I found a way to get rid of a lot of the yellow tint. I suspect this is something along the lines that Apple will do if they address this issue. Go to settings, accessibility, color filters, click on color tint. Turn the hue down to halfway. I don’t know why it is at max. Notice the white letters on that page actually turn white. Now display a white page in Safari. You will instantly notice how much more white the white is. When I put it next to my nephews 12 pro I can see the difference. You can also turn down the intensity all the way. I have mine at around 20%. Hope this helps.

My iPhone 12 Pro Max is not that yellow-ish for me, but kinda blue/green and really make my eyes uncomfortable.

The camera I am using is pretty crappy and cannot represent the color accurately, so don't judge the exact color through this image.

I've compared it with MacBook Pro Display and iPhone 6s display, MacBook Pro's display is the most accurate white from my view angle, iPhone 6s is kind of yellow, but Okay. (I have compared it with my old XR, XR's color is nearly the same as 6s, But I have sent out the trade in package, so unable to show it in the image now.)

Seems that Apple just change their standard towards color accuracy. And my Pro Max is experiencing the same black screen flicking, pretty noticeable at late night.

Apple did not change its standard. It's as it's always been - if its yellow, purple, pink, blue, or accurate, then SHIP IT BRO!! SHIP IT!!!!

The customers are apathetic losers who will never hold Apple accountable, so ship that shiz my man!! -Tim Cook

Hold them accountable. Demand perfection. They are charging perfection-level prices. Demand perfection-grade screens.

I think you’re getting a little extreme and a little out of control in your behavior. I would 100% buy a note 20 ultra if I felt as strongly as you do. No question

I think it’s happening to me, 12 pro max on left and XS max on the right

Should I go to apple and get it exchange?

Here are all of mine; iPhone 12 Pro Max on the left, iPhone 12 Pro middle, iPhone 12 Mini on the right. All of them are pretty much identical, the Max is maybe a hair warmer than the other two. The Max is slightly uneven I discovered last night, top half of the screen is warmer than the bottom and there's slight green glow on dark backgrounds. The regular 12 Pro and 12 Mini have no issues.

The 12 Pro Max will be going back. It's too big and the screen isn't as uniform as I'd like for $1100. The 12 Mini has won me over, likely keeping it for my work phone and using the 12 Pro as my daily.

its naive to think corporations aren’t out to maximize profits. Its not personal, just business.

so if people don’t hold them accountable, why wouldn’t they allow phones out of spec to ship?

that’s been the point of it all for me since day 1 - the sheer insult to the intelligence of the consumer.

I promise that if people understood this issue and held apple accountable, they’d stop the practice. And it wouldn’t be that apple is giving in or something, apple is just going to do whatever it takes to maximize margin while maintaining customer satisfaction. If customers decide they are unsatisfied with current screen qc, apple will change it, plain and simple. There’s no emotion involved, it’s just about optimizing the business.

So join me in demanding good screens for all

This comments on the yellowness.

Despite a largely positive review, main display cons listed
  • A yellow cast impacts the color perception in every activity.
  • The device luminance is generally low, especially in dark conditions.
  • The blue light filter has a significant impact on brightness and color.
  • Flicker is noticeable in low-light conditions.
That review also says the 12 Pro display is less yellow than the 11 Pro display, and that it’s the third best display they’ve tested, only behind the Note 20 Ultra and OnePlus 8 Pro, and tied with the S20 Ultra. But I would take everything said in that review with a grain of salt... DXO is known for camera reviews, not display reviews.

Funny thing is I’m recruited regularly by apple. In the industry. So yeah, I know what I’m talking about.

Look this isn’t some conspiracy. Apple is going to do what it takes to maximize profits. Its up to us to demand more.

Troll, nice, you still didn't answer my question, where has it got you over the years with your crusade?

For this specific issue increased awareness but so far no movement to demand more from apple. But I’d say at least 1,000 people over the years have swapped for better phones.

I’m finding this thread perplexing (to put it kindly). The OP wants me to test my new phone’s display using settings I’d never use in real life?

And a photo of a neutral screen is discounted because there’s no other phone display beside it but photos of multiple displays are accepted at face value?

I prefer my own eyes and my own user experience. My 12 Pro Max display is gorgeous, with lovely neutral greys.
If your iPhone is the only screen you're looking at, then congratulations, you don't have a problem and you don't need to be here.

The issue that we have is when the iPhone is used alongside other devices. It's not just a comparison of 2 iPhones side by side, it's also against other devices such as a PC, a Mac, an iPad, etc.

No offense, but your single photo means nothing. Lighting conditions and the camera that took the photo, as well as the device I'm viewing your photo on, don't help draw an accurate picture of what we're looking at. You need to benchmark it against something, otherwise it's meaningless.
