This is all a big gift to Sony. GT6 comes out next year. There will be millions of people who will want to play it but down't own a console. Guess what 80% of them will buy?
Definitely,
I forget how the YTer put it at the end of the video, but he something along the lines that Xbox's priority was making games, and great hardware. They were content with selling the console at loss because they'd make it up with game sales.

Now, they're not just competing against Sony, but other divisions, they have to make 30% profit margins, or cuts will be made, so short term gains are being accomplished at the cost of long term goals.

As I said, what incentive is there for the game playing public to buy the next xbox console (if you want to call it that), when you can just buy a PS5 (or PS6), get a better game library and still have access to xbox game content.

At the 12:40 mark, he sums it up, why bother buying an Xbox, as its foolish. You can buy a PS5, its a better console with better games library, and you will be getting the microsoft catalog anyways.
Better games library how? And what's better about the PS5 console than the Series X? The Series X is more powerful than the regular PS5 and Quick Resume doesn't exist on the PS5. Some people like the controllers on the PS5 better but I don't; they're too small and don't feel like they're made for human hands.

It seems like Sony has always been better at single player games than Microsoft. Even with better hardware there doesn't seem to be many games that actually take advantage of it (especially first party games).

When a CEO starts speaking like like the below, you know that the priority is no longer the community, fans or heritage but purely money:

Satya Nadella:

"You've got to remember, Flight Simulator was the first product Microsoft ever built, even before — Dev Tools was first, Flight Simulator was second," Nadella said. "Remember, the biggest gaming business is the Windows business. Steam has built a massive marketplace on top of it and has done a very successful job. The way we are thinking about gaming, first of all, we're the largest publisher after the Activision [acquisition.] We want to be a fantastic publisher, but we want to take a similar approach to what we did with Office. We want to make sure, whether it's consoles, PC, mobile, or cloud gaming, direct on the TV — we just want to make sure games are being enjoyed by gamers everywhere."

"Second, we want to do innovative work on the system side, on both console and PC. It's kind of funny that people think of console and PC as two different things. We built the console, because we wanted to build a better PC, which could then perform for gaming. I kind of want to revisit some of that conventional wisdom. At the end of the day, console has an experience that is unparalleled. It delivers performance that is unparalleled, that pushes, I think, the system forward."

"I'm really looking forward to the next console," Nadella said, "[and] what's next for PC gaming, but most importantly, the gaming business model is where we have to invent some new types of interactive media as well. Gaming's competition is not other gaming. Gaming's competition is short form video. So, if we as an industry don't continue to innovate both how we produce, what we produce, how we think distribution, the economic model — the best way to innovate is to have good margins. That's how you can fund [innovation]."

Yes, definitely, there's been so much talk about how weak the xbox library was, and in fact that could be one reason why MS went on a buying spree. At one point they barely had any xbox exclusives, especially when they delayed the latest incarnation of halo, and that largely flopped.

Its funny you say that because I felt the xbox controller to be too fat, they just didn't fit in my hands as snuggly and well as the PS5. I guess that all comes down to personal preference.

What's not personal preference is the idea that Sony has a stronger catalog of games. That's changeed a bit with MS's buying spree, but has it really, since those exclusives will be headed to the playstation platform.

It's actually good that the buying sphree has somewhat backfired. It shows that you can't always buy success.

Hopefully this means that going forwards, fewer large corporates will try to sweep the market of gaming studios. Likewise, I hope that indepedent studios realise that selling to a big studio could be a death sentence.

Better as in, you can play the awesome Sony exclusives AND the awesome former MS exclusives on Playstation!

With Flight Simulator coming to Playstation, there is literally no reason left for me to ever consider buying an XBox.

Virtually every game on Series X is also on PS5. But games are more likely to skip Xbox or come later (e.g., FFXIV, FFVII Rebirth, Stellar Blade, Wukong, etc.) The PS5 version generally runs better too despite the extra power on paper of the Series X. PS5 Pro of course is even more powerful.

Aren't the PS5 controllers bigger than the Series X controllers too?

But games are more likely to skip Xbox
Indeed as microsoft requires that any games going on the Xbox X has to be also supported on the S. A numbner of games have been delayed, maybe even some just didn't arrive.

Baldur's gate comes to mind, where it was released on the PC and PS5 (August and September respectively), but not the Xbox because the the S couldn't handle the split screen. I think MS relaxed the rules to let game be released in December but I think the damage was already done. Most people wanting to play the game already bought it.

Source for your first sentence if it's a general thing. Don't care if it's individual games.

the PS5 Pro is a mid gen console refresh with newer hardware (including RDNA 3 graphics) over the PS5 and Xbox (both RNDA 2).

Yes, of course PS5 Pro is newer, but guess what? It's still more powerful!

Specs aren’t as important as 20 years ago.

The majority of games of games are designed for the lowest common denominator. This includes the most popular ones like battlefield, cod, valorant and counter strike.

Then there are the super important ones like Roblox and Minecraft. They run on almost any device and are Gen Z favourites.
