The difference is negligible, and the Ultra 2 still has watch faces that show more information on the screen.

Overall, I have seen people claim that the Series 10 is somehow more technologically advanced than the Ultra. It’s not, the watches are effectively the same after the update to WatchOS 11. Ultra 2 has speakers, sleep apnea detection, bright screen, strong battery life, etc. The screen size is effectively the same. The Series 10 does have the better viewing angles, but that is a very small thing.
Not true, the screen is better on the Series 10. It has better viewing angles and can update once a second, which is why it can show the seconds on some watch faces when the screen is off. The Ultra 2 cannot do that. The screen cannot refresh once every second when it is not actively being looked at. Whether that is important to anyone is a whole different story, but the screen is better on the Series 10.

I resisted, because my wallet has become flat preordering iPhone 16 Pro Max. o_O
Wanted to upgrade my MacBook Pro with Touch Bar to a newer model but I’m still waiting for M4. Want to upgrade iPad Pro too but ugh…
The black watch looks cool. I might’ve thought twice if black was there when I bought my Apple Watch Ultra 2.

Ah, yes, I remember! You are right! The old polycarbonate MacBooks were indeed more expensive in black than in white!
I sprung for the black, now that I think about it. (That machine was a real scorcher, and I used to use it with a wooden cutting board between it and my lap. Truly do not miss the Intel days...)

There is more screen real estate on the Series 10 and I would want the Ultra 2 to have that two.

I was looking at the comparison chart and it looks like the Ultra 2 has the S9 chip and the Series has the S10. Again, I don't understand why Apple didn't upgrade the Ultra 2 to the S10 chip. Oh well....
Well, you’re not the only one. Not updating the U2 saved me $$$ this year, and my U2 will last me til next Sep, at least.

How do you find the band in terms of pinching arm hairs? I don't live close enough to an Apple Store to try it for myself!
I tried it on for this exact reason... It pinched a little bit. Not a ton? I think I would've gotten past that but I actually found the band to be a bit clunky overall. It didn't glide smoothing through the loops and working the clasp was trickier than I expected... Combined with the slight pinching I opted to stick with my Ultra 1.

I plan to use my Ultra for quite a while and plan to exchange the battery when necessary. I'm thinking my Ultra should give me at least 6 years, hopefully more?

(Sept 9 Keynote) Me: Color only upgrade for my Apple Watch Ultra. I'll pass.

(Sept 20 Availability) Me: Absolutely no way on that color only upgrade. What a joke.

Color and possible loss of blood oxygen sensor functionality, if you have it currently.

But I agree the color rocks. I was very tempted to do so myself until I decided that keeping my sensor was more important to me.

just make sure you have/keep AC+ ...
I will upgrade at the point when these criteria are met:
. Blood oxygen back
. blood pressure trends
. SB
. blood glucose would be icing on the top but I think that is a few more years out
I had those criteria actually for this year and it didn't happen ...
AW for me is a tool, not a "fashion" object. And there is nothing wrong with "fashion" in my comment, it's just not me.

I’m very doubtful blood pressure monitoring will come any time soon.

Blood glucose monitoring (done by the watch without piercing the skin) won’t likely happen any time soon, not even in a few years.

Both monitoring require some kind of regulatory approval with blood glucose probably much more difficult. The current hype around glucose monitoring is Continuous Glucose Monitoring which isn’t actually blood glucose. CGM is monitoring the glucose of the interstitial fluids beneath the skin, and is an accepted proxy for blood glucose measurement. But it is a proxy.

How does it compare to the original Milanese? I love the original but my hairs kept getting stuck and had to constantly adjust the magnet

Still waiting for a titanium version of the link bracelet though

Disagree, while there is a slight improvement in angle viewing on Series 10. The 3000 nit display on the Ultra 2 is absolutely an improvement

Screen real estate means the amount of space available on a display for an application to provide output. While technically true there is a very small difference in screen size. Currently the Ultra shows more information on the display even though the screen is a tiny bit smaller. But that is a software limitation on the Series 10.

I also disagree. From a Youtube video I couldn't see the difference. Maybe it is different in a real life comparison. But the viewing angle is good overall on a 3000 nit display from my Ultra 2 experience.

The screen updating every second is really cool though. But by only working on two watch faces at the moment not worthwhile. It would be different if the whole watchOS makes use of that hardware feature.

I'm in Canada so that excuse is off the table here.

It's nicer than the original Milanese IMO. The clasp is really nice as is the band itself. Very happy with it.
