Got my Yoobao "Apple Clone" case in this past week...and am enjoying it quite a bit. Yeah, the pleather isn't super, but its as said, WAY better than the Apple case. The smell went away after a night out in the open. The border that goes around the screen is smaller compared to the Apple branded version, so in my book thats also a huge plus. Awesome case  Maybe will get a real leather version in the future.

Any chance someone who has this case in-hand could post some images of it? Haven't been able to find anything except the Yoobao promo shots being used on eBay ...

Many thanks!
Matt

I ordered this up today in brown; when I get it next week I will post pics and short impressions.

My brown ipad clone Yoobao case came yesterday along with my 16 GB wifi refurb.

With my wife having the real Apple iPad case since launch day last year, I can say confidently that this is a quality clone of the real deal. Like others have said, it doesn't appear to be real leather, but it feels nicer than the black iPad case and I'm sure it will clean up nicer too.

It has all the same "reinforcement inserts" as the apple case; being in the cover, around the front edge of the screen and in the flap that tucks under the back left side of the iPad. There is black micro fiber on the inside and it fits tightly like the real one.

The edges to not seem as initially sharp as the real ipad case was, though the real case eventually wore in.

The ebay deal I ordered it from also came with a Yoobao screen protector. I installed that too and it is a very nice one. Clear and quality, thick plastic film. No problem with touch responses so far. The case extends over the edge of the screen protector.

$33.00 shipped from CA to MA. I hope this is the only case I'll need.

Pics soon, at work now.

Looking forward to pics. Link to where you purchased from?

To me the Scoche folio is just a bit better:

http://www.scosche.com/consumer-tech/product/2118

Why cover the entire front of the iPad when you don't need to. The Scoche provided corner protection, back and front (when closed). It also has the multiple angle thing going on. You can get a knock off at HandHeldItems for $20.

Seems just a little more minimalistic, like an Apple product. All that being said I had the Scoche for my iPad 1, and I will be getting the Smart Cover + a skin for the iPad 2.

Here we go:

New Yoobao at Amazon.com

There will be a Yoobao case for the ipad 2 available on March 25 at Amazon.com. Being sold by A Young Life. Looks similar to the latest release with ipad 2 adaptations for camera and speakers.

Haven't got around to pics yet but here's an update. It fits and will work but access to the home button and volume buttons is extremely limited due to their location.

I really prefer a case that does not cover the front bezel but not seeing anything designed for the iPad 2 that has that design yet.

I have had the Yoobao first generation case for almost a year now, subjected it to daily, heavy use.(You can probably find my post in the first few pages of this thread, started many months ago.) It's been with me on 3 vacations overseas, train rides locally, coffee shops....too many to count, and it has worn fantastically. I will definitely wait for the one you mention above. I've also ordered the Zagg Keyboard for when I am away from my Desktop for extended periods. The Yoobao I will have for daily use.

After playing with the brown magic Yoobao case for couple days, i just want to share my thought about it. Not the positive one though, here is couple points i don't like about it:

- It looked cheap to me, specially the brown one. In stead of leather clip like the V1, the magic V2 use cheap plastic on the 6 clip to hold the ipad. It look much lighter than the leather color, i will upload some detail pics tmr. And the clip is hard plastic, it contact directly with the ipad, without any padded inside. For long time of use, no one can warranty it not scratch the ipad ( especially that u have to often take the ipad out/in those clip)

- There was no smell in my case ( like couple peoples reported before), look like real leather to me. The font cover is thicker than the back cover. The back feel lke just plastic broad, and the leather on top of it. Actually not much protection on the back cover. It would be better if have a little bit padding, help in protection, and also more comfortable when holding.

- The big advantage of this magic case is 3 variety of angle. I found out only the middle one is the more secure, while the other 2 are not really useless. It can hold the ipad, but i don't trust it. Just a bit of force, the ipad can slip out easily.

- It's not cheap. As i know, it cost around 45$ to buy in Us, 35-50$ from HK ebay. I brought it 50$ for local pickup in AU. Even it real leather, i don't think it worth 50$ to buy.

I found couple of nice replacement, function quite the same of magic case. But seem better quality

1/ C.E.O. Hybrid iPad Case
2/ Mophi workbook
3/ Zoogue

The first one function and look exactly the magic, but have more adv feature. The back cover can completely fold back, and have a strap to hold it. There is a big strap for ur hand, so u don't really need to hold the ipad while reading. I'm thinking buy it, my only concern is that it make from faux leather. Love the dark brown of that case, rather than the bright red brown of the magic.

This is my personal though, just want to share to everyone. So everyone can have more information before decide to buy the magic.

I've had my incase book jacket case for almost a year now and kind of hate how bulky it is. The Yoobao cases look kind of good.

I can't decide between the YOOBAO Slim Magic v4 or the YOOBAO Apple Style case. I know it's based on preference, but which one would people recommend over the other?

@Phisherman81: Thanks I just went for the Amazon link you posted, it looks the same as the Yoobao but $15 cheaper than what's on ebay.

If anyone is interested in this brown case still, it appears to be much cheaper on amazon (prime eligible too). This is the same case I bought, but it has a different company's stamp in the corner:

Thanks for the link. Bought that case and it worked out great. Everything you said about it is spot on. Best bang for buck for sure. I wouldn't even mind paying more for it now that I've used it first hand.

Well, after another long period with the original Apple case, I've come back to the Yoobao Magic. Since the iPad launched, I've tried:

  • Apple case
    Yoobao Magic
    Apple case again
    Portenzo
    Apple case again
    Yoobao Lively
    Apple case again
    Yoobao Magic again

Why back to the Yoobao? I got sick (again) of how cruddy the Apple case permanently looks. And nothing beats the Magic for protection, flexibility (multiple viewing angles) and looks. A little black shoe polish dealt with the white stitching of the new version which, I can confirm, is made from genuine leather. Sure it's a little bulkier than the Apple case (and the Yoobao Lively clone) but I still think it's the cleverest case design anyone — Apple or third party — has come up with to date.
