hello,

I was wondering, does your XR screen seems yellowish in particular at the bottom ?
I don’t know anymore if it’s my eyes or the screen.

I thought I was the only one! Yes my XR is yellowish towards the bottom which is more apparent on white and light grey screens. I find it most noticeable when scrolling the settings app.

Is this something we should be concerned about? I’m still within my 14 day returns period with Apple and unfortunately this is my second XR (the first one had a scratched corner on the aluminium straight out of the box)

I am on my 5th XR (first 3 hard dead/stuck pixels, 4th had the yellowing on the bottom really bad) and I can say all have had this some varying degree. The one I have now has it the least but its still noticeable on apps with all white backgrounds. I am also still on the fence on what to do. I am pretty tired of the display lottery I play every year when buying a iPhone.

I was afraid with Oled, that pristine whites would be a thing of the past.

My Xs not only has crisp white, but also inky blacks.

Best iPhone display I've ever had.

All screens have a yellow, red, blue, or green tint to them. Not saying you shouldn't care but that's just the nature of the technology. You might have one that's more pronounced.

Oh god now I’m worried as I’m planning to exchange my phone tomorrow. As I’m typing this on my XR I can see how much warmer the screen is at the bottom as it looks really apparent on the keyboard. I’m planning on checking the new phone in store while I’m there and if that’s got the problem as well I might swap it out again on the spot.

Definitely a lottery :(

I have this problem in fact every screen I’ve had with apple has had this to varying degrees.

I bought an iPad Pro that had it really bad I exchanged it and it was much better. My iPad Air 2 in night shift has it though I had never noticed until I was looking for it.

My iPhone XR has it but it’s not too bad so I just ignore it and now I don’t notice it. Same with the air 2 actually.

Any updates on this issue? I have it as well. Not really noticeable unless you look for it, but it’s there. Just a yellowish shadow near the bottom. Thinking about a swap, but that might not be good for my OCD tendencies. And if most of the screens have it, maybe it’s better to stay with the devil I know, as the replacement could be worse. Any input is appreciated.

I did one more exchange and had it even worse than the one I gave back. Ended up just returning for full refund. Looking at getting an 8 or keeping my current phone until I can save for the XS. Shame because I've never seen a phone with a battery as great as the XR.

Thanks for the update. It's helpful in deciding how to move forward. I'm going to ty and keep mine because, like i mentioned, it's not too bad. I've had my XR for a while and didn't notice this issue until I started reading forums and scrutinizing the screen. Screen uniformity issues aside, I think the XR is fantastic. With regard to your thinking about an 8, my wife has one and the screen is great. Very uniform in brightness and color. It's also a very fast phone. That said, I've gotten used to the XR's large screen and Face ID, and would have a hard time giving those up.

Have people gotten lucky since OP posted this thread?

still bothered my replacement device exhibits it more than my first one did,

but my first one got a weird vertical line seen on certain colors along edge, and a hot white dot in the center of the screen.. the replacement had light leak through the side rubber gasket.

and now im here

Good luck with that, everytime this happened to me and i go to the store to check....everything is absolutely perfect. Gonna make you more upset. I don't know if they're purposely selecting "perfect" screen units to show for demos but I'm beginning to think they do.

It would be great if Apple were exposed on this if it were true...

Someone in the factory staring at 100 screens in a dark room to pick the 20 that will be the floor models at each store haha

A good part of the XR i've seen on my apple store had problems

My Xr is very uniform, best of all iphone lcds I ever had. And it is also warm, which I like. I compared to a bunch of other Xrs in the store, others had noticably cooler tint

FYI, the demo models you see in store, those displays are at ‘max brightness’, and then factor in the overhead lighting in the store itself is Far you bright, that’s why they appear to be a little bit cooler with the overall display calibration, I find most displays never seem to really resemble a ‘demo model’ in store.

Mine is like yours but I think the screen isn’t produced right. I think this because my brothers phone is brighter and cooler while mine is like yours, by no means is it a bad display it just gets on my nerves. I’m going to get it checked just in case
