They also announced this long-range wireless charger a few months ago, so either they're way ahead of the game, or this stuff's never gonna see the light of day (or maybe it will and burn down a house, let's find out!) 🍿
Perhaps Apple had nothing to copy and that's why it never came out....I am pretty sure Apple solved the technical issues, they just couldn't do it for a palatable cost.It is much easier and faster just to copy.
Maybe Apple cancelled its wireless charging pad because Chinese companies like Xiaomi copy it right-away; what’s the point…
I already bought the Nomad wireless charging pad.
Pretty difficult to copy something that doesn't exist.Once again, Xiaomi is copying Apple.
Cool if it works... but let's wait and see for a real world usage - curious if it has problems.
They spent about 2 minutes talking about how it was going to revolutionize the charging experience, showing off new animations that would show on your iPhone when you added other devices to the AirPower charger, and how they were going to work with the Qi standards team to incorporate the benefits Apple had discovered back into the Qi standard. It was pretty much a full unveiling. More time than they spent in a keynote unveiling the MagSafe Duo.No. I think I've seen that. How much time was actually spent discussing the product? Was it more than 2 seconds? I don't recall, honestly.
Or you could just use the regular charging cable. With magsafe, one can at least use the phone while you are relaxing or laying down. Not so much with the charging pad.
I watched the video, it was clearly a whole lotta confusing mumbo, jumbo of words. "I think we have a better solution", is what Phil said multiple times. He did say "so look for the [thing] next year, but that was anything but an unveiling. It was more like a direction they want to go in, and we know where that ended up. But I'm guessing Apple learned their lesson from that. It won’t be labeled revolutionary, because a charging pad is not revolutionary. Don’t get your panties in a wad because of marketing terms. If I had a nickel for every new product, from any company, that called their product revolutionary, I’d be a rich man. For some reason Ford can call every years new pickup revolutionary, but when Apple uses it, IT MUST be a society altering product.Xiaomi does yet another thing that Apple couldn't - yet this won't be labelled as 'revolutionary' until Apple create their own??!
This requires original research and engineering. Even if Apple gives out a concept and we electrical engineers all know approximately how it can be achieved, but actually making it into a product that can be delivered? That’s hard. If your products fail, people get injured.
Does that price include the fire extinguisher?Xiamoi's wireless charging pad will retail for $90.

Not sure why I did that for you. Google isn't hard.
So this Xiaomi charger can charge my Apple Watch? Because is what AirPower was intended to do, charge my iPhone, airpods and apple watch. So Xiaomi solved that?Xiaomi does yet another thing that Apple couldn't - yet this won't be labelled as 'revolutionary' until Apple create their own??!
Design doesn't have to be in production for it to exist. It's been unveiled and was pretty damn easy to imagine in real life. Xiaomi copies every single design Apple does. They have no shame.Pretty difficult to copy something that doesn't exist.
90% or more likely wasted…What % of the power is wasted? I assumed that's why Apple scrapped Airpad.

Dillusional theory I'm afraid...aside from all of the complex electronics that were not on display and actually Apple supposedly couldn't execute or solve, how did they copy something that they didn't see. What they saw were a few slides of a plastic white slab. Xiami often copy, there is no doubt, but absolutely no more than Apple or anyone else. There was an article on here only a few days ago describing what is coming to the iPhone 14, 15 & 16 and everything described was or is basically available across any number of other manufacturers now, but of course to you folks that's not copying, it's "perfecting"Design doesn't have to be in production for it to exist. Maybe because when Apple launch anything, it is presented as a society altering product...just look at what they have done with a magnet as a recent example. It won’t be labeled revolutionary, because a charging pad is not revolutionary.
