I randomly worked this out.

Instead of swiping up then pausing and waiting for the app switcher, you can invoke it by quickly making the shape of an upsidedown "L". So swipe up and flick right, all in one motion.

Have a go and tell me what you think.

Edit: I posted a video of it on to twitter :)

got to admit the multitasking/app drawer has been frustrating when closing apps.

Next is reachability.
I think I got it down.
Finer right above home bar.
Slight pressure and run finger down all the Way past/off the screen.

can also be done for the lower app switcher. instead of swiping left to right you can do a U motion and throw down the next app.
You can pull the app up high and toss it down like your throwing it at the bottom of the screen too. Its fun to play with and much quicker than double press of the home button.
the up and over motion like a "r" is the quickest way for the normal multitask

What's the lower app switcher

A similar trick wich i enjoy more is to hold the screen. End your swipe by stopping with your finger instead of stopping in the swiping motion, this also works and shaves off the waiting time.

Beautiful, thank you for the post. Much easier than what I had been doing.

I discovered it by some tweets last night, complaining about 3D Touch app switcher being gone. I can get used to this method, but it still isn't as fast or as intuitive (yet) as the quick 3D Touch swipe.

I have found a flick will go to the home screen and a drag will give you multi tasking. Just be careful when raising your thumb/finger when dragging as it can be registered as a flick.
