will leopard have iLife 08 built in, the same way tiger has ilife07 built in?
also whats the difference in the family pack and single licence, i mean are there any limitations to buying the single licence and installing it on more than one mac?

A new mac comes with the latest OS and iLife suite so when leopard comes out it will ship with latest iLife suite so iLife 08.

Tiger doesn't include iLife at all. Leopard won't ether.

Its illegal to install iLife single licence on more than one mac (I think they may allow one desktop and one laptop) Thats not to say it wouldn't work.

Lucky. ;P I just ordered the upgrade off the website for $9.95. I was told if you purchased a Mac within two weeks of today you're eligible for the $9.95 upgrade. I should have just asked for a copy in-store, lol. Oh well.

Does this apply for people who ordered a Mac and did not purchase iLife?

life 06 is separate from the retail version of tiger...

but 79 dollars is a very good price for the software you are getting, are you kidding me, a photo editor, dvd authoring software, video editing suite, and the somewhat useless garage band all for only 79 dollars? This is a great deal, NO ONE should be complaining about it.

apple docent seem to care though, not like microsoft

i guess apple figures their hardware is too expensive for most people to own more than one system...

 I hope you were joking about stealing software from Apple!!!

What are we? Windows users? Support your company, pay for iLife '08!

The Stig

I don't really see how can someone support a company by calling them to get a free software.

Why pay for something when you could be entitled to it for free?

It would be stupid buying a Mac with iLife '06 from today (since not all stock wil have iLife '08) and then paying for iLife '08. That isn't supporting your company, that's just pure stupidity.

Well, that's not really the question. The quesiton is whether it's $79 better than iLife06 (or earlier version). There's no one who has a mac that can run iLife 08 who doesn't have some version of iLife.

Do you think they'd give me iLife '08 either free or at a reduced price...I just bought my MacBook Pro July 20th and it shipped July 25th. (Received it on Monday the 27th).

Apple desperately NEEDS that $10, have you seen its stock?

please, support apple so it can buy shoes so it wont hurt it's feet when it walks around the filthy, rocky streets of San Francisco.

What is this iLife '08 Up-to-date all about? Kinda confused.

If you buy any of those computers in that list after today (7th August) then you are entitled to get a free copy of iLife '08 if your computer didn't ship with it.

I think Apple should let me call and make June 14th (when I got my MBP) qualify as being after August 7th, then I could get iLife 08 for free!

I hear ya, lol. That reminds me, I need to call Apple about another issue that they haven't resolved with me yet.

good to wait

I guess I must be lucky to have faulty MBP and wireless keyboard....

smaller power adapter,
free iLife 08
New sleek wireless keyboard

and good thing i procrastinate,... i send in my MBP the last minute

But i hope my replacements are perfect,....

But 2 more months before the new MBP, Leopard,..... maybe I should procrastinate more?

As cool as iLife '08 is, I don't know how often I would use any of the programs. I'm glad I ordered my MBP two months ago!

I second that question? Will Leopard have iLife 08 built in? If thats the case, then i might as well cancel my purchase of iLife 08 right now!!! No sense paying for it twice.

Right?

I wasn't aware this is the case when you buy Tiger a'la carte; I thought you only got the OS and a few built-ins, like iChat, etc... not the iLife bundle.

Since I've never purchased any version of OS X, only indirectly bought them when I bought various Macs, I don't know firsthand. If this was the case with Tiger, then I suppose it would be the case with Leopard; and of course vice-versa.

And as far as installing one license on multiple machines, why not just go the extra mile and hold-up an apple store? Regardless of "if it will work," it is still mad mojo. Support your choice of software and hardware companies and pay for what you want. Plus the family license isn't all that much more expensive.

Well, I just called Apple and after about 15 minutes of hearing some lame Dashboard Confessional song I got to speak to someone. I asked if my MBP, which I ordered about a week ago and still hasn't shipped would include ilife 08. They told me all orders placed before the 7th would not be shipping with 08, and I would have to order it separately. But someone I spoke to on Apple.com's chat service said all Mac's that have not shipped yet will include it. So, yeah...I don't know what to do or who to believe. And if it is coming with it, I'd like to know if this is going to delay shipping any further.

I ordered my macbook on 8/3. It is scheduled for delivery on 8/9. I called Apple and this is what went down:

me: I ordered my macbook on 8/3 and I wanted to know if it came preloaded with iLife 08.

csr: No.

me: I wanted to see if there was going to be an upgrade available.

csr: Glad you called to ask. Since your laptop is in transit already, we'll send you a free copy.

me: Thanks.

Good luck.

I purchased my Mac Pro Book at the Apple Store on 8/3. Spoke to ACS on 8/7 stating that since I bought my Mac Pro only a couple of days earlier, can they qualify me for the $9.95 upgrade. Since I bought mine at the store, the sales rep made me purchase iLife 08 online at the full price and after providing him the order number, he went ahead and gave me a discount.

that's the exact same situation as mine, i'll give that a try. what phone number did you call? doesn't hurt for me to try to get a discount.
