Think I might just buy a Xoom since most of you mac people give me crap. Trying to help out fellow members and catch a bunch of crap for it.

So has anybody personally compared the Xoom to the Ipad? Pros and cons of each?

No, no one has ever compared the two, not on these forums or android forums ;)

The best comparison is to go to Best Buy and use both. Then you'll understand why the Xoom is still quite far behind the iPad. All reviews call it basically the equivalent of a beta product.

Also, wait, what? You're buying something because other people on the internet give you a hard time? As Daniel Tosh says, "here's some advice, fill up the paxil, because life's going to be really sad."

Ahh, I see. Now you're just being a troll because you can't sell your iPad here.
Yes the Xoom is awesome, better still if you don't open the box.
Seriously buy a new truck and stop trying to flip stuff you bought on credit till your credit rating tanks.

I did, the speaker on the xoom were crap, the screen was not as saturated as the iPad, I loved the honeycomb UI and think the galaxy tab will be killer, but the xoom is already ending production, or slowing it down so that speaks for it self. Really though the speakers were trash on the xoom, but the camera was way better than the iPad. It got kinda heavy, and the edges hurt my hand.

I buy stuff with BB all the time their 0% financing. I have bought 2 tvs with 36 month 0%. Paid them all off before due. I paid off my Mabook pro before it was due on 0% for 18 months. It is stupid to pay cash when they will give you free financing as long as you pay your bill on time. Had they had the VZ I would have bought it on the 18 months and never tried to sell anything on here. Sorry bud but my credit rating isn't tanking buy paying stuff off and never missing payments.

Not being a troll either. Seriously considering the Xoom as I have never seen as many rude people as I have seen on the mac forum. I guess they just think they are better than everybody else.

Wait for the galaxy tab, really..

Sorry if your e-feelings were hurt. If this place sucks so much, why are you still on here complaining about it?

You're going to stop buying a certain product just because of some people here? Umm, this is a Mac Forum so obviously you are going to see crap like that here. But hey, if you really feel like you need to go out of your way to get something else because of some people, then sure, go for it.

As far as Honeycomb goes:

It'll take a while to have a decent variety.

Hey, Jay. Sorry you've received the brunt of the rudeness of others on here. It happens. It even happens amongst "their own". But, the truth is, it also happens on the equivalent boards for Android, and for Windows, and for Linux, etc., etc. I don't think it has so much to do with Mac users, in general, thinking that they are better than everybody else, but rather to do with the type of personality that people who are the most vocal online tend to have.

So, while this advice may seem a little harsh, I think the best you can do is to try to grow a thicker skin, if you're going to spend much time in this online world.

As far as comparing the products goes, I would have to agree with what ThReMiX had to say, just about entirely. Xoom looks like a pretty cool product, but it's just not as well designed as the iPad. Sure, there are some features that are better than the iPad, but overall the iPad still wins, hands down.

Also, while again it has promise, Android, IMHO, isn't yet as refined and well thought through as iOS. Again, it has some features that are better than iOS, but overall iOS is still the better OS, easier and more intuitive to use, of the two.

Eventually, assuming Google can figure out how to get the perpetual beta business model to work for something as significant as a tablet OS, I'm sure there will be some great products akin to the Xoom that will be strong competitors to the iPad, but I don't see that now is that time. (Honestly, I'm looking forward to seeing what the webOS offerings will be, and how much of an ecosystem they can get in place and how fast...)

So, for the moment, I would strongly recommend you ignore the jerks on these forums and stick with the (currently) best and strongest tablet offering out there, the iPad.

I always thought xoom was a yoga chant, I've always been confused as to why it was talked about in a Mac forum... namaste, and xoom.

I knew a girl in high school that cut off all of her hair because she was mad at everyone. Yeah, she sure showed them.

Buy what you want because of personal preference. Don't buy something just to spite people you have never even met in person.

So I read (more like fast read / scan) this entire thread looking for a real comparison - None (didn't look at the utube vid tho). I'm with the OP. Yea, this is a Mac forum. Yea we've flipped our iPads for iPad 2 (2 of us - 64GB WiFis). And, yea, I've looked at the Xoom (via reading only) and wondered about any real comparisons. We're a Mac family. But I also have a DroidX (wife has VZ iphone). I don't give a flip about the edginess (IMHO) of the OP's initial post. Maybe it's what's resulted thru others' replies - I wouldn't know since I'm a relative NB to this forum. And, FWIW, I'm irritated by replies doing nothing other than tweaking (and providing a (IMHO) content-free reply); I just wasted (only a little tho) of my time slogging thru what I think of as waste on a forum. Been reading forums for lotsa years, tho not this one 'til 'recently'.

OTOH, vis-a-vis the real OP's question: No, I haven't looked personally. Decided to get the ip2 and wait until Honeycomb is available on a better platform. I like the upgrades ip2 brings (while maybe only incremental by some opinions). Smoother, faster, better in several ways, but certainly not major. More like an optimization and finalization of a product line before switching to their 'next big thing' along the ipad-type products. My 'feel' for the Xoom is it's, as another poster said, more like beta than after that in the product line evolution. And certainly not along the lines of the product state the initial ipad presented. Yet I really like the Dx. Won't explain since this is a Mac forum (and ipad more specifically). But, I AM waiting for a Honeycomb tablet along the same physical dimensions and feel of the ip2. And one that I can upgrade to the Honeycomb 3.1 version later this year. I do not like it that Apple (IMHO) constricts those of us who are rather capable of modding to our liking, easier in the 'other' OS. But what the heck? The ip2 is stable, easy to use, works nice for what I use it for, etc, and is a keeper for me, at least for a while. The real conflict (personally) will be later this year when the 3.1 version nears and there is at least one G-type operating system tablet w/a form factor like the current ip2. Now, if Apple'd really open up the ipad OS like we can do w/the MACs (whether on my Airs, or my Minis), then I'd say the playing field would be more leveled than where I think G is going.

If this is too rambling, sorry about that. But I tried to provide some form of feedback to the OP, given my limited field of view. Thanks to all for a useful forum; nice to get back to somma this after my initial encounters (goes back to the Mac 128 (I think - maybe a 256 or 512 or something - can't quite remember). I just remember that VT100 emulation w/a amber screen - was 'cool' way back then while running teams doing SW dev't. That last few sentences just for free - heh.

Well, no offense but IMHO if you're surprised with the kinds of responses the OP got, you haven't been around the internets near as much as you thought. The guy is just begging for attention and he got exactly what he deserved. Also, I've owned a Xoom and an iPad 2, and I'm not going to bother answering this question again, because there's already a plethora of information on that topic on this very forum already.

A lot of car owners are bad drivers AND rude, you should totally walk everywhere.

Good luck with that.

that's the way I decide to purchase all my products. Last week I bought a Honda because the people on the Toyota forums were being a bunch of jerks.
