My iPhone 12 PM replacement was shipped today. Hopefully, I win the screen lottery this time. 🤞

So I'm quite new to all of this.

Here are two pictures of my PM pacific blue. It definitely looks warmer than my original iPad Pro but then again it is not too unpleasant to my eyes (but eh). TT is naturally warmer because I'm sitting in a room with dim and warm lights. Anyway, the SN of the phone is:

G0NDN, production week is the 45th, so around early November.

The SN for the display starts with G9N0 although I'm not sure if that is good or bad.

The phone exhibits the green tint blinking issue and has a slight gap at the bottom. Not sure if to keep or return. What do you guys think?

Does no one have an opinion on this? I'm pretty conflicted here.

Compared to the previous iphone, it looks yellow-green when the truetone is turned off
However, it appears to be blue in color when seen in isolation.
The yellowish impression may be due to the fact that True Tone responds too accurately to ambient light.
I compared the 12promax and the iphoneX with a light that can be dimmed with a piece of white paper next to it.
I observed it in the warmest light, the coldest light, the natural light, and also in sunlight.
In all cases, 12promax looked more yellow, but 12promax was closer to the color of the paper.
Still, if you ask me which screen looked whiter, I'd say the iphonex.
What should we think about this?

I think quite a few people on here should stop inspecting their iPhones for days on end with microscopes and magnifying glasses. Of course if there is a glaring defect with the naked eye, then it is certainly worth exchanging the phone for a new one. However, the folks that are exchanging their phone 10, 15, or 20 times over are going overboard.

For me after an attempt to exchange (because I’m not going to exaggerate I’m not going to have to make 5 changes ) I found the solution ...change brand:) and guess what now I have a pure black and a white as white as a white

Thanks, Apple, but it’s over between us
Good that changing the brand worked for you...a lot of users are knee deep in the “apple ecosystem “ so they can’t jump ship 🚢 even if they want to 😕

This thread is hilarious. I wonder how many of you here realize that when you take a photo of your phone, the camera that you’re using to take the photos of your screens is applying its own white balance corrections to the image, so your photos are very likely not totally accurate in color.
It has been written many times in this thread, but I suppose that in your thirst to write your rather unneccesary post you didnt go through the thread to search for it.

With that said. Even though the camera you use to take the picture of your phone might not get the white balance of that particular shot right - the picture will be taken at a set white balance nonetheless.

When you put your 12 and your old phone next to eachother, if there is a discrepancy between the two, it will mean that the white balance is off on one of them. Even though the colors in the particular photo isnt accurate to the eye you can still use the information to judge if the two (or more) screens are similars.

I don’t understand how some people come to the conclusion (without being asked) that they need to tell others what to do and what not to do.

Anyway, I agree that it doesn't make sense to "exchanging their phone 10, 15, or 20 times." However, I believe that if the phone doesn't meet the expectations of the buyer, then it is up to each buyer to decide whether to use one of the options (like refund or replacement device) provided by Apple.

Btw. I haven’t found in hundreds of posts someone who returned the phone 10 times, so I don’t understand where these numbers come from or what you want to achieve with it.

I bet Samsung displays are much worse regarding yellow tint.
probably the opposite, people complain about Samsung screens being too vibrant. They have the best displays and if it wasn't for me preferring iOS over Android I would totally get one of their phones.

guys I tried all the possible combinations on color filters but I could never find the right calibration .. in the end, after a thousand attempts, I set color filters as the photo but the screen was bluish white and to compensate for the blue color I switched on the night shift .. have you tried this combination?

Just saw this on Apples support forums and thought it was interesting. If you go to Settings -> Wallpaper and tap on the homescreen preview, the preview is significantly more saturated than your actual homescreen.

Does this on my 12, as well as my wife's X.

Yep. See my video. Not sure what to make of it though. Looks better on the preview but if I can record it then it’s not screen related. Though the effect is more apparant on the screen than the recording.

do not use 0 intensity...for me what worked best is intensity around 15% and tone around 55%, plus white point =0

Got my new Pro 12 Max yesterday and yes, it had a yellow tint. After disabling TT I used some calibration under accessibility and reached a better result than as released from factory. Anyway the fact that you can improve the white balance working on the settings, it makes me hope and trust that this issue can be solved with a software adjustment.

Nice question.
We can’t judge by a picture because every camera has it’s own white correction so you must decide by yourself.

I experimented this some days ago: with a specific focus the panel was able white, with a different focus it became (just in the picture obviously) completely different.

if your not satisfied you can swap, there’s some chance you pick up something better.

the best way to understand if model is really yellow is to make a real life comparison with another unit but these days it’s not so easy.

about the gap: the most of the models have some gap running around the frame, but it’s not an assembly fault as a user well explained some pages ago. So let move on on this point.

Believe me, no one on the forum can tell if you model is yellow or not from a picture.

The only certainty we have is the the 12 is way more yellow than 11. How more? Not just “a bit”.
