No one is going to come close to 1TB. That's just to make them headlines. I have a pro account and have been grandfathered in at $24.99. I wonder if I can deal with ads and just keep the $25. Besides, why pay $500 for another 1TB when you can just create another Yahoo account.

Not really sure where this leaves me......

In the UK through BT we had access to a Flickr Pro account which we used pretty extensively (30k plus pictures at last count).

I looked on the account settings page and it says I can keep the pro account as long as i use the BT service.

What happens if my Pro Account expires?

Since May 20, 2013, Pro accounts can no longer be purchased. You can enjoy unlimited storage as long as your Pro account is active. If your Pro account expires, it will revert to a free account with a storage limit of 1 Terabyte.

So going by that as a pro user I can carry on as is, question though is whether i will benefit from the large movie upload limit or whether as a "pro" i will be capped.

Yahoo isn't kidding around lately. They're getting back in the ring and don't want us to forget it. :)

Now they just need to call their ad/spy/malware toolbars off all the PCs they infected, starting with my English teacher's laptop... and stop using Bing search.

Make an image with ridiculous dimensions, save as TIFF, upload :D

is it just me or has a link to the account setting page gone from within Flickr?

I know the url is http://www.flickr.com/account/ but i cant find it when I am in the site. I would have thought it was on one of the drop down but it isnt....only way to link to it is through the search window..

EDIT never mind - found it - you need to hover over your picture in the top right and go to settings.

So it looks like Flickr Pro users without a recurring subscription will need to switch to the free tier or the ad free tier, but Flickr Pro users that do have a recurring subscription can continue to pay $24.95 for unlimited uploads and no ads.

Where does it say this? I hope this is true. Fifty bucks per year is borderline for me vs. keeping (yet another) offsite backup. I wouldn't mind ads if I was using Flickr just to share photos, but that's not my primary reason for using Flickr.

I’ve heard that Flickr Pro is no longer being offered. How does that affect me?

Starting on 5/20/2013, we will no longer be offering new Flickr Pro subscriptions. After that point, the following things will happen:

Recurring Pro users currently have the ability to renew.
Eligible Pro members have the option to switch to a Free account until 8/20/2013.
The “Gift of Pro” will no longer be available for purchase.
Pro users will no longer appear with a “Pro” badge beside their name or buddy icon.

I will use less than 1 GB of storage, but signed up anyway. I'm the type of sucker they were hoping to get.:p

when i try to export an album via aperture, it says full resolution is available for flickr pro only...

is this just something that aperture needs an update for?

1TB of free space?! happy happy, joy joy...

Holy crap, Flickr is offering 1TB of free space now?! Sure glad I didn't renew my "pro" account with them earlier this year. :)

I love that Apple keeps upping the megapixels on their iPhone cameras, but then gives you a ridiculous 5gb in iCloud. What a joke.

1TB, though, that is kinda crazy in the other direction. Very generous.

I am so hoping Yahoo makes a massive rebound and ends up again becoming a viable competitor in its respective markets. (especially for Google) I always have loved Yahoo Mail and Messenger, and their news/articles. Flickr, can't really see myself using, though I probably have an account from years ago I've never touched. :p Still, if this move proves successful, I hope that they can keep the ball rolling.

**** you Yahoo!!!!!!!! I have gotten hundreds of thousands of views on my account over the last few years, making Yahoo a lot of ad money, but will delete every simgle thing on my account if they keep this ******** UI. Clearly I am not the only pissed user... 203 Comments on this thread, with only two people stating that they would rather use the new UI than the older pages.

This happens because users always says when they are not happy but rarely leave positive feedback. Nowadays the important thing is to whine and write message like yours, I understand if you are 11years old.

Ah the new UI rock BTW.

Because you should empty camera roll. It is called this way for this reason.

This makes no sense...

$0 for ads and 1TB of space

$50 for no ads and 1TB of space

$500 for no ads and 2TB of space

?

Why would anybody in their right mind sign up for the $500 offer if they can get the same amount of space, ad free, for just $100?

What are they thinking?

Yeah, i don't get it, just create 2-3-4 accounts and add up the TB's.

Photostream has iirc a limit of 1000 pictures - no matter the megapixels...

Haha, no. No, no, no. It's because you should BUY MORE STORAGE. Apple has NOT developed the iPhone into a device with which you take photos and only keep them on there temporarily. Apple has NOT named the camera roll that to indicate that we're supposed to empty it, they've named it camera roll to indicate that this is where all photos reside, as opposed to the user created albums where you can organise your photos.

When using the "Share" option from iPhoto, it's still impossible to upload images in full size, as that requires Flickr Pro. As Flickr Pro no longer exists, should these greyed-out options become available?

They aren't right now.

Yeah you can? The option is "Same as original".

Yahoo are setting them selves up to really get in bed with Apple.

I really like yahoo as a company so this is great.

Wow, I might actually get back to using my dead Flickr account again!

The 200 photo limit just made me use Dropbox instead, I didn't see why anyone would want to use Flickr…

I really, really hope that this is the answer to all of us who want to be able to access our iPhoto library from anywhere. Imagine being able to link iPhoto to flickr and have everything, or selected events/albums/faces sync automatically. It would be Photostream on steroids, growth hormones and testosterone...

It's an awesome update! The website looks clean and renewed! Not bothered about the slight increase in Pro membership because mine doesn't run out until January and I don't need 2TB. Really nice to see Flickr growing further into something really cool!

I'm the same (although only about 3k pictures so far!). It was a nice addition to the BT service when it was added, as I'd had a year as a Pro member before the BT/Yahoo tie-up. Now I just need to warn elderly relatives that the link they have for my photos may *look* different, but they'll still be able to see them!

Wow, talk about throwing your toys out of the pram! Maybe you should lay off the sugary drinks for a while.....

Seriously, though, I know it looks different, but what is actually wrong with it? You can still do all you could before. I quite like it....
