It is much easier and faster just to copy.

Maybe Apple cancelled its wireless charging pad because Chinese companies like Xiaomi copy it right-away; what’s the point…

I already bought the Nomad wireless charging pad.
This requires original research and engineering. Even if Apple gives out a concept and we electrical engineers all know approximately how it can be achieved, but actually making it into a product that can be delivered? That’s hard. If your products fail, people get injured.

Apple AirPower was designed to charge the phone and also charge the Apple Watch which as you know has a different charging standard to that of the iPhone.
So, I have a battery charger with a wireless pad that charges the Apple Watch and the iPhone. I don’t think it’s a different “standard”, it must all be Qi, it’s just that the watch requires more precise placement. As a result, the battery pack has a magnet that forces the Apple Watch to the right position.

Xiaomi does yet another thing that Apple couldn't - yet this won't be labelled as 'revolutionary' until Apple create their own??!
Apple wanted to do one that you don't have to put everything in the exact place and not waste energy. You can make a mat and give other factors a discount, but it doesn't change their decisions to not sell the product half baked.

I will get one if it really can charge an Apple Watch.
Nope, Apple Watch does not use Qi Wireless charging.

My only thought is, what prevented Apple from doing this and was it a potential fault that xiaomi is willing to do deal with? I heard that Apple was having troubles with it overheating, I wonder if that will be the case with this device.

Exactly what I was thinking. I'm going to have to wait and see if this actually works or if it's a overheating mess that'll burn up into flame like them exploding Samsungs

Once again, Xiaomi is copying Apple.
Cool if it works... but let's wait and see for a real world usage - curious if it has problems.

This was the low-hanging fruit Apple didn't settle on. The AirPower pad wasn't limited the three devices, it didn't matter where the devices were placed to have optimal charging, and they spoke to eachother so that the phone acted as a screen to display charging progress for all devices, even if they themselves didn't have screens.

This one out of the three, lets see if they solved the thermal issues before it's deemed revolutionary.

So what? Every company has its quirks. I can never get the homepods to work when I want them to. We can all go back and forth with this works but this doesn’t work for every company. Xioami did something Apple couldn’t do period!!
Yeah, I guess there’s no more discussion needed. Cheers.

Whatever.... don’t know anyone with or never seen a xiaomi phone or product in my lifetime, so who cares.
Where do you live?

Xiaomi products (smartphones) are typically more commonly found overseas (outside of the U.S.), but if you live in the U.S. (particularly in a big city), I'm surprised you haven't seen their e-scooters all over the place. Many e-scooter ride sharing companies (Bird, Lime, Spin, Lyft) use(d) their e-scooters. Of course, they won't have Xiaomi emblazoned on them so you might not have known, but if you've seen a Bird, Lime, Spin, or Lyft e-scooter, it was more than likely a Xiaomi.

Have you ever seen a Segway? They're owned by Xiaomi.

Xiaomi's Mi Box (for streaming tv) was pretty popular in the U.S. when it first came out a few years back and can be found at Walmart.

My guess is you have seen a Xiaomi product before, but just didn't realize it was from them.

Who cares? Apple didn’t want to release a half-baked product that didn’t meat their standards. Other companies may choose to release junk.

The set top box is very inexpensive, but I have to restart it every time I want to use it because it keeps disconnecting its own remote.
I have the same problem, and it got so bad after a couple updates, I decided to switch to the next Apple TV as soon as it's announced.

This whole experience made me reluctant to buy any Xiaomi products in the future. I want to get this charger, but I'm afraid to be let down again in a couple of years.

xiaomi for the win
Nope. Apple wanted the same plus charging the apple watch where there is a different system than QI. They did it, but the device would be too expensive. Xiaomi will probably sell it at a loss.

Apple Watch does not use standard QI charging otherwise you would be able to drop an Apple Watch onto a standard wireless charger and it would charge

There is nothing in the world that is "Apple AirPower-Like" because Apple AirPower isn't a real thing.
