Unbelievable.

I finally went to a T-Mobile store to do a speed test vs. ATT. T-Mobile was 400+MBs whereas ATT was around 80 (specific to this location).

Went back today to switch and when I got home I barely get any data service period! I called to cancel but they said a 5G tower will be up on July 16th. Maybe I’ll wait wish I knew about this lol!

edit: I was charged $30 per line for setting up in store with employee so if you’re tech savvy order SIM cards online. You’ll need to unlock your phone but with ATT is was super easy and fast!

Might just give this a try. We've been unsatisfied with our ISP and eyeing T-Mobile Home Internet as a possible alternative, since it's literally the only other ISP offering broadband without a data cap at our address. Our only other choices are geostationary satellite ISPs with rigid data caps and low speeds, or the remnants of a DSL ISP that only offers sub-broadband speeds at our address.

What you were told about the tower may or may not be true. I have found that more times than not, CSR will tell you whatever it takes to keep you on the roll.

Doing a speed test in their store is not accurate as they use cell boosters to make the signal appear stronger than it really is.

T-Mobile only allows 250mb of data a month if your roaming in the United States. But if I go to Canada that's across the river for me I receive 5GB per month.

His was exactly my experience with Orange here in Switzerland.

It was only an account for a 3G USB cellular data account for at home.

I knew the rep was lying when he said he was going to call his colleague to have him repoint the antenna in the distant city behind a mountain.

When I got that spiel I cancelled my service. When I got a private cell number I didn’t consider Orange. (Who eventually sold out to Salt and abandoned Switzerland.)

Does not work if you are a former customer of T-Mobile. I am currently on Verizon and had T-Mobile service about five years ago. Tried to use the app to see if it worked better in my current city and it would not let me test.
Same here. Didn't let me use. I was Sprint customer 3 years back.

There is this new invention called wifi calling, you should check it out.
Except when you’re driving down the street trying to get directions with Siri telling you “working on that” got 3 blocks… in home on WiFi works great but the trouble with having p-poor cellular data is not inside the house

I’ll have to try it to see if it works with hotspot, last month I ran out of hotspot data, I can switch carriers and get another 30 gig, right?;)

Now if we could only get all the other carriers their offer the same thing for 30 days then you could have a new phone number and 30 gigs of data every month. :p

OK looks like they’re going to send me a hotspot device for my iPhone 8 Plus. :D
I don’t know if it has to be returned after I’m done or what, I couldn’t see any information about that.

That would be a crazy limitation. Assuming you moved because the T-Mobile network was inadequate to your needs, and given their efforts at modernization and expansion I would think they would like to win you back by showing they’re now competitive.
That is exactly why I was excited to try it. T-Mobile was awful in Chicago, but I now live in Kansas City. I was thinking with the Sprint merger the service would be quite good here. Oh well, if they won't let me test the new network I am happy with Verizon.

i'm already a t-mobile customer, i wonder if i can get better service this way...
I'm a T-Mobile customer too, and I just tried to set this up, but once I submitted my info was informed that I'm already a T-Mobile customer and thus the "Test Drive" program isn't applicable for me :/ So no [easy] way to test the eSIM functionality.

Welp… just tried this. I’m on VZW. I will NOT be switching to TMO!!! Barely get any signal if any (!!!) around my home (where I use the phone the most). IF I got a TMO signal (upstairs), it hovered around 1M or less down and 0.10 up. The map that came up during installation said I was in LTE-only land with FAIR reception…
I was just going to make a post that's almost identical to yours. I'm currently on Verizon and using T-Mobile test drive in my home is virtually impossible with less than 1mbps down and if I get .10-.25 upload it's a miracle. I'm in Chicago.

Brilliant. I actually switched from AT&T to T-Mobile in May since AT&T’s reception kept worsening in my area over the past few years. T-Mobile is also slightly cheaper in my situation as well.

well, that's expected, i guess :) and i've had my service switched to esim for about 2 years now, so that's not the issue :)

One last thing, my iPhone 11 is with Sprint and it said I was already with them so I change the phone number to one of my text now temporary numbers and they let me go ahead and set it up, neat. :p

OK, quick question how do I set different ringtones based on the phone number? I tried creating two separate contacts with different rings but that doesn’t work, I hope Apple didn’t drop the ball on this?

You, traitor, are dead to T-Mobile. Don’t ban me, moderator. It’s a joke.
