If only there was something like that...

https://www.apple.com/iphone-8/

:p

But seriously... let's wait until Apple's earnings call at the end of January.

Apple's last record holiday quarter was 78 million iPhones. That's the number to beat.

You're already betting that they can't reach that. I guess we'll have to wait and see! :)

Wanna bet they group all "new cycle phones" into one number? "Our most successful launch ever"... if you ignore staggered release, short supply.

Betting next year all models will launch on the same day... we're getting a little tired of the "we need a little more time" line. For a three year dev cycle, something went wrong. At least the delayed HomePod gives us something to look forward to in 2018. Such a pity they couldnt find a few minutes to upgrade the processor in their Mac Mini.

And where's the iMac Pro? MIA? Will it make a retail appearance just in time to meet their promise?

Good job apple. The scalping on the X was insane this year. When I purchased mine, there were about 100 people waiting in line and all seemed to buy 2 phones at once.

Some stores on the west coast (WA and Oregon maybe Cali too) are choosing to only sell phones online for personal pickup to eliminate this, and as a result have had a decent amount of inventory in stock because of it limiting reseller's ability to get ahold of phones.

Just placed on order on T-Mobile for the X 256gb SG over the weekend.. they're quoting me ship date from 12/13 - 12/20.

How come is the T-mobile model so constrained? More people buying or less production?

The apple store had it in store, but T-Mo didn't :-(
Went through T-mobile due to Loss/Theft insurance.
Because the carrier stores aren't priority. Production has a certain obligation to the carriers but until supply is steady those are going to be low priority. Most T-Mobile stores didn't even have phones available for launch. This is pretty standard.

cool.. just in time for Xmas :D Someones gonna be a happy camper, and its not gonna be me

Lovely phone, though about twice as much as I dare spend. #clutches5Swhileadmiringtheheadphonejack

All the early adopters for this regular X have been satisfied. It's the ones waiting for the X Plus now...

Of course they will announce one number. Apple has never broken down sales of particular models.

Although this year is different with the staggered releases... I still don't think they will separate them.

If will be interesting if Apple has another record-setting quarter though.

That would go against the idea that "no one will pay $1,000 for a phone" for the iPhone X

And also the idea that "no one wants a 4-year-old design" for the iPhone 8

On the other hand... they launched in more countries than ever this year (55 countries I think) so it will be difficult to make a true comparison to previous years.

Anywho... Apple will probably be on stage next month bragging about their monster sales. I think that's OK though. It's their prerogative.

When was the last time HTC got up on stage with any sort of good news? :)

Good to see, beating out what analysts and forum analysts anticipated. They should sell a ton this holiday season.

Don't see that happening. Their parts suppliers are reporting that Apple has scaled back on component orders for the X. I think that sound you are hearing is the demand bubble popping.

Didn't I read articles in various e-publications, that Apple improved production capacity, by lowering quality thresholds? Did I "imagine" that article? Although, Apple immediately jumped on it as "fake news". Yet, they were suddenly able to meet production needs. Must have been a "magical" false-negative on the production line.

Maybe the people who have the phones now, can update the rest of us on the quality of the "dot projector" and facial recognition. Are you happy with it??

I'm surprised this is news.

I ordered online because all the stores were out. I ordered Dec 2 and it arrived Dec 5 (original quote was Dec 12)

Maybe yields just improve with time? Face ID works great.
