In my case seems to be a problem related with authentication. If I set the 5Ghz 802.11ac network on the AC66U to open it connects fine, same thing if I choose WPA personal instead of WPA2 personal. Sadly, it seems the rMBP will only do 80Mhz ac channels on WPA2 so if you choose any other option you are stuck at 486Mbps max.. annoying

I tried this and unfortunately for me it didn't work
Might try a fresh install tonight.
BTW...I noticed that the update affects trim unless you have an Apple blessed hard drive. But I didn't get the apple bless as it was $300 and I paid $65 for the same size.
I am also experiencing major wifi issues (low bandwidth, randomly high latency) on my mid-2012 Retina MacBook Pro with Yosemite and my Asus RT-N66U router. Removing all saved wifi networks as previously suggested in this thread unfortunately did nothing for my issue.
Connecting with the Apple USB Ethernet adapter makes the problem go away, but more importantly disabling WPA encryption on the router resolves the problem. Obviously, this is not a long-term solution, but I think it indicates exactly where the problem lies...

I'm also experiencing low bandwidth issues. I can't believe that Apple would release an OS update with such serious issues.
How About BT & WIFI Coexisting
WIFI works fine until I turn on BT to use Mac Keyboard and Pad. Both BT and WIFI keep going up and down resulting in losing internet and BT connectivities to keyboard and Pad.
I removed the Pad and Keyboard and reconnected them, but same behavior continues.

I am having the wifi issue as well. Works fine on 2.4, but 5.0 is very slow and does not even load web pages. Maybe same guys who wrote iOS8 wifi worked on Yosemite. Common Apple.

I had old Apple Airport Express so i hooked it up to test. No issues on 2.4 or 5.0 on Airport Extreme. Apparently, Apple only tests with own routers.

Strange. I was having this problem with 5ghz in Mavericks. It would work for an hour, then stop working, but still showing connected. I turn off wifi, turn it back on, and all is fine for a while.
On my 2.4ghz SSID, it never dropped.
Seems to me in Yosemite that the problem was fixed. I stayed connected on the 5ghz SSID last night, all night, for the first time since I got my rMBP Mid 2014, fully loaded version a few months ago.

I've had Wifi issues, not as bad as yours though OP. But websites sometimes take ages to load, sometimes they don't load at all. Sometimes content on sites doesn't finish loading completely. It always says I'm connected to the internet but sometimes pages say I'm not, so they don't load.

I was thinking that too. I tried flashing merlin onto my router. meh, nothing. I didn't expect it to work though, since merlin and asus-wrt are really close. Merlin is just bleeding edge, from what I understand. Asus takes his successes and puts in in their firmware.
No tomato firmware is available for my router, but is it available for some of the other asus routers, including the ARM based routers.
Apple tech support noticed something interesting wiht IP address assignments. When I change from one radio to the other, my IP address is the same. Does that happen normally?
I suggest those of us with these problems who can do so, install Shibby Tomato. If the firmware is the problem, this could give us a better result. My unit doesn't have a build available for it though.
Hey, I tried this and still i would loose my wifi. I am on early 2011. Every 40 seconds or so wifi would stop working and i would have to re-join wifi to get it going again, its a pain in the @$$

Office: running a wrt54gc v2 - would connect to the wifi and get cut off every 40 seconds even with and open wifi. Tested a second router wrt56gl tomato1.25 - no loss of connectivity but at snail speed.
Home: running a Huawei router, no wifi issues at all. Bandwidth is fine but instead Bluetooth connectivity range to wireless keyboard and trackpad is only 0.5 meter away from my MBP before signal would be lost and reconnect every 40~60 seconds

I decided to just wipe my drive and install 10.10 fresh. Still having wifi connection issues. Other macs without Yosemite are fine and this one was before the upgrade and still have issues after a fresh install. I went Mac to get away from this stuff.
I am also seeing issues when connected to my 5GHz network from my ASUS RT-AC87U router. The connection stays connected, but websites load slow and Appstore updates seem to stall. Connected to 2.4GHz now, it seems much more stable. This is in a Mid-2012 MBP, just upgraded to 10.10.
I should also mention that I saw no issues at all with my 5GHz network in Mavericks. The ASUS router firmware is 3.0.0.4.376_2769-g1bb5fac.

Latest Asus firmware here. Merlin or ASUS-wrt, no difference. I think the problem exists on both sides. I love this router, but firmware has always been a problem with this model.
As for apple, Yosemite clearly broke something.

There are reports of similar issues using the Netgear R7000 so its not an Asus problem. Using Asus 68U w/Merlin and except for a drop off earlier its been running very well. It could be a WPA2 issue.
I feel like I am going crazy... but I swear, right after installing Yosemite on my nMP, my wifi connection to my Apple TV has degraded beyond anything usable. I am not talking about Airplay from my nMP to my Apple TV, but just straight up native Apple TV apps, like Youtube, Redbull, Netflix, etc... My Apple TV is basically unusable at the moment.
I have even turned off wifi on my nMP and am using wired ethernet straight to my router (Netgear N900), however after installing Yosemite, it was using wifi for a while before I turned it off.
It could be that my local AT&T headend has just reset all their switches, or some CDN network just rebooted, or something else really strange - but I have never ever had issues with streaming from N900 to my Apple TV prior to this (I have 12mbs DSL).
I have reset both the N900 and the Apple TV and everything is still hosed. I really don't see how Yosemite could be causing my issue, but I saw this thread of all the other wifi issues and it just started making me wonder...

Well I am in the same boat and of course I also have the newest ASUS 87 but that is seriously not the issue. I will tell you why in a moment, but to start a little insight on my setup and issue.
I can connect to my 5GHz SSID but do not see ANY 2.4GHz SSID's. Ethernet works just fine. If I connect to 5GHz I have internet for 10-30 seconds. However... I can ping normally from a terminal anywhere over the internet as I would normally. The disconnection and slow internet is only when throughput is necessary. A standard ping is 64 bytes without an issue. Browsing this site over the 5GHz I can refresh some pages and not others. Every other computer I have including macs on mavericks are not an issue.. Its apple and they are not playing nice at the moment.
And 2 vent just a bit.. Its disgusting to see that I get better information here than on their own

A little more work any what I have found it this. I have UPC internet in NL. My factory modem wifi on 5GHz only supports N speeds of about 85Mbit. If I connect Yosemite to that wifi it works normally!!! I tried lowering my Asus AC87U to N-Only and it connects and I can browse a little but still major issues. SO.. Apparently this issue maybe hardware specific. It is still in APPLE issue as every other piece of hardware I have works fine on my ASUS and so did this PC on mavericks! So YES if you have an ASUS AC router that may be contributing to your problem but I suspect other branded AC routers combined with Yosemite is an issue.

I also had the same problem, it must be hardware router problem or some Mhz/channels router settings. Couldnt connect for more than 30s, but i had issues with this same router before too( disconnecting when relocating and didnt get new ip). I plugged back in my tp-link router from my previous place, and its working normally now.
Device that was giving me hard time is: Iskratel Sinope 568, its modem and router from my ISP, just fyi.
