I was at the Apple store yesterday and the black Ultra 2 was really nice. A little thick but didn't look bad on wrist. I also thought the 46mm slate titanium and 46mm jet black were appealing too..

They probably have multiple colors when Ultra 1 was lunched, but decided to hold back the black color to create more buzz. Apple probably know that a 2 year upgrade cycle for the Ultra series is better. The watch is a relatively mature product and realistically it is not very practical for annual release of new models (which also explains why the lackluster upgrade). They also started focusing on the software side of things instead of hardware.

Apple Watch is not just tech, it’s fashion. Just like I might buy another pair of shoes exactly the same but a different color swapping your watch for a new look is just as fair. It can be spendy! But nothing wrong with it.

I don't know who copied who but the ps1 classic color (grey) ps5pro sold out fast.
