iPhone 17 Pro Max You guys aren’t seriously considering buying a “Folding” iPhone Are you ?

People mocked big phones too… until everyone wanted one.
If Apple makes a foldable with zero crease, great battery, and real multitasking, a lot of “never” people will switch fast. The real issue isn’t folding — it’s whether Apple can make it feel useful instead of gimmicky.

I've been on the iPhone train since the OG in 2007. Upgrade every year. Jumped off the Pro Max train for the Air this year. Super cool form factor (reminds me of my favorite touch-ID iPhone, the 7+).

All that said...I'm ready to try something new., haha!!
 
Yse, I actually am.

There are enough unknowns that I’m only “considering it” but I am certainly in that category.

I do a lot of reading on my phone. A large format that still is pocketable would have a lot of value. That is, to a first order, what is rumored. We’ll see about the other details, of which I’m sure there will be many.

At the rumored price, it is thought to be more expensive than an iPhone 18 Pro AND an iPad, but the iPad is not pocketable. I presently do not use an iPad at all, just a phone and either a MacBook (on the road) or a Studio (in, well, the studio).
 
Given that an 11” iPad is just barely big enough for me, there is zero appeal in an even smaller iPad mini folded in half. What advantage is there for an iPad nano in my pocket when an iPad mini is already too small to be particularly useful?

I’m hoping the iPhone Air is still around when I’m ready to upgrade.

Maybe at the price of a normal iPhone PM, but for 1000 more? Nah. Also, probably wait until the 4th gen before I even considered it to see if they finally can make a quality lasting hinge.

Have been waiting for a foldable from Apple for a very long time (ever since the first Galaxy foldable) and was sure until very recently that I will get one at launch. But now with rumors suggesting that it will lack FaceID and telephoto lens, I am not sure anymore. Not having FaceID is something that I can get by but a lack of telephoto lens is a big no for me especially when Z Fold has it.

Most probably, I will skip the upcoming Apple fold. Don't know how long Apple will take to get a telephoto lens into the Fold especially when rumors regarding the wide Z Fold 8 suggest a lack of telephoto lens. I might look into getting the normal Z Fold in the future. It has been 7 years since the first foldable phone and don't think waiting for Apple to implement other changes like FaceID and telephoto lens is going to happen anytime soon.

I've been using foldables since 2022 and can't imagine going back to a slab phone. So, yes, I would consider a foldable iPhone in the future (if the software is done right).

Not the first generation for sure (yes, iPhone Air, I am thinking of you!). I will then check what comes after 18s - Air 2, iPhone XX, etc. and see.
 
Interested in taking a look at it in the Apple Store when it arrives.

But that price point is above what I’m willing to pay
I have a regular 17 and that’s the device line I want to keep having.

My Flex device is my iPad Pro. I watch more on it than on my tv.

What I am interested in seeing is an updated Mini. I want to move away from my iMac and go the Mini route
 
I just got a 17 Pro that I am planning to keep for a few years, so most likely no. It's also going to be very expensive, probably too much for my taste. It's also going to be a first gen product, so I'm curious about the compromises that they will have to make (if any). Let's see in a few years, but right now I have no use for a foldable phone.

I used to change my iPhone every other year, and in the beginning, every year. I currently own the 15PM and I have no desire to upgrade at all. I am just waiting, for the battery percentage to drop into the threshold, where apple will replace the battery.
I'm not fussed about cameras, and the phone does everything I need it to do, without any issues. Kept in a case, so it looks as good as new. If the Apple Watch was standalone, I'd consider dropping the phone, and just having my MBP and a watch.
 
God no. With my eyesight I need the pro max iPhone size. And with my arthritis that’s already more than heavy enough in the hands. Imagine what the weight will be of such a device with all that extra display! And as others have stated, the cameras will be a step down due to form factor and who needs to fold a phone anyway? As a man, my trouser pockets are more than capable of storing easily such a slab of non-foldable glass with a camera built in and battery strapped to the back of the glass. The speakers won’t be as good either.
