I have an Xbox X and a PS5, I use the PS5, not the Xbox. I think I missed the boat in trying to sell it. Its sitting there not doing anything at this pointAt least where I live, I see folks having trouble selling the X for $300

I wonder whether Ubisoft and ea play are a factor. As in do they renegotiate the wholesale price with ms very year or is there a 2-4% annual price hike baked into the agreement.Ubisoft and EA play are not extra. They are now included with GP Ultimate which is required to get day one games.
Same here.I have an Xbox X and a PS5, I use the PS5, not the Xbox. I think I missed the boat in trying to sell it. Its sitting there not doing anything at this point
Gamepass can be a false economy depending on what games are currently live and whether you enjoy them. A bit like Amazon Prime. Lots of shows and movies but maybe only 10% that you actually want to watch.Same here.
I had kept GP Ultimate as I've recently built a new gaming PC, but $30/months can get me a lot of games a year. Heck, I just spent that on Humble and got all the Alan Wake and Control stuff for PC for a little over $30.
Looks to be a free version like Geforce Now, so while Microsoft has penchant of putting ads into the OS, and other applications, its not doing anything different then offering a free tier just like nvidia.Big development!

Given the bad news its receiving with the price hike they're probably waiting until that brouhaha calms down, as this will most definitely be received negatively as well.
Yep, no question.I think they are following Netflix playbook. Make the premium tier more expensive and use it to edge consumers towards an ad supported tier.

Sales on xbox, ubisoft, ea and steam stores are so frequent that you can for $15-20 buy games that you actually want to own and play instead of subbing to gamepass ultimate indefinately.
I will still subscribe to gamepass when Forza 6 is released, but probably only for a month to play the game until I get bored.

I am still likely to buy a windows based Xbox handheld as long as it has native support for steam os. However I will wait 1 year for the category to further mature.Yeah, The price hike, plus what I was currently playing (Silksong) pretty much sealed the deal. I can wait until I get my gaming PC's motherboard replaced, then I'll just buy Silksong.
How many of these rumors has MS denied, only for them to actually happen? You folks might wanna read that first before coming to conclusions.
Jez Corden has lots of reliable gaming and Xbox/Microsoft sources.
I agree - Their quarterly financials are showing that the software side is incredibly profitable, but the hardware is dragging them down. Its quite likely they'll be exiting the hardware side, but will most likely look to license/brand other hardware items under the xbox moniker.if MS got out of the hardware business.
Here's some insight regarding the price hike
This YTer is talking through the Bloomberg article (which seems to be behind a paywall) that states that Call Of Duty lost 300 million in sales due to it being on gamepass, but gamepass did not realize any substantial growth due to COD
Wasn't this the very argument that non-microsoft studios stated on why they didn't want to add their games to the subscription when the sub first came out.
TL;DR, subscription counts are not as high as they want, but that subscription is lowering game sales
In all seriousness, what motivation is there to buy an Xbox, when exclusives are not longer? The best Xbox is PS5 Pro:

Just for fairness, Sony has been bringing their games to the PC, after a while, but I think MS has been pushing this far greater and harder.
I know they tried to say that a new console is going to be coming, I do wonder if about it, and I do wonder if they really have the dedication to make a great console
In all seriousness who will buy an expensive next xbox?Every leak and insider info and rumour states the same, the next Xbox will be expensive, a PC basically in a pretty box, will run Steam and EPIC stores etc, and will be more powerful then the PS6 but cost significantly more then the PS6 too. And with Sarah Bond recently stating in an interview the next Xbox will be offering a “very premium very high end curated experience” I think we can believe the rumours.
They will eventually just license out the xbox brand and let others make the hardware, like 3DO...In all seriousness who will buy an expensive next xbox?
Casual gamers on series s won't upgrade since live service games will continue to be served on as many platforms as possible.
Series x owners are unlikely to buy it as they feel burnt that all exclusives are coming to ps5.
Ps5 owners won't buy it because they they will be able to play most major Xbox titles on ps5.
Pc gamers are unlikely to be interested if it cost almost as much mid range pc but is not upgradable or mod friendly.
My guess is that all the studio aquisitions and gamepass day one gamepass release for many game, has not enticed people to buy an Xbox console. In all seriousness, what motivation is there to buy an Xbox, when exclusives are not longer?
