Yep, another 17" MBP thread (But this one is different!)

FYI, you can still get the "better" video card with the i5 on the 17"

From what I've read, the CS5 and video rendering runs well without going i7 unless you've got tons of layers going, etc., in which case you'd only save a little time. But if that's worth it to you then by all means go for it.

I have a really great backpack from the north face that fits the 17". I cannot link to it as thenorthface.com doesn't let me display the us store ( I am from Europe)

I don't think there aren't enough backpacks and sleeves. Strange that an Apple Store doesn't carry them.

yup the other day I had my 17" in a wheelbarrow (the crane is in the shop) and they wouldnt let me into the schools library because It was making everyone else uncomfortable w/ its heavy breathing

op, you can find a bag/cases everything easily just might have to go online. the Apple store just doesn't carry those items (i asked several).

LOL! I almost fell off the sofa reading this! Wheelbarrow....thats great!!

Was it the new Targus Wheelbarrow Series? I hear they rock!

Anyone have any experience or thoughts on the Booq stuff? I like the looks of some of their backpacks. (hate messenger bags.) Particularly these:

http://bit.ly/dCDz0a Like the ability to put my camera in bottom if I need it that day.

http://bit.ly/corvFa I really like the layout of this one.

Thoughts?

As an avid photographer, I loved the look of the first backpack. I actually just finished ordering myself one :) I will let you know what I think of it when it arrives.

Please do. I have a Nikon D200 that I always keep a 50 1.2 on. It looks like it would fit perfect in that little "cubby."

As for a sleeve... I have seen the incase ones that they carry at every apple store, but the booq one seems to be slightly more sturdy. Is this the case? I have never dropped a laptop, or any other gadget really, but when you are going to spend 3300 for the computer, the upgrades and the software as a student, I don't think I can be TOO careful!

Go 4 the 17", I was thinking of getting the 15" but knew when USB 3 became available 4 Mac that I would be very very sad. With the 17" its alot more futureproof because of the inclusion of the expresscard slot. The day USB 3 drivers are released 4 Mac I'll purchase an expresscard USB 3 adapter, those who own 15" will just have to grin and bare it. Not to mention the value of their machines will plummet. Go big or go home :)

Lol... Here is a pic of my 17" in it's "wheelbarrow". This is a Incase strapped bag with pockets. It is not that big at all and in this case is rather light on the shoulder. This bag is available in-store at most BestBuy's for about $60.
