Howd you get them to send you 2? Thats impressive. Just cur what color iPhone is yours?
Well for the first replacement I just explained that it was much more yellow than my previous 11 Pro, and provided photos to Apple support. For the second replacement I explained that it still didn't really fix the yellow issue but that in addition to that it also had a yellower back glass. For the third replacement which is now on its way, I honestly didn't have to explain much other than this is a replacement that doesn't fix the issue. The third replacement chat conversation was honestly the easiest one out of all of them. And the color is Pacific Blue.

You guys all need to get a life! 😂
Says the person who took time out of their day instead of doing something else with their life to comment on a thread telling other people their problems aren't worthy of discussion.

You dont have enough data points to make that conclusion. you only have your own limited experience.

Here is what we can conclude based on your experience:
Your phone is yellow. There are also 5-6 yellow display phones at your personal local apple store.

Thats literally it. Thats all you can conclude.

Screen veterans in this thread have gotten non yellow screens. I've seen them as well at 4 different apple stores. Non yellow screens do exist. Within a month or so, they will all be non yellow.

This is a worse year than others, but I remember the iPhone 7 and iPhone X both were bad yellow years. Both ended up having plenty of good screens in the wild, just took 4-6 weeks after launch. Looks like this year is similar.
First, I did not see “5-6 display phones”. I saw over 20 unique phones and compared all with my X and my yellow 12. Last week I checked the ones on the 2nd floor, this week the ground floor and 2 retail stores.

Had I even seen just one which had a significantly cooler tone, I would be inclined to believe you. But I didn’t see a single one. They all were yellow, with some slightly better or worse than others.

Without a single photo in this thread demonstrating that there exist 12s with cool screens, and only isolated reports of any such screens existing, how can I reasonably conclude otherwise?

Also, your rhetoric about “display war against Apple” and some conspiracy about them swapping out display phones is getting tiresome.

Received my second express replacement today and still not really happy.

The only reason I even bothered to check again this week is because I gave you the benefit of the doubt. I heard that you believed they swapped out bad displays

Nooo I meant how did you get them to keep sending? Anytime I did express replacement they would put the hold on my CC. But Id have to send 1 phone back before getting another. The most they would let me have is 2

Agree, I have not seen one person post a picture of their “good” display.

Oh...they just asked if another hold on my card was fine and I said yeah.

do you have ac+ and stuff? bc i know it gets transferred automatically when they set it up so be careful about that for whichever phone you keep
I don't have AC+, just the regular warranty. But yes you're right, once they issue a replacement that is considered your new "active" device for warranty purposes as if it were the one you purchased. I will also have to contact them to let them know which one I decide to keep if it doesn't end up being the next one that comes.

Original: DNPDF
1st Replacement: DNPDJ
2nd Replacement: DNPDK

So, progressively later but still varying in different ways.

Yeah I know serial numbers have nothing to do with anything, just a small hobby to see what differences they have. Very interesting all 3 were DNP.

Agreed, a lot of variance for the very same factory. Over a period of at least five weeks.

Have you even read the thread then? Because there have been a ton of pictures of good screens.

Also, point to a post where, outside of the OP, I push the swap idea? "Getting tiresome" - are you just re-reading the OP?

Look if you want to give up and live with a yellow 12 and pretend they are all that way, fine, do so. You won't be the first to give up and insist a phone generation is "just yellow" (and then doesn't question the next year when people compare that year's yellow screens to somehow non yellow prev gen screens).

I've seen bad years before. But rest assured there will be good screens. I know they exist based on the evidence in this thread and the units Ive seen at 3 apple stores. So I personally will not accept a yellow screen.

There have been no photos of 12s compared with older known good iPhone displays. Only 12s in isolation or 12s compared with other 12s.

I appreciate what you’re saying and frankly I’m not happy with my display at all. But I’m at an impasse because the retailer I bought from has no change of mind return policy. And Apple themselves say they can’t help me or replace my screen because all 12s they compared with are like that. And this is consistent with what I saw in my observations. So I don’t think I’m “pretending”. It’s possible that by some crazy luck all the ones in Sydney are faulty. But I think we should bury the hatchet here before this thread becomes an argument thread.

Try calling Apple support and getting a replacement phone shipped out. In past years, Genius bar phones had a higher rate of "good" screens.

What really kills me is that every 3rd party cheap replacement screen always has perfect color temps. It's like, Apple cant even match the QC of the repair guys.

My Pro just arrived today that I ordered about 2-weeks ago, so it’s in the second or so manufacturing batch I assume.

The display is warmer than my 11 Pro’s, but not egregiously so. I also immediately turn True Tone off because I feel that it’s a bit aggressive. As soon as I stopped using my 11 Pro and 12 Pro side-by-side I adjusted and it looks fine.

While I know some people surely get bad units, I also think this tech-oriented crowd is looking for issues. I mean, the first thing you do with your new phone is blast brightness to 100% and post an image of it sitting next to the prior year’s device to get internet strangers to weigh in on screen temperature?

I think by and large, this year is just the standard display variation aside from a few edge cases.

@Traverse

Yes that´s it, but on the other site, this is a technical forum, so it is absolutley fine to expect a perfect device even if the word "perfect" does mean different things for some people.

I hope I will get a good one this time. My actual XS Max is a little bit yellow, but the bigger problem is that my display is not uniform. I get my phones from work, so I wasn´t able to exchange it by myself and my IT department didn´t think that it is a big thing, so they also didn´t send it in for exchange.

So now I am hoping for an uniform not too yellowish 12 Pro Max soon. :)

Someone who actually calibrates and reviews displays for a living compared his 12 Pro against a 30 thousand dollar display and guess what, the iPhone 12 Pro compared favourably and was also very accurate.

I’ll take a professional using calibration equipment over someone eyeballing based on what colour temperature they think the screen should be.

That’s cool that this single 12 has a decent calibration. Glad he got a good one. Too bad many in this thread did not.

Yeah cause the chances of him randomly just getting a perfect one are so high? Or you know the vast majority are accurate, you just don’t like what accurate looks like, accurate screens tend to be more yellow than blue, you just prefer displays that are cooler rather than warmer.
