I love this case!

I've had mine about a month. Holds the iPad tightly. Sturdy in both standing positions. No smell, no stitching issues. The loop is still tight, maybe a little too tight. Very lightweight. Yes it's expensive but it is exactly what I was looking for. It even fits in my Belkin neoprene case as added protection when I travel. I'd buy it again anytime.

Just ordered one of these for $50 from the Amazon warehousedeals website. I guess they sell returned merchandise. There were two available and mine stated the packaging was blemished but the case was in mint condition and still comes with Amazon's 30 day return policy. Still 1 more left as of now but not sure what the condition is listed as.

Bought mine thru Amazon. Its exactly what I was looking for in a case for my iPad. Super slim, and it doesn't hide the bezel.

The only small issue is have is that a little bit of the inner liner of the hinge unglued from the edge under the hard plastic backing, but no biggie. Just pushed it back under.

I would now not recommend this case as it leaves a lot of the ipad exposed!

I just dropped my ipad 3 inches and it hit something while in this case and now the power button doesn't work as the surround is ever so slightly dented :(

Well, I hate to say it, but it's your fault for dropping it, not the case's fault for failing to protect it. This case does leave some of the sides exposed, but that's a necessary condition of being slim and portable. Whenever I'm going point A to point B, the Xgear is always kept in a PixelSleeve Plus.

Realistically speaking, I don't expect any case to prevent damage from dropping. A folio is designed to alleviate day-to-day scratches, and provide a typing stand. The Xgear performs both these tasks admirably. It's not, and never was, intended to prevent serious damage from mishandling.

As a semi-aside, a few years back I had one of the HDD-based iPods, and bought the most elaborate, shock-absorbing case on the market. Dropped it a few weeks later, and the click wheel was busted. My fault, not the case's.

it covers the corners, i fail to see how continuing the cover from the corners to over the top/bottom would really make it any thicker as the corner cover sticks out anyway.

Dropping 3 inches is hardly major height, even if you deem the case is just for protecting it from day to day scratches then again the top/bottom should be covered IMO

The reasons the sides are not covered is due to the way the back of the case holds the ipad. It needs a certain degree of flex to pinch it in there, which it wouldn't have if the sides were covered.

I sympathize with your situation, I really do, but it's not the fault of the case. At any rate, you knew going into it that the sides weren't protected, so it hardly makes sense to blame the case after the fact.

This looks like it would keep cleaner and be easier to clean than the MacAlly Bookcase which I have.

The MacAlly surface has started to really wear down where the flap gets inserted into the loop on the back and it looks like that wouldn't be a problem with this case since it doesn't have the velvet feel to it.

What I don't really get is why someone can't make a case just like this but of harder plastic and just a solid color, no cheesy carbon fiber look or anything like that.
