Haha what? I’m dumbfounded by the love for the XR. That display PALES in comparison to the XS display. And a lot bigger? You mean by 7%? The battery doesn’t suck especially if you use dark modes with apps that support it. What sucks is the XR’s display.

You seem agitated. Did somebody hit you in the head with a XR? Those things are heavy.

Anyway: "Dumbfounded" and "PALES" are your opinion.

Do some research and you'll see that the XR is rendering the same points on the screen as the XS Max (XS Max at 3x, XR at 2x). That's objectively "more stuff". If you don't count the notch (no content goes in it and that's a fact), space on the X/XS's screen is surprisingly closer to the 4.7 inch phones than to Plus or XR.

If you have to use "dark modes", there's something wrong, isn't there? Instead of, like, just using apps normally.

The XS lasts the same as the X (which sucked), a lot less than the XS Max, and a LOT less than the XR. So there's that.

You can have a 1,000,000 ppi display or a phone with a lot more usability. Good to have the choice

Haha so is, “I don’t think there’s a comparison between the XS and XR.” Too funny. I know the XR shows more content on the screen, it just does so blurry. No bueno.

You need to do some research and understand that an OLED display is more efficient with average picture levels under 65% over LCD.

I have the XS Max and battery life isn’t that much different over the XS.

What does 65% picture level mean?

While LCDs remain more power efficient for images with mostly full screen white content (like all text screens on a white background, for example), OLEDs are more power efficient for typical mixed image content because they are emissive displays so their power varies with the Average Picture Level (average Brightness) of the image content over the entire screen. For OLEDs, Black pixels and sub-pixels don’t use any power so screens with Black backgrounds are very power efficient for OLEDs. For LCDs the display power is fixed and independent of image content.

Currently, OLED displays are more power efficient than LCDs for Average Pictures Levels of 65 percent or less, and LCDs are more power efficient for Average Picture Levels above 65 percent.

Since both technologies are continuing to improve their power efficiencies, the crossover will continue to change with time.

For OLEDs the Display Power depends on the Picture Content.

An entirely Black OLED Screen uses 0 watts of Display Power.

Honestly I don't think there's a comparison between the XS and the XR. The battery on the XS sucks, the display is a LOT smaller (and renders a lot less stuff). You don't need all that RAM with the XR's resolution and TBH the benchmarks have been showing that the XR is actually the fastest iPhone of the three.

With the XS Max it's another story entirely, however.

Xs battery life does not stuck.

Xs > Xr

These types of statements are baffling to me. ‘So blurry?’ I gather everyone has different perceptions of displays and eyesight, but not once have I ever encountered anyone outside this tech forum saying the XR is blurry. I’m fairly confident for the millions of XR’s Apple will sell, that’s generally not going to be a complaint that it’s blurry, maybe from a few anecdotal reports on Tech sites.

A couple of years ago or so I bought a phone that I thought was too big and decided not to return it during the 14-day return period thinking I would get used to it. I never did. I was stuck with it for a while a frustrated. You may be different and you might get used to it. I tell you my story because it's not automatic that you will "get used to the bigger size." You might just be frustrated for a long time like I was.

The whole OLED thing is sticking with me for some reason. Maybe what I really need to do is get the camera on my 8+ checked. I had posted a picture of my friends Newfie and the detail on the fur is just horrible. View attachment 812859
The level of detail is still sufficient enough to show that your dog is drooling like crazy.

2 hours (at least) less than XR. 1.5 hours less than XS Max. A lot more expensive than XR, just a little bit cheaper than XS Max. Awful purchase

I am a power user that came over from Android and the battery life on the Xs is excellent, far better than any Android I've ever had, I am extremely happy with it.

I could have gotten the Xr but the Xs is a better phone period, yes it costs more but it's better in several areas.

You should 100% go about justifying your purchase after the fact but the XS is probably the most compromised iPhone of the three.

I just traded in my 7+ for an 8+. Better screen than the XR <which my eyes demand>, I do not need the fancy bells and whistles of X phones, and no PWM.

As the OP is happy with their XR, enjoy!

Touch id is superior to face id.
No notch either on the 8 , so its a win win

I’m enjoying unlocking my phone with gloves on, or when my hands are wet etc. And the screen size of the max. Each tech has its pluses and minuses.
The max screen size is only slightly larger when notch taken into account.

But yea touch id is crap when my hands are wet, but for me its a better system overall.

Content can still be displayed edge to edge horizontally, at least on the max. Safari and YouTube will go edge to edge.

Horizontal Safari does not display content in the notch area.

The X-series phones are not 16:9 so “full screen” video is not only cropped around the notch but also at the upper and lower borders

I never said content was displayed in the note area. I said content were displayed edge to edge, which is accurate.

Why is anything but the 8 even being considered here? Better design, home button, solid antenna, better battery life, and most importantly, no ugly notch.

Because this is only your opinion and it’s obviously not shared by some or maybe even most? (not even sure why you think the 8 has better battery than Xr. That’s not even an opinion, that’s just an incorrect statement)

But she's a beautiful dog.. still a puppy.

I personally think Apple should make a phone with touch id and face id in the same phone, probably won’t happen though.[/QUO
Touch ID works best when you're not looking at the screen directly (in bed, on a table, etc.). For the rest, Face ID is better.
Actually, that was one of my questions. The bracket in my car is off center to my face. I'm assuming face id would be pretty much useless.
