aapl needs to improve game contnet - mucho much
i play video games on pc game rig mostly
bought a xbox controller elite series 2 - stupid thing is not plug and play into pc btw - its a paper weight for now
playing cod warzone pubg using mouse keys so far
macOS & tvOS support elite 2 controller

Wait, the series X controller doesn't work with iOS? I was planning on picking one up to play games on apple tv and my ipad.

Any guesses when they will be supported?
Why don’t just get a elite 2 controller ?
It’s superior comparing with all those plastic on the market , you won’t regret it

The Xbox one remote (model 1708) has a different Bluetooth stack than the new Xbox X remote, which is why currently the Xbox X remote does not work for iOS, Oculus, etc. Do we have a better timeline of when this will be supported? I just updated to 14.3 to hoping it would work and it didn't....

Yeah, between the Bluetooth being flaky on my PC and it straight up not working at all on iOS I’m tempted to return it for a Xbox One controller.

Just gotta be patient I guess.

Any updates or a 3rd party solution to this? I sold my Xbox One controller and bought the series X controller on black Friday. Now I can't play my Geforce Now games on my MacBook with the remote :(

Space Gray iPad Pro w/ Robot White Xbox Wireless Controller, rechargeable battery from old Xbox One controller, and a USB-C cable to charge it. :)

Strange that Apple has to whitelist controllers or it doesn't work. On other OS' like Retropie, Windows, Android, etc. it's just standard bluetooth pairing for both new Xbox Series X/S and PS5 controllers.

I wished to pose a question to more experienced Xbox users, I am searching for a reliable easy to use controller for Apple Arcade through our family Apple TV for my children <12. Would anyone would be able to suggest a Xbox controller that is currently available, not too expensive and most importantly supported without a work around? Where would one purchase said controller? Many thanks!!!

Elite 2 controller
I have been enjoying it on Apple TV 4K for quite sometime

I appreciate the mention of the Elite controller however that is perhaps a little more expensive than I had hoped for. But thank you anyway... It seems that I need at least series 4 or above for the Apple Arcade to work on the Apple TV. That we can purchase used likely but then just a simple controller would be very appropriate for our intentions...

It's kind of a crummy situation because there's a handful of "mini" Xbox controllers that are meant for kids usage, but none of them are going to be AppleTV/iOS compatible because they're all third party products, and many are wired anyway.

The new Xbox controllers designed for the Series S & Series X consoles are a little bit smaller than the older Xbox One controller, but they're currently incompatible with no real timeline as to when they will be working. Many retailers had them on sale for $39.99 for Black Friday, but unfortunately that's no longer the case.

I have two of those incompatible ones at home, return window is until end of Jan, but I do not think they will be made compatible until then

I picked up one of the Microsoft 1419 controls up thinking is was ready to go out the box since it’s marked iOS compatible. It would be a bummer if this is not working yet with the 14.3 update. Has anyone confirmed that it is still missing with the beta?

He asked for something "not too expensive" and you go and recommend the most expensive controller available. C'mon, man.
In terms of durability / feeling/ compatibility/ battery charging method by usb C , despite my hate against Microsoft, the elite 2 is a wise choice for years to come

What’s the point of buying cheaper stuff when it’s not gonna last as long / feel good ?

i have two steel series nimbus MFI controller 1st generation and both of them ended up with the shoulder R2 button broke.

edit: lol I just réalisé the left thumb stick rubber has worn off on nimbus ( with right stick starting to breakdown )

when I take it out for a photo , see ,

what’s the point of buying $59 “cheap “ stuff when $129 clearly is the better choice ?

I might consider buying nimbus + / amazon Luna / Ps5 controller tho since this is the first time I considering buying a ps5 because it looks kinda cool

It’s fine , just trying to help based on my user experience, I wouldn’t mind give you the Apple TV 4K for free if you are in hk ( when the new one is released)

I just purchased the new Xbox Series X controller thinking it would be an easy sync to my Big Sur’d iMac and Steam account but what happens during the process is anything but seamless. The controller is recognized by both MacOS and Steam and appears in both menus, but Steam keeps displaying an update that I have now opened and reinstalled countless times in vain to validate the synchronisation of the controller. This is something that has plaqued both the PC and Mac platforms and up until Cyberpunk in consoles, the Xbox and PlayStation ecosystems are something the gamer hasn’t needed to even think about.
It should just work, right Apple? Apparently not. Placing a compatibility sticker on the box for a device for MacOS or any system should only occur when it is in fact presently compatible and not be representative of a half baked idea or future endeavor.
At some point I’d like to enjoy Hades on my 4K iMac and not with a keyboard and horrendous Apple mouse.

it is steam’s fault as valve are notoriously slow on the macOS update and treating the macOS users as sub standard

steam have to implement apple provided game controller framework in order to achieve that seamless pairing experience

Since I made the mistake of buying one of these controllers — specifically, Model 1914 (the one with the USB-C cable) — before learning of this “in the future” promise, am wondering if anyone has an idea how long that “future” support in macOS Big Sur might arrive? (My hope was to use it with the Shadow cloud gaming setup but, of course, that’s a no-go if the Mac itself doesn’t support it in the first place; and, as is well known by now, the previous “360 Controller” drivers from GitHub are of no use with these latest models.) Any leaks, hints in current betas, etc.? I have a few weeks before I’d have to return it but would hate to do so only to find out this is actually not that far out. Thanks in advance for whatever related info anyone feels willing to share!

Note: After I posted this, noticed I’d finally received a reply to a similar question I’d asked on the Reddit “macgaming” subreddit; the reply was, essentially, go ahead and return the controller because that update ain’t happening any time soon. Wish that weren’t the case but don’t plan to waste the money on hoping otherwise. Just FYI.

It's a real shame, too. I built my Gaming PC to use primarily with Steam Link via my iPhone, Apple TV and Macbook. As it is now there's no support for the XSX controller under iOS or tVOS whatsoever and controller support in the Steam app is busted in Big Sur.

Frustrating.

I don’t get it
Why not just buy an elite 2 controller instead have to go through all this ?

it could take apple and Microsoft up to 1.5 years because controller support clearly aren’t their priority
( support Xbox elite 2 take them 1 year)

I don't get it either.

One can buy a wired $18 Logitech Gamepad F310 that works fine with Macs. It's the lowest common denominator.

Buying a gamepad from a newly-released console is fine but you need to set your expectations realistically concerning support.

I bought a PS5 DualSense controller a week before the actual console was launched in November last year. I knew it wouldn't be supported by Apple for a long time. I bought it primarily for my Windows gaming PC.

As I anticipated, Steam added DualSense support to their desktop clients within one month. That's pretty good. It still requires you to fire up Big Picture Mode to access it. When it does work, it works brilliantly even without developer support for the newly added advanced haptics and adaptive triggers.

There are games on my custom Windows gaming PC that don't work well with the DualSense controller. That's fine. I switch to my ghetto Logitech (which doesn't even have rumble).

This is just poor purchase decision making/unrealistic expectations by some folks here.
