Has anyone noticed any screen flickering.

The best way to describe it is my autobrightness is struggling to adjust correctly.

I’ve noticed it twice today and lasted a couple of seconds while using it. Last happened using WhatsApp.

There are no blue/red lines etc.

No. Is it only just in 3rd party apps or do you see that happening in Apple apps or web surfing?

Only seen it twice today, the first time was on the home screen - I thought it was the lighting in the shopping centre but it did it again at home while using WhatsApp.

I’m gutted because this screen is perfect and there are no other marks on the device - I don’t want to swap it for one with other issues.

Keep an eye on it. It might be fine. Honestly when I was first setting up my phone there were all kinds of things going on I didn’t pay attention to. I don’t start giving the o_O deep look at the phone for serious issues until day 3. Everything until then is preliminary impressions.

Thank you. You’re right, it concerned me because I’ve had many phones and had a similar issue but with horizontal coloured lines that would come and go - Apple swapped it out immediately.

It felt like autobrightness was on steroids and lasted for 2-3 seconds.

Well keep us posted. I’ve had this happen on my Pixel 2. Not quite a flash but auto brightness on the two HTC made phones I’ve owned so far were so bad I had to turn them off. There might have been something messing with the sensors. It should not become a common thing for an iPhone to do. If you see it happening again over the next couple of days, definitely avail yourself of the return period.

Thank you.

It’s just happened again on here and in Google Photos. It is uneven flickering and now my autobrightness has gone very low.

I have a X here and that’s absolutely fine under the same lighting.

Could have a potential fault on the sensor.

Yikes. Definitely not normal. I’m no tech expert so I would definitely take it to the Geniuses at the Apple Store if you have one near you.

Thanks. I will do.

Here’s a Google Photos link showing my autobrightness going mad. Held the X side by side and the X didn’t do this.

Reboot to see if that helps. My MAX screen has been perfect.
Did that, no luck - thanks.

Nothing here on XS Max, but TBH it's been on 12.1 beta since I bought it so not really and apples to apples test. Suggest reset all settings to see if that sorts it before a genius appointment.

Experienced this a couple of times while on Max Brightness

Maybe it is software related then but I swapped mine and haven't had the problem since, so I'm not sure.

[doublepost=1537831488][/doublepost]Yes I have seen the flickering and it is real. I see it in my apple calendar app. When I first open the app the calendar wording will shift a few times very quickly.

My XS is flickering as well. Seems to be related to the brightness slider. When I go to the brightness settings and enter a room that is brighter or darker, I see the slider move as normal. As soon as is passes under the letter S in “brightness” it flickers once. I tried moving it manually, and I get the same issue at the same spot. It’s annoying, since it constantly goes up and down as I move around, and causes the flicker every time. Never had this with my 9 iPhones before this one. I hope it’s software related and there’s a fix on the way.

I was having flicker hell getting through setup for a family
Member but after that I was good. Thought at first We had a lemon.

True Tone on and off all around while using the phone not the case

I'm having the same issue. Are you on the iOS 12.1 beta? I'm really hoping this is a beta issue and not a hardware issue...

Exactly the same?

I think it was related to the auto brightness sensor too - my replacement phone doesn't do it.

I was on iOS 12.
