to new levels in video games with regards to Heavenly Sword.

If you missed the amount of hype this game got, then you must have been living on a glacier out in the middle of the arctic.

It was for the very reason that it was so publicly hyped to the ninth degree that it failed so many people by not reaching any of their expectations. It wasn't a bad game, but it certainly was not the gaming nirvana that Sony had promised.

???

You think Heavenly Sword was overhyped? What do you think about Haze, Lair and Socom then? When I think about an overhyped video game, Heavenly Sword is a ways down on the list.

Heavenly Sword was overhyped as the PS3 savior, like Haze, like Lair. I like HS a lot, but yeah, it has it's faults. It's a solid B level game, albeit with AAA production values and marketing (and FFF screen tearing :p)

Socom had no hype. It's a hardcore fan base type of game.

...

I will tell you what is wrong with that statement. Heavenly Sword was NOT overhyped because it received RESPECTABLE reviews. Haze and Lair are in a class of their own because they were in the 6 out of 10 range on most if not all respected gaming review sites. At least HS was a high 7 or 8. Please do not lump Heavenly Sword in with Haze or Lair. They do not belong in the same sentence even.

Also, 2007... come on. Did anyone actually own a PS3 in 2007? I did and paid $600 bucks for it, best $600 I've ever spent. But people are just now realizing what the PS3 can do. You can't overhype a game for a system that nobody owns.

Socom was overhyped because this was supposed to be the socom that all the newbies were ranting and raving about saying, "This will be my first socom. I can't wait." Turns out it lagged more than dial up itself and the beta IMMEDIATELY killed all hype for it (I was in it). It is fixed now, but too little too late.

Thanks professor. I will tell you whats wrong with your statement. All three of those games were hyped to the big huge AAA make-360-only-guys-envious. All three didn't do that. Yes, Heavenly Sword did better those Lair and Haze. Yes, the opinion of it is much higher. But it was STILL over hyped. Getting 7's and 8's when it was EXPECTED to get 9+ plus lower than expected sales (hence no sequel will ever be made) means it was overhyped and generally did average at best.

You can't overhype a game for a system that nobody owns.

Yes you can, actually. Hyping a game is supposed to bring in more sales than the original estimate and to get people buying the console its on.

Average Sales

The reason it had average sales was because it was on the PS3 in 2007. Look at the software NPD numbers in 2007 and tell me how many ps3 titles made the top 10. Nobody bought ps3's in 2007 and therefore the software sales were miserable.

And because there were no systems out in households, nobody cared about it and therefore was not over hyped.

Put that same game on the 360 in 2007 and the sales are nearly twice as much.
