I pre-ordered and got the iPhone 13 Pro the first day it was available. Did a full backup and restored it via my MacBook Pro and experiencing a short battery life problem like folks on this forum. So I wiped it out and started fresh. Today is day 4. Here's my battery usage today:

iPhone 13 Pro 512 GB Black, T-Mobile physical sim card, 5G Auto, Connected to 5G Wifi the entire day, Auto-brightness on, Background Refresh off, Bluetooth on, linked with the series 4 of Apple Watch.

Charged my phone while sleeping and started my day at 8 AM today. I don't have any battery-draining apps or games, see the battery page for details:

Updated Oct 07:
Here's less confusing data from the past 12 hours. Took it off the charger at 9 am and now it's midnight and left with 9% battery left. Less than 5 hours screen today, this is unbelievable. My iPhone 11 Pro with 85% battery life can do better than this.

Do others face similar battery usage? This is not impressive, especially when holding the phone, it feels heavier and thicker and gives an impression that the battery is bigger, so it should last longer...

My concern is, if this iPhone can barely last a day with intermediate usage, it may not even last half-day a year down the road with heavy use...

Initially, I did phone to phone migration with cable. However, I felt it had downloaded many apps I no longer used so I restored the device to set up as new to avoid any issue. So far, battery is pretty good. I do have background on but you might have to tap on show activity to see which app stays in background. On iOS 15.1 B2.96A918DC-933B-437A-9552-E8425C0195FB.png

Now it's 1:10 AM the next day, and there is only 13% battery left. As I recall, when I first got my iPhone 11 Pro, it could last a day and a half for the same usage. Do others face similar battery usage? I'd recommend doing a backup full restore again...looks like some apps are using up battery in the background. Check your photos to make sure it isn't pulling iCloud photos, etc. You also on iOS 15.0.1? I have the 13 Pro myself and get great battery life so far, and I'm sure will get better once iOS 15 matures.

im having the same issue OP. i think there is something going on with the 15.0.1 update. do you happen to use an apple watch @tonypg ? since pairing my watch i noticed a quicker depletion in battery life. this is at 23% remaining

I don't have iCloud Photo enabled. Not even Photo Stream. yes, I am on 15.0.1. Can you post your battery life and config?

Yes, I do. I have a series 4 apple watch and gonna buy the series 7 this Friday.
The battery usage doesn't tell how much power the connection between the phone and watch consumes. So I can't be completely sure it's the watch.

How quicker are you talking about here?

I have this issue. iPhone 13 Pro, battery life was fantastic initially and then I updated to 15.0.1 to get mask unlock back. Battery life has gone through the floor, it’s worse than the phone I traded in. Over 3h30 with 30 mins screen use and almost zero background use it drops from 80 to 50%. It drops 85% over 9h with minimal usage and is almost dead before I leave work. 2h 19 screen on, 12 min screen off today and battery goes 100 to 14%.

I’ve turned off background for anything using more than a few mins per 24h and switched to dark mode. Charging by anything other than fast charge or MagSafe is excruciating, even slower than normal. Apple support said it’s normal but to speak to a senior tech. I’ve provided feedback and will downgrade to iOS 15.0 if possible.

Thanks for the data point here. It sounds like the battery draining was more apple watch related than the ios version? I am almost tempted to try unpair the watch to see if it will help. My battery issue started in ios 15.

I will probably try this as well. It’s possibly related and initially it was like the watch wasn’t paired properly as notifications didn’t come through but this was before I updated. Hopefully a future update will fix all this. There’s a handful of posts out there on similar themes but no solutions that I’ve found to work. I generally have very few issues with Apple software updates so maybe just unlucky this time because it’s felt a bit “beta” to me this week!

Please keep me posted. I will ask around to collect some data points on this.

the fact that my phone seems to drain even in standby mode makes me feel it could be the watch itself. its not a huge drop in drain but sufficient enough that i could notice from day to day usage. i may unpair my phone and see if it helps with battery life, but i'm going to wait for 15.1 to drop, make the assessment, and if its still draining, i will unpair the watch. if i'm still getting poor battery life i'm going to have to restore the phone as new and try again.

I don't know what is R15 SIM card? There are different types?
Oh it’s just a newer T-Mobile sim type that supports 5G. It will say R15 on the actual sim card under the #s.
I don’t see any issues with cell signal on your battery stat screenshot though.

Yeah that doesn’t apply to me. I had my SIM card since 2017 and have not yet changed it.

no I don't have signal issue.

If your card is that old, give a new one a try.

In the past when I’ve had battery issues I’ve done a settings reset and that’s always fixed it, could be worth a try.

My 13 Pro is getting really good battery life. I was getting over heating while browsing this forum until I installed ad blockers that helped resolve the battery drain.

I restored from back up but reset all settings. Luckily I had my 12 pro still to set it back exactly how I wanted it.

Same here. My 13 Pro battery is doing worse than my previous 12 PM so far and I wonder if it was a mistake to downgrade to a smaller phone. My battery drained 10% overnight and by the time I got to work, it’s already hovering at 80% (74% right now as I type this). What gives?
