The Apple website says the Series 5 Apple Watch has a 64-bit dual core S5 processor. So is this article suggesting it’s the exact same chip with just a name change?

I’m not bothered as I ordered my S5 this morning, just curious...

Looks like the editors at MacRumors are a bit slow this week. GSM arena is reporting on the first Tear Down of an iPhone 11 Pro Max (ugh the name) and confirm 4 GB Ram.

That tear down didn’t mention RAM. The 4 GB is quoted from the Chinese regulatory filing.

I don’t recall an uproar about iPhone 7 or 8 having the same 2GB ram as the 6s being an issue
iPhone 7 came out 3 years ago.

4GB is probably more than these phones need.
4 GB is appropriate.

When iOS demanded it, Apple has always increased the ram appropriately.
For example, iPhone 6 and 6 Plus would disagree with you.

I'm a little disappointed in the watch. I am going to try the always on display to see if its something I like but I was actually hoping for some performance improvements. At the very least I was hoping for some battery improvements. If you use the watch to work out as well as for things like maps the battery takes a major hit and usuallly needs to be charged up if you have a late night. Was hoping for some improvements there, but maybe next year.

I was thinking about getting an Apple Watch S5 as my first Apple Watch, but it feels dumb to buy when there are no performance upgrades and sleep tracking and more significant features are most likely coming next year.

The Series 5 is an ideal watch to buy as your first Apple Watch, or if you plan to upgrade for anything older than the Series 4.

Agreed, my Series 4 struggles sometimes to make it through the day, I can't imagine it would be any different with the new one. I just wish they had MST. Still daily use a Gear S3 Frontier because it can pay anywhere, has had AOD, and it lasts me well into a second day without needing a charge.

I use my Series 4 watch all day, every day. The most battery juice I ever used in a day over the last year was around 35%. My Series 2 watch before it, I barely managed to use more than 15-20% in a full day.

Do you have a badly optimised app or something like that? I just don't understand the battery life complaints.

Even it’s 4 GB, it still should be plenty sufficient, the only thing that I would think would might need additional Ram, would be for the ‘triple lens camera’ on the Pro.

New rumor is that it could be 4gn for iOS. And 2gb for the camera itself. Guess we’ll see.

Dear laptop industry.
The cell phones have caught up with you, RAM wise.
Could you please stop selling crappy machines with only 4 G ram?
kthxbye

That's a year away! And we don't know anything about the S6 watch yet.

But we do know about S5. It has the same chip (speed wise) as S4. Its already a year old at launch. I know I wouldn’t buy a new iPhone (at full price) with a year old chip in it and no performance increase.

When the software (in this case WatchOS) is optimised for it, then why not? Who waits a YEAR for a watch that may or not be released? Madness.

On leaks says

Latest updated in the "how much RAM does the #iPhone11Pro #iPhoneProMax really have" story...

Now supposedly 4GB + 2GB extra...

So it is 6GB With 4GB plus 2GB for photography

No. OnLeaks just posted an AppleInsider article, which quotes the tweet cardfan already posted in this thread. However, as already mentioned, that tweet just appears to be random guesses.

It's clear now that OnLeaks has no inside information on this.

The report is from a trusted source Which is why there was an article in the first place

I’m sure we will know soon enough what’s correct

Oh yeah I definitely said rumor. This isn’t solid by any means.
