Is it possible for the XS to bend from a drop? I’m paranoid now after dropping mine from bathroom counter into wooden floor with and without case once each...

These things come out of the box with slight bends anyway. So I wouldn’t worry about it.

So do you mean that yours is bent now (or was already)? How much bend? Try laying it face down on the counter top or place a ruler on the display and look if there is a slight gap. Then try to figure out how much the gap is. Easy way is to tear corners from copy paper and place them in the gap one by one. Each on is about 0.1 mm thick, so you get ballpark how much it is bent.

I'm still trying to figure out how much is within manufacturing limits because my bent one has pretty nice display but I don't want to risk too much if no bend is considered normal because if it ever break up during warranty they probably refuse to fix it due to bend if it is over tolerance. My other one with worse display also has very slight bent. Both of the phone make popping sounds, this more bend just much less almost unnoticeable. I was wondering if bending is causing the popping sounds. I think when glass parts are attached to body with double side tape, small curve will cause it is not tightly fit. Another phone we have that is completely straight never makes popping sound in normal use and only by twisting hard makes some sounds which I think is normal.

I thought that only affected the new iPad Pro?

After putting it down on paper, there was actually no difference that I can tell. Looking at my wife’s XS, it looks as flexed as mine but once on a flat surface there is no discernible bend. I think it must be all in my head at this point... This is coming from a prev owner of a slightly bent SE from using too tight of a case and a flexing and creaky 7 Plus so I am slightly paranoid. Maybe it’s an optical illusion from the XS case

Couple photos showing the problem.
Hard to say how much it is bent exactly but I could fit 2 pieces of copy paper, other side was a bit more but I could not fit third paper. Paper thickness is guess is around 0.1 millimeters, so gap it maybe 0.2 millimeters or little more.
My other phone (that has popping sound problem) has little smaller gap. This one in the photos also occasionally makes popping sound. My wife's phone is stright as an arrow and it does not make popping sound unless I really twist it, so it is OK.View attachment 812550 View attachment 812551

Check with the ruler. It is hard to see bare eye. I guess if it is bent enough screen protector will lift up. Mine seems OK for now as seen in the photos I have one installed. Interesting to see if it will lift up later due to bend.
How about putting the phone down on the screen side... that way the camera bump will not mess things up and will actually see if you could fit 2 pieces of copy paper. I don't trust this ruler thing.

No matter what I used to measure it with, there is a gap. I'm always facing down the display side or measuring it with the ruler. I know camera bump will mess up measurements so I haven't been concentrating on that side at all (well, I did put ruler against back cover too once and it was about the same there, of course bent another way so gap was kind in the middle then). Gap is still quite small so placing it face down on the counter does not reveal anything huge and probably some would not even notice it because it does not really rock like a boat, but when looking very carefully from sides, you'll see it. But I'm sure service center may look for that on every phone, so I don't know if they will honour possible warranty repair if ever needed. I guess bent phones are considered user induced damage and how can you prove that later it was like that from the factory. Having two more or less broken X out of the box looks to me QC is outsourced to phone owner. :(

Source? I mean, where are you concluding the ‘XS’ comes out of the box with a ‘slight’ bend? Otherwise, my XS Disagree’s with your unverified statement.

I really enjoy how manufacturing defects are now fully embraced by the Apple community if Apple says it's okay

If Apple says everything's fine if your brand new MacBook Pro doesn't work, are you guys going to defend that too?

Observation i have made also laying the phones flat you can see it.
Not a big deal anyway as i use a case for my phones.

Same here, I have Apple leather case and it fits there nice. Just upper volume button is slightly stickier maybe due to bend but not that bad.

Guys, I think he simply was implying every one he saw was, perhaps not all.

The stainless steel and glass is nearly impossible to bend by hand (JerryRig). But since each one I’ve had has this slight curvature on end, it’s either crazy luck (after like 6 of these since the X) I’ve had or just inherent mold design of the X in general.

I was just curious of other folks devices out there :)

Really? Are actually trying to tell me what I see? If you think every iPhone X, Xs and Max are slightly bent, you're ridiculous

It's true, a LOT of these phones have very slight bends to them right out of the box, noticeable when looking down the long edge at a low 10 degree angle. You'd never see it any other way, but I assure you, a lot of these phones are bent, be it as a result of manufacturing processes or what have you.
