well thats up to debate though.... i know of some artists who are exceptional, and they charge a flat hourly rate of $120 or so. which depending on the complexity of the tattoo isn't too bad at all.

it all depends on size, complexitiy and the amount of time it takes to create the tattoo
Prices are funny when it comes to tattoos. I went to four different studios in Jacksonville before I found the place I liked the best (8th Day Tattoo) and they actually gave me the same ballpark price (fyi: one studio said $150, two said $200, and one said $250). I think it was a good price, especially for how well he did the tattoo. Tim is a quiet guy when you're getting a tattoo, but once you get him talking he's hillarious. Much respect for the dude, hence the reason I'm not going to move on with the tattoo I showed him yesterday since he said it wouldn't work no matter what. Right now I'm researching some bats. I have an infatution with bats and I just visited the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens today, which is filled with bats, and I'm going to work on drafting something to go on the back of my right arm where I wanted the other. Unfortunately I probably won't be getting another until June or so, because Graham (the owner) is booked until June and Tim is booked for at least another month. Good shops get good business; no doubt about that.

Just **** and quit messing with the flow of the thread already... No one made a stink about it but you. I'd think people with access to global media would follow the ethics of not flame-baiting.
Yes, because I'm clearly the one to be reprimanded for trolling this thread.

Whatever.

I don't get it you're amazed daily by the people you meet and expect better from people you communicate with online?
I expect the computer literate demographics to have a bit more maturity and tact than the toothless rednecks who play checkers daily at the local park. If any of you had made those comments within earshot of them, they would've hopped in the truck and run you down.

What's not mature about appreciating the female form?
There's a difference between appreciation and objectification. Reading my, "Seriously, guys. She's not a piece of meat." comment might have shed some light on that perspective.

I made no attempt to humiliate iBlue, flatter and flirt with maybe but not humiliate.
Allow me to clarify, since you're struggling with this.

I was referring to your attempt to publically humiliate me (in this message) rather than the stereotypical male response to female skin.

If your goal was not to humiliate, then it was at least to make me look like a fool for taking offense to the "hubba hubba *drool*" response to a picture of a girl in a backless shirt.

I imagine it's only a matter of time before some "demi-god" on a power trip comes through here and purges all dissenting opinions, anyway. I'm not sure why I bother stating personal opinions around here anymore.

As OutThere pointed out above, a Demi-God is not a moderator. We do not have any powers to purge any more than you do. The title simply means that we have contributed some cash to the running of the site.

The only ones who can delete posts are the Moderators and Gods. There is a list of them here.

I don't know... a picture like that seems like it would really stand as a warning to make sure you REALLY want that tattoo removed before getting that done!!!

Was the original tattoo so bad that it was really worth doing that to your body? Cause it sure looks like the solution is much worse than the original problem (going from the image you posted).

:) The tattoo looked pretty cheezy and I didn't really want it any more so just decided to remove it. The blistering was nothing long term... I think the photo that I originally posted was taken just after the third laser session. After the first session it's the worst because the dark color in the tattoo reacts more to the heat from the laser and causes skin burns & blisters... The worst is how itchy it is, and you just can't touch it !!!

Here is the "Before" picture of that previous photo... You can see the lighter color dots in it where each laser beam hit it.
Before3rd.jpg

And here is one before the 6th treatment (after it healed)
Before6th.jpg

I doubt it'll ever go completely, but at least it not dark black anymore so I can wear light color shirts in summer without it showing through... Each treatment costs about £150 too and i'm up to my 8th, the original tattoo only cost £30 total.

Oh, well... only got myself to blame

Bleh...this is why I haven't rushed out to get a tattoo...no regrets. This must've been a pretty tough choice, considering the cost in money and blood.

That's for the clarification.

...indeed. Got any tattoos Chris? Or any comments on the tattoos we've seen so far? Here's one on my significant other's shoulder. Definitely stylized, but meaningful to us both and I think it looks really cute on her, even if it does look like it came from the bottom of a cereal box!

Not yet. I've been toying with the idea of a tattoo to memorialize my father, grandfather, and half brother, but I haven't managed to create a design/location that I've been 100% happy with nor have I managed to find an artist that I trust 100% to do a good job.

Tattoos and other body modification should be looked upon as permeant. Forget the idea that lasers might be able to wipe away the results. That is why I have been cautious on what and where I place a tattoo. At my job I think I could show up with a full body Japanese style tattoo, and other than a few gasps :)D ), not much else would be said or done. I do think that long term prospects for serious advancement might be doused.

For myself I force my self to look beyond where I am at at this point in time. Being in sales and retail, and over 40  , perceptions are everything in the hiring process.

Also in the sales environment, we are some times required to were short sleeved shirts during "special events". A full arm tattoo might not go over well with a well heeled crowd like we have in most of Fairfax County, Virginia.

The younger people here might say , "F*** THEM"; but when you have a lifestyle that you want to keep up with - it is harder to say goodbye to a decent job.

I havent had the nerve to get one yet, but I know exactly what I want. And yes, they are pretty cheesy:

1. Superman logo on my right bicep

2. Barcode on the left bicep

3. "Under, behind and inside everything you took for granted, something horrible has been growing." Across my shoulders/back (two lines)

No chance I'll regret getting those, huh?

Cant help it, thats what I want. Oh, yeah. And some sort of ambigram. Not sure what it should say, though...

that would have been a good first post for you to start out with in this thread.

that being said.. back on topic. i've always wanted to a get a small tattoo, nothing major but i like the idea. i don't want to get anything flashy and large, because i'm definitely not gonna want it later in life (probably won't even want a small one later, but whatever).

either a message in elvish (btw, i forget who was posting about that before.. it's such a great idea. i thought i was the only one who had thought of it yet :X ) or perhaps sanskrit, or maybe a kanji despite their overwhelming popularity these days.

i think i've got a few years to go before i decide to actually do it though.

it's almost shameful to post a picture, i'm always thinking "why did i do that?" when i see it. but like i said, just another mark of thing i've done to my body in the past.

but ok, here's a picture. this is before i got a road-rash scar 6 inches below it [and to the right] from a dirtbike crash. it means virtue.

this comment is a little late but i just ran across this thread and i read all everything everyone has said. . . but a little late and all in fun/playful meaning i say this:

dirtbikes. . . tattoos. . . MAC FORUMS! where does a guy find a girl like you! can i have your number?!

ok, now back to the actual topic of the thread.

tattoos are great. . . and addicting. i have 2 (ill hopefully take a pic and post) and i love them both! one is a turtle and one is a design of sorts. anyway, the biggest thing i can say is KNOW what you want! ive had several friends get tatts and i always tell them to decide on a design then think about it for a month or more and if you still want it, then get it. ive had a couple of friends change their minds in that amount of time. and i have even changed my mind on a couple ideas that i want. cause i do want another/more tatts, i just dont have any money for it right now. just spent all my (extra) money on a mac mini O:)

The best thing i can say about tattoos is:

The bitterness of poor quality, remains long after the sweetness of a good deal.

With that in mind.....go nuts! :D

This is where I'm at with quite a bit to go yet. That "Taz" on the upper left (your left) hand shoulder is being covered. I'm tatted on chest, arms, leg as well.
