What happens if you reserve for same day pickup, pick a timeslot for sameday, will they hold it for several days later?

They say they hold it only for the time slot. But they probably do until the end of the day. Certainly not for several days though.

its still all for convenience even if it is some what limited. No more users wondering what's going on.

This is more of a "lottery draw" first in, first serve...

Its only to reserve, doesn't mean u can't get a message saying "out of stock" right ?

Isn't the screen the Plus size minus the bezels? Basically hoping for it to cross into 6 inch territory?

The display is technically around the size size in sq inches, but its taller and skinnier form factor certainly makes it feel smaller than the Plus’ display. I’m fine with it though.

Do you guys know if I’m in the Verizon payment plan, can I still reserve the phone thought Apple and get it at Apple or do I have to use Verizon. I just have a feeling Apple will get the phone before Dec 13th which is what Verizon is quoting

How unethical that the black 256 gig ATT is available in stores right now (on the other side of the country), and I my order was processed 8 minutes after it went on sale and I still have to wait another 2 weeks. They should just send them to those who have been waiting.

This kind of crap is really pissing me off. I ordered my 256GB Kevin Spacey Grey GSM on October 27 at 12:06am. I was given a 2-3 week delivery time.

My friend on Sprint ordered the same config at 6:00am and got his yesterday.

Now I’m seeing quantities showing up at physical stores broadcasted to the web... I am still waiting for mine. Why the hell should anyone “preorder” a device anymore when you end up getting it after every person.

My watch purchase was equally crappy. I bought a series 3 white ceramic edition online and did an in store pickup. When I arrived they had no clue who I was based on my Apple ID. I was passed around between 3 sales people and then linked up with some activation and setup “specialist”. There were 3 of us all getting assistance from this one person and each had to take turns waiting for the others to get help around the table. Why the hell would someone want to buy a $1400 Watch with service like this from Apple anymore when you could walk to any other luxury brand and spend the same with a 1-on-1 a+ service?

What happened to this companies retail staff? What the hell is wrong with their logicistics that make preorders arrive weeks after people can simply walk into a store and get one? How is this ethical? Screw this. At least buying a crappy Samsung phone or tv means you get the Samsung the day you want it and usually get a 1-on-1 experience. I get better customer service buying a flat screen tv then buying an Apple product anyway.

^you sound like an entitled millennial. Sprints system was down on preorder day and perhaps that's why at 6am, your friend was able to order for pickup launch day since sprints system was practically down fro, 12-3:30.

I’m surprised so many people are spending $150 extra on top of an already very expensive phone for 256 GB of storage. 64 GB actually isn’t bad, especially now that photos and videos take up half the space they did in iOS 10. And iCloud Storage is super cheap if you need extra space for more photos and videos.

Just reserved my IPhone X 64gb silver

Jut reserved my iPhone X 64gb silver 6am UK online reservation and can pick up today! Fantastic! Its bad of Apple to keep orders waiting a 3 week duration when this service is in place though.
Great job! It wasn't hard, right?

Definitely not, but you can’t hang about doing it. The reservations closed after 5 Minutes
I woke up this morning like 8:30am and I checked istocknow.com and it showed its availability. I decided to jump in and cancel my pre-order and ordered to pick up. In US, it looks like they are getting stocks almost everyday....not all stores...but most stores. I think that's what Apple is doing with international as well...hopefully.

I don’t blame you, I’m glad I didn’t pre order I’d be furious. I’m guessing so, the silver wasn’t available at my local store yesterday and now it is. Either way, for those looking to reserve, check everyday!

I feel the same way, but continue to hypnotize myself by telling myself that the first batch launch devices burnt me once with the 6s battery issue. The ones arriving in 2 weeks are better.

iPhone X supplies were depleted within just minutes, and the Reserve and Pickup page now advises customers to check back again at 6:00 a.m. local time tomorrow.

Well, this is quite not accurate... The website actually only says:
Please check back after 06:00, or shop now...
, which implies that is not 06:00 yet (today)... Apple really messed up here in updating the message to include something like "06:00 tomorrow"... or "we are not taking more reservations today", and leaving us instead with a bugged page that makes you feel is dodgy and doesn't work...

This tool doesn’t work using the iPad. At the last step, the “continue” box is not clickable.

Gaahh, this pickup reservation still requires wireless carrier verification. I am trying to reserve a Verizon iPhone X but can't since I'm on AT&T. Basically OP is implying I can use the app to check availability, but its pretty hard to get the model I want because too many people lining 6am at the store still. So this year you can't reserve for pickup without wireless account verification, unlike last year with that IUP link.
Requiring wireless carrier to get a carrier specific phone is an excellent control to ensure only the carrier customers or account holders can purchase the phone and to prevent from selling abuses of their products to other competing carriers. It is an ethical practice. Glad to hear this is happening. This should be done for all carriers to protect their business.

The shipment for preorder and store pick-up/ purchase inventory is different. It is a good business practice to accommodate online preorder and store pick up customers separately. It is an allocation metrology. There is nothing unethical in it.

Tried researching but can’t find an answer to this question:

I have an AT&T preorder using my number. Because of that I can’t attempt a same day pick up order using that same number and I don’t want to risk cancelling and simultaneously not being able to order a same day pick up.

My wife is also in the same AT&T account. Can I use her number to make a separate order but actually use it as mine? Don’t they pre-activate the phone with her number if I order it under her number? Or do I just switch out the SIM card before I turn on the new phone or is there a different work around for that?

Once they activate the new iPhone at Apple your old phone will not be active. I did the same thing on Friday with my line and was thinking I could just go home and set it up later and continue to use my existing phone... well needless to say it was a really quiet afternoon until I realized.

You can then switch out the SIM on the her line and your SIM in the new phone. Just insert the SIM from the iPhone X that was activated SIM into her phone.

You will need to see her phone because Apple will send a text to her phone for verification.

I thought you don’t really need to activate your new phone at the Apple store though. That means if I just grab it and go, I can potentially swap out the SIM card so that my wife’s current phone doesn’t get deactivated. Anyone know for sure if this is doable?

I thought the same but at least when I did it on Friday my line died on my old iPhone and the new one was active. Maybe because I did the NEXT plan... I’m not sure. I asked the same question because I thought the same thing and one person I asked so it would be no problem. I’ve done it in the past but I’m not sure why it didn’t happen this time.

Availability of some models here in Charlotte today. Surprising but that’s good to know that those who haven’t received one yet can get hold of one relatively quickly and don’t have to wait for long preorders.

I woke up early today, logged on at 6am, they had my choice of phone (at&t 256G, space gray,) so I jumped on ordering it. Because I already placed an order on preorder day, it wouldn't let me unless I canceled it. I did that and it took 2 or 3 minutes before it synced up and allowed me to buy it. That was a pretty scary 3 minutes. But there was no issue. I was done by 6:08am for pick up today in Jacksonville from 11 to 11:30am- I've already got the email that it is ready for me. And they were still available until 6:50 or so. Much, much better than the delivery of 17th to the 24th.
