Not being a troll either. Seriously considering the Xoom as I have never seen as many rude people as I have seen on the mac forum. I guess they just think they are better than everybody else.
Hey, Jay. Sorry you've received the brunt of the rudeness of others on here. It happens. It even happens amongst "their own". But, the truth is, it also happens on the equivalent boards for Android, and for Windows, and for Linux, etc., etc. I don't think it has so much to do with Mac users, in general, thinking that they are better than everybody else, but rather to do with the type of personality that people who are the most vocal online tend to have.
So, while this advice may seem a little harsh, I think the best you can do is to try to grow a thicker skin, if you're going to spend much time in this online world.
As far as comparing the products goes, I would have to agree with what ThReMiX had to say, just about entirely. Xoom looks like a pretty cool product, but it's just not as well designed as the iPad. Sure, there are some features that are better than the iPad, but overall the iPad still wins, hands down.
Also, while again it has promise, Android, IMHO, isn't yet as refined and well thought through as iOS. Again, it has some features that are better than iOS, but overall iOS is still the better OS, easier and more intuitive to use, of the two.
Eventually, assuming Google can figure out how to get the perpetual beta business model to work for something as significant as a tablet OS, I'm sure there will be some great products akin to the Xoom that will be strong competitors to the iPad, but I don't see that now is that time. (Honestly, I'm looking forward to seeing what the webOS offerings will be, and how much of an ecosystem they can get in place and how fast...)
So, for the moment, I would strongly recommend you ignore the jerks on these forums and stick with the (currently) best and strongest tablet offering out there, the iPad.
