Apple is not going to wait 3-4 months. Apple is getting slaughtered at the moment by the Samsung Galaxy S3. I won't be surprised if the new iPhone comes in August already.
So when those Q3 numbers post the GS3 is going to be the best selling phone on all carriers with a sales share of roughly 50% per carrier.
If not, your definition of "killed" might need work.
Apple will do what apple will do. They are not going to release a phone before they want to. 3-4 months is just my rough estimate. Probably more like late September to mid October.
Wasn't Apple in the news recently about disappointing performance numbers? Tim Cook blames the ongoing speculation about the iPhone 5. But it's obvious the Samsung Galaxy S3 is responsible.
Btw, Samsung is the leader in the smartphone market now since this year.
I'd be very surprised if the iPhone 5 shows up in 3-4 months and not sooner.
Well i switched to the 4s this month (despite knowing that there will be a 5 in a couple of months). Coming from blackberry, this wasn't a wrong move for me personally. I bought mine at full price (no contract) so I can still get the 5 but I'm gonna wait for the 5s/6 or whatever the iphone will be called after the next release. My suggestion for you though would be to wait til the next iPhone comes out. You come from a droid which is kind of like the iphone with a lot of apps and some great specs there so trust me you're gonna want to wait. That is at least compared to blackberry which does the basic things like communication but nowhere near the features of the current smartphones from the apps to the screen size and the hardware etc.

The problem is, it was expected that 29 million iPhone's would be sold. Apple missed the target.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 has hit 10 million sales in less than 2 months. Apple is going to wait 3-4 months you think?
And the USA market is not representative of the entire market.
The 4S is still a power house. Hardware wise you will not notice anything different from the 4S to the 5....the camera is great....both will have ios6.....the real question is the phone size. If 3.5 works for you and you want a new phone now, I think you will be happy
At this point why would anyone not wait? Really? I NEED a new phone, cracked glass, docking port acts funky when trying to charge, etc. No way am I buying a new phone now. I'll deal with it. If my current phone stops working completely, I'll buy a pay as U go one until the 5 is released. Seems silly with a replacement just weeks away.
OP if you can afford it get 4S and dont look back. I cant really see how they can improve it. Better camera? 4S already has good camera and frankly speaking nobody will hire you as wedding photographer anyways. Bigger screen? SO what? If we really cared about bigger screens we would use Androids.
The only reason I would get a 4s now is if I had NO phone, as in, my phone was destroyed and I need a new one NOW, and then, I still wouldn't buy a 4s, I'd stay patient for a couple more months and see what's inevitability going to be released by Apple.
Maybe even find a way to get a ****ty flip phone to hold me off until fall, lol.

With my iPhone 4 recently being stolen I had no reservations in buying the 4s because currently it ticks all my wants and needs boxes.
As for the new iPhone , who knows !

yeah, if you're even considering getting the 5 you should wait. There are some great 4S deals at the moment, but only because they wanna get rid of the stock.
