The Elite is very much experiencing RROD...My neighbor got it out of the box(thinking he escaped my pain...it was a good laugh for me)

I'm on my 3rd box(don't want to get into it) but tell me this guys....after that 3 year warranty is up and we are still experiencing the same RROD...what then?
Are we on our own to pay the for repair..which clearly isn't the fault of the owner?

I want honest answers....no fan base crap.

Bless

Poor Microsoft. They could get some of my monies if only they would fix these things on a permanent basis. I'm thinking the PS3 is the better deal. Yeah it costs more, but think of all the extra gaming time you'll have not having to deal with this crap. ;)

Yeah, that's how I assume it will be. Nothing's been reported on it yet but that's what I would figure. Consumers get the usual short end of the repair stick yet again I'm sure...

When my Ps2 stopped reading dvd-format games after the 1yr warranty was up they did expect me to pay for it (and tell me the repair fee); to which I started complaining about them using faulty laser assemblies in the first place which resorted in a (hilarious) by-the-script reply of "don't believe everything that you read on the internet; since you're a valued customer we will repair it free of charge this one time".

My friend's 360 died tonight. I felt really bad for him, because he had been working on an engineering project for the past few weeks and had NO time to play. He just finished his project today and was looking forward to playing some Halo, and *BAM!* Red Ring of Death! :( He probably won't get a replacement until just after the new year at the earliest, so all the shiny new 360 games he'll be getting for Christmas will have to just sit there. And look shiny.

The turn round time was faster then they quoted on the phone for getting the xbox 360 back so do not lose hope too fast. Also this is why you have more then one console. Just kidding, I played my Playstation 3 a lot more when 360 was away.

As for after three years warranty, I was thinking I would get another 360 around that time. I would get the 360 from repair back and sell it for dirt cheap and get another 360. My controlers, hard drive and cables (vga and soon hdmi) will still be good so will would only need to buy a core/acrade xbox 360.

Well,

If there is still huge problems with RRoD then I think Microsoft will have to make the warranty longer, somebody will make another law-suit. But, I say in about 3-4 years, there might be another 360. You never know. I hope they don't come out with a new system until about 2010-2012. We will see.

I've had 3 360s die on me, and I bought it last year. Those issues and the fact that there is only a handful of games that are rated 9.0 and above from most review sites disappoint me. Not that the PS3 has that many great games coming either....but I only buy games that are rated VERY well. I rarely play games anyway, but back to the PS2 I go, so many good games, AND a good variety too.

I am on my 3rd 360 too.

The first one got the RoD like 2 years after I got it then the replacement got the RoD after a week. Then they sent us a brand new one and it has not had the RoD yet but it does freeze a lot but I don't know what I can do about that.

Should I call them up or is it no use because it does not have the RoD.

Mine froze a lot too. Like the last month was horrible, it would freeze all the time loading games and such. I think yours is on its way out.
