I will take a look and evaluate when I get a minute. To me, it's important that Flickr remains Flickr. There's 500px for that bit of me with pretentions to being a serious photographer, but I like the stream and social aspects of Flickr. I guess Flickr's excellent groups aren't changing a great deal, perhaps other than improvements in photo presentation?

Just an FYI to all that I believe there is still a 300mb per month upload limit on free accounts... that's less than 100 smartphone pics a month, or 25 SLR images.

And pretty much means it will take you 291 YEARS to take advantage of that 1TB.

My pro runs till 08/2014, or at least it should, but I was given the option to downgrade only till 2013 sometime. Does that mean they wont honour my existing payment? The info page want very clear to me.

As for the new layout...not sure about it atm.

A terabyte per person holy crap where are all the hard drives?

"There's no hard drives, it's all in the cloud!" :p

edit: anyone care to elaborate on this "500px" bit? To me, it means "500 pixels" and it makes no sense since even 0.3 megapixels photos are larger than this...

Wait, I don't get it. Why hide if you get 1TB of free storage?

Not only that, the 1TB storage seems to be literally a gimmick - there are 300Mb per month(!) upload limits, 3 min restrictions for HD videos etc. There is no way anyone will be actually able to use the free 1TB! For extra fun - the site looks like crap and half of my photos failed to load in reasonable time.

Oh well nothing changed under Marissa Mayer - more acquisitions and more nonsensical feature additions.

If anyone can create an app to upload my entire Aperture library to Flickr in a few clicks, I will be forever grateful.

I'm telling you, Yahoo is up for a comeback.

Goodbye Picasa web that copy an altered version of my photos and upload all my camera roll without asking and add unwanted tags, hello Flickr with 1TB of space!

**** you Yahoo!!!!!!!! I have gotten hundreds of thousands of views on my account over the last few years, making Yahoo a lot of ad money, but will delete every simgle thing on my account if they keep this ******** UI. Clearly I am not the only pissed user... 203 Comments on this thread, with only two people stating that they would rather use the new UI than the older pages.

Where are you seeing the limit ?

The website says

"Starting on 5/20/2013, members with free accounts on Flickr will have:

1 Terabyte of space
Upload and download in full original quality. Up to 200MB per image
Ability to create “Collections”
Post any of your photos or videos in up to 60 group pools
Limitation of maximum image size available to others"

300Mb doesn't make sense if you can upload 200MB images.

The old free account was 300MB

"How many photos and videos can I upload for free?

When you have a free Flickr account, you can upload 2 videos and 300MB worth of photos each calendar month.

While the 300MB bandwidth limit for photos is firm, we do allow a little leeway for video in case you encounter transcoding errors, sound sync weirdness, etc. You will be able to delete and upload a new video. Please note, that if we determine you’re abusing your free video upload privileges, we may block your ability to share video.

Your upload limits are reset to zero at midnight in Pacific Time Zone (Flickr headquarters time) on the first of each calendar month. You can't recover any of your monthly allowance by deleting photos. If you have a free account, you'll see your limit on the upload page.

If you find yourself hitting your limit, try a pro account. Or, you can shoot your photos at a lower resolution or resize them to be more "web-friendly" (like 300KB instead of 5MB)."

Aha - so they just updated the limits page to remove that possible leftover from old free account. Now it makes more sense. Hopefully the old photo sets will be back too.

FINALLY! Flickr was awful for looking at contacts photos, I don't care if someone spam commented on one of my photos, I want to see what others are shooting!

Glad they've made it so much easier. And the new UI is pretty damn good too, I have high hopes for Yahoo, maybe not in their current iteration, but they're definitely doing good things at the moment, small, but good.

I'm still trying to figure out what Flickr is doing with the Pro accounts. Here's what the new FAQ says:

Starting on 5/20/2013, we will no longer be offering new Flickr Pro subscriptions. After that point, the following things will happen:

-Recurring Pro users currently have the ability to renew.
-Eligible Pro members have the option to switch to a Free account until 8/20/2013.
-The “Gift of Pro” will no longer be available for purchase.
-Pro users will no longer appear with a “Pro” badge beside their name or buddy icon.

So it sounds like current Pro users can still get an ad-free experience for $25/month, but it's a bit unclear.

That's what I figure. As a Pro user I've been trying to work out if it's worth renewing. It looks like you get all your current benefits for $25 a year so long as you keep renewing. Those benefits are reduced though, since 1TB is effectively unlimited storage for most people. I suppose you get ad-free for half the price like you say. I haven't received an email from them yet though, hopefully that clears everything up.

I just hit 300 mb upload limit and it brought me to the "purchase paid account" page to continue :( think there are still some bugs

And still we can't download entire sets. If I want to download a group of photos, I have to do it one at a time with about five mouse-clicks per photo. I find that very ridiculous.

I received my email seconds after hitting 'Submit Reply'. It says, "As a Pro Member, your subscription remains the same. You'll enjoy unlimited space for your photos and videos, detailed stats and an ad-free experience. However, you can switch to a Free account before August 20, 2013. "

I still can't decide if that's worth it. Probably not.

Wow! Yahoo is starting to kick some major a$$ this year! About time!

Supposedly, Apple is working with Yahoo to have better integration in the iPhone.

Darn it - I thought they will unhide my older photo sets that disappeared when I stopped paying the Pro fee, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Sigh.

I'm not sure if there is a limit. I still get directed to the pay to upgrade page as of tonight. Maybe the changes aren't all together.
