Sure bro cool story

Show me a single review where they find that iPhone displays are too yellow? Anandtech when they have done iPhone reviews also show that the displays are accurate, as do display mate, guess they are all randomly getting these elusive perfect screens too?

Dude you totally cracked it. You’re the first one to ever put this theory in one of these threads. I only wish you were around 10 years ago to tell us this. We could’ve avoided so much hassle if we just knew that we just had super accurate screens.

Like the one posted here by Andrew23. The one on the left is the accurate one right? Never mind the fact that if you take a screenshot and put the output on a color calibrated Monitor it will look like the one on the right but let’s not worry about that. Accurate means dialing yellow up so far that you can’t see any other color right?

So use a calibration device to show that the yellow screen isn’t accurate then? Oh wait, none of you ever actually do that, do you?

Sure people have over the years and they’ve measured things like 4000K for some of these bad screens.

So I’m usually not too picky but I’m returning my phone. I have a black 12 pro.

it looked warm when I turned it on. Have had it since launch so like a week now. I put it next to my wife’s iPhone X and it was neither as bright and was quite yellow.
I went to the Apple store to make sure I wasn’t crazy. The lady at the Apple store at first was like “it’s pretty similar”.
She then turned off True Tone on both, made sure dark mode and a few other things were off, checked the colour option wasn’t warm. After she did all the settings, unfortunately, The display phone in store was noticeably brighter and much nicer and whiter. She then asked me if I was sure I didn’t have a screen protector or something on my one. I also compared to my sisters iPhone 12, and her screen is whiter and brighter. So much for 800nits lol
Lol this one is going back on Friday. Also I have some gripes on the camera.
Basically the pro with its LiDAR sensor really struggles blurring the background on portrait mode with that effect on.
My iPhone 12 pro would lose focus and and have everything in focus (when it shouldn’t) and it took up to 20 secs to get a decent blur effect on background.
the regular 12 did the trick within 2 secs every time. I’m going to write a quick thing in the camera thread. But I will say the pro when it worked gave more detail on my jumper but it really struggled to get the shot.
quick example attached. I took a photo of the regular 12 with pro and vice versa. I’ve attached the pros efforts. Good when it worked. But it gave me the bad example 8/10 attempts.

Here are two 12 Pro phones next to each other. Marginal differences if you ask me. Compared with my XR they are both yellow and somewhat low contrast.

I'm in Europe, if that makes a difference... maybe all the "good" screens are going to the US market?

The one on the left looks decent

Same situation here, also from Europe. Two 12 pro's, both have a slight yellow tint and low contrast. I'm sending them back. If you don't like these you can contact Apple, and they will help you out with new ones.

Apple customer service is pretty good (so far). Do you also experience alot of color shift when looking at the 12 pro's from a slight angle ?

Just curious what did you do?

Send back the replacement which has the back glass?
I asked for a second replacement. When that came and still didn't have a better screen I asked for a third. I haven't sent the first two back yet and am waiting on the third one to get here. I have until the 9th to send back the first replacement so I should be able to compare all four phones. Ironically, as it stands currently, the first replacement with the back glass that's a little more yellow might actually be the one I end up keeping since I guess it has a better screen than the original or second replacement.

My second replacement;
iPhone X on the left / iPhone 12 pro on the right.

edit: True Tone off on both and nightshift is also off; max brightness.

Looking at it straight on I can see a slight difference:

Considering keeping it but in two minds.

yeah the replacement isn't any better; been checking online everywhere and the consensus seems to be the displays are just warmer, even documented by some you tube reviewers;

Would be good to see a 'correctly calibrated/near perfect' iPhone 12/Pro display compared to an X or 11. I've only seen one in this entire thread and that's comparing it against an iPhone 4/5 (I think) which was pretty dated.

stop comparing it side by side and you wont even notice in a day
True! Like others have mentioned spending that much money on a device like this you'd expect it to be near perfect rather than not notice something that's there.

I mean if this is how the displays are now then I'm willing to accept it but for now that question hasn't been answered.

Indeed, but like some others have said on this thread, the definition of a perfect phone is also subjective from person to person. Of course when you have spent $1000+ on a phone, you have the right to swap it until you get "your" perfect phone, but it does seem most phones this year have a warmer color profile.

I've been using my 12P since release day, and now looking at your comparison pic I actually think the 12P looks better than your X, which just seems so dim and muted. But again, that's probably because my eyes have gotten used to the warmer profile in these 10 days. I'm not gonna tell you to replace or keep your device like others on this thread. There's no right or wrong here, just do what you think works for you.

I guess I have been Lucky as I have never had this problem (I have had a few others). From the 3gs,4,5,6,6s,X, and 12pro I have not encountered a yellowed screen (that can't be attributed to a setting in the device). Those are just mine. My family has been lucky as well, none of them either. My coworkers have been lucky too. In the grans scheme this is a very small percentage of the population getting iPhones and some did not get "Launch day" phones so they are removed from this. Seems like it it was wide spread I should have encounter one somewhere.

If you experience this issue definitely get it back to Apple for a replacement.

That’s how my XS is vs the pro ... I find it more natural .. I would keep it!

That is just a stupid reply.

You will notice it alot. The 12 pro is a pro device. Pro. Its not just meant for media consumption but media creation. For that purpose the 12 pro screen has to be close to the screen that its media output is going to be shown on.

It’s hilarious and on the verge of blatantly stupid to accept a less than perfect screen on a device as the iPhone pro. I guess you could live with it if you only watched Netflix and porn on it, but why buy a pro phone then.

this is so true, especially the porn part. you want that to be as accurately as possible including all the colors.
