What and people you meet in person never amaze you?
No, they amaze me daily. Alabama is mind-boggling.

Yeah 'cause those with titles are bound to be far 'better' people:rolleyes: Anyway I paid good money for that title, it's not like I earned it through a chaste life.
I expected moderators to be more mature, not better.

Most adults I know don't mind a bit of friendly flirtatious banter, some enjoy porn on a regular basis and some even have sex! Oddly few of pre-schoolers I know like any of those things, I guess their just much more mature.
I was referring more to your failed attempt at public humiliation than I was the stereotypical male response to female skin.

That's better

Me too!

But if I was forced I quite like the one that the singer from Incubus has on his forearm.

Just **** and quit messing with the flow of the thread already... No one made a stink about it but you. I'd think people with access to global media would follow the ethics of not flame-baiting.

Anyway, I have two tattoos. One on both arms. I'm planning on getting a third soon (possibly something about piracy, or the LAUGHINGMAN

I dunno. Then the other two tats I'll be adding on to. The one on my right arm is a skull, and the other is an emblem from the Special Duties punk band (yes, real punk, not your crappy emo trendy ^%&$) Which is a shield with three swords in the middle of it.

I may also be looking into getting my family crest somewhere. Maybe my ankle. DAH! IST GUT! Us wacky german people...

I don't get it you're amazed daily by the people you meet and expect better from people you communicate with online?

What's not mature about appreciating the female form?

I made no attempt to humiliate iBlue, flatter and flirt with maybe but not humiliate.

In an attempted to move back onto topic... ;)

Here is a picture (taken last summer) of my tattoo. I got it in July. No serious plans on any additional ones, but that could change.

It's a Celtic Triskele. This is a better picture of the design:

i have three tattoos, planning the fourth out as of right now.

i have a ying yang on my inner left wrist, and a nine-pointed star on my inner right wrist and a 5" x5" black sun on the center of my back that i drew.

i'll post pictures when i can find them, although they may just be floating around in the picture directory here anyways too....

the next one is going to be the Buddhist mantra "Om mani padme hum" which has various meanings but the frequent translation is basically "Hail the jewel in the lotus" but thats just one take on it the wiki article explains the other aspects of it much better than i could though.

My wife has been thinking about either a Celtic knot or band... though I think she is a little spooked about it being painful (mine took more than two hours and is actually raised).

And just about as expensive! There is a reason why I've only had one done in the last 10 years.

well thats up to debate though.... i know of some artists who are exceptional, and they charge a flat hourly rate of $120 or so. which depending on the complexity of the tattoo isn't too bad at all.

it all depends on size, complexitiy and the amount of time it takes to create the tattoo

Tell her that I didn't think it was bad at all (you know, that whole woman to woman bit). I brought my sister with me and she talked to me the entire time. So it didn't hurt at all really. A little irritating hearing the buzzing, but my sister's talking helped me ignore it.

They are addicting though. He he.

A friend of mine is getting a tattoo which will include a quote she really likes... I spent a few weeks researching how to convert it into Elvish (first translating it into proper Quenya and then writing that in Tengwar). She wanted the quote to be a secret (that only she and I know) and at the same time she wanted it to be esthetically pleasing (which it was in the end).

Sort of the way I was thinking for a new tattoo idea I have (still want to do one based on my avatar). After spending a long weekend in Reykjavik, Iceland I feel for the Viking based charm images, and the Runes alphabet (used to spell words, but each has a meaning by itself).

Attached are images of the charm that gave me the idea and a couple of shots of people with a modern B&W take on the basic idea (though they did not include the dragon head, which is important as the power of the charm. And the woman has the design upside down).

As of now my plans are for this piece to go on my right bicep. Though I like the boldness of back pieces. I also like the boldness of B&W tats, but in looking at the picture of the charm, I can see how a black & grey tat might be more distinctive. The charm means "safe travels/journeys. The idea of the Runes alphabet would be to be either an armband if I do this piece on my bicep, or if done as a back piece -under the prow of the ship.

Yeah, the thing about back pieces is that you would want to have them going from wider on top to narrower on the bottom. I would think that that art work would look much better on an arm (like that one image you attached).

I'm sure the woman (pictured) liked the look and feel of the design. The way she has it does accent the body's natural shape... though it killed the original meaning of the design.

We're currently stuck at the design phase. I'm getting the idea that coming up with something unique and meaningful to her that she can live with is the current stumbling block.

I'll remember this thread when we get to that next hurdle. ;)

Nice tat there. Though in this picture it looks like a henna tattoo.

I have to say that I like tats that standout. On the forearms, full arm tats, and even some that are above the collar line. But for myself, working in retail, I need (or want) to take (or maybe more properly, my own fear on how others would take more visible tats in the workplace) a more conservative approach in any ink that I get. I just don't want to be forced

My first tattoo was on my left thigh about 14 years ago. A lion in a relaxed pose, with the zodiac symbol for Leo. It was placed so that shorts and family friendly swim trunks cover it. Then 5 years ago I got a tribal "swirl" design done on my right pec. I am hoping that I might get that recreated for my left pec.

As others have said, body modification can be addictive. The long lapses for me were due to outside influences and "obligations". Tats can be expensive in in an area like the DC area, where I live. My two tattoos were done outside of the DC area because they were affordable, and I liked the work of the artist.

Now that I am only responsible for myself, I find that I have the money to get some more. It is just finding the time and the right art now. Time because I am finding that travel is my new drug. The right art, because tats in my mind are permeant. I could never see myself ever going under the laser to remove a tattoo.

Said so well. But then you have us chubby sorts that it might not make much of a difference. :D LOL!

Then you have the aspect of the superstition of charms s tattoos in general. In researching my desires I came across a website of a tattoo artist that refused to do certain Viking "charms" as tattoos - for they had such dual meanings, that they could bring bad luck on the wearer.

If I was not so set on the "charm" aspect of the dragon head ship having meaning for "safe travel/voyage" and more into the basic design of the Viking ships as the two samples I posted - I would so love the woman's tat as as my back piece.

I am looking at this dragon head ship design as a symbol for my new found lust for travel. Depending on where I place this art, one of the other ideas I had was to incorporate the flags of the nations/states/cities I have visited.

This is problematic only for the detail that many flags have, and just how much of my skin am I willing to give up to realize the "dream". See my other post about wanting/needing to be cautious in my tats. Otherwise I could see the underside of my arms being used for these flags.

I guess I could always use the airport codes for the cities I visit; but then I think I would feel like I was just a piece of luggage. :D LOL! Though with the discussion of the overuse of some characters in tattoos; this would be a balance in that.

I will say that the desire for bodyart for myself is driven by my new found freedom in the past year. I want it to mean something to me after 13+ years of repression and sacrifice.

As much as I love the sun, pools, and beaches - I am at the cusp in timing to do a new tattoo.

Hoping that since iGary and I are to get together early next week, I hope that the weather co-operates in order to post some images of what I have in tats right now, in order to get some advise as to what might and might not work in general design.

If that is the case, you and I might need to work on my avatar tattoo. For I am planning on bing in Chicago for the Bear Fest during the Memorial Day weekend.
