I honestly hope you do not get a replacement. You didn't care enough about whatever scratch(that I really don't believe was there when you got it) to deal with it during the return window of TWO WEEKS, it's not like you only had a couple hours or something. I'm sure the hinge started clicking when whatever happened that caused the scratch, but even if it didn't the most Apple should do is fix the hinge. Aside from that, what's the difference between it being fixed or replaced?

I don't want to pay more for my next Mac because you messed yours up and want to blame it on someone else.

because the closest dam apple store is 3 hours away, and i dont drive nor to my parents. everyone i know has a job or is busy with school stuff at university so its not easy to "find a ride" 3 hours into toronto.

i wasnt being reluctant to take it in, i didt have the convience too

anything positive u could say ?

I don't think you will get a replacement with customer relations. It's possible, but very unlikely. They would want to fix it before they replace it. They want to determine if it's deemed replacement worthy. You need to send it in to let them make the decision. You are clearly under AppleCare. However AppleCare doesn't grant you a replacement for a scratch. Yes, you paid a lot for it, but guess what you aren't the first one to make a purchase that big and have what I feel is buyers remorse because you want a new one. You can always sell it and buy a different machine that will be problem free. But it sounds like you have a good machine and you say it has a small problem, which I'm sure apple can fix for you. Good luck!

PS. Stop your whining. It shows your age.

So are you taking it back because of a scratch or the poo smell? If it is the latter, I don't suppose that is covered under the warranty.

ROFL, FYI if the unit has any bodily fluid or material on or in it, it's considered a biohazard and is not eligible for ANY in our out of warranty service.

If you have the time check out my thread: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/911074/

In summary it took around 5 weeks to get a replacement.

Apple paid for shipment to their ASP, but after the first 'repair' I still had problems. It then got sent away again to another ASP because the first one told me one thing and Apple CR another thing (basically lying to cover their back from what they said to me)

I spoke to 2 Apple Customer relations representatives, which in total I would estimate 20 hours on the phone just to Apple, then another 3 on the phone to the ASP.

Eventually I received a brand new unit and a free Wireless keyboard for the trouble. Apple also upgraded the processor from i5 to i7, for free without telling me, so it was a nice surprise when I opened it.

Apple also argued with me about sending it in, but I stated that I bough online as it's too far to an apple store, and I was at uni. Always be polite to whomever you are dealing with too...

ddid u have to talk to like a supervisor or the customer relations guy had all the power to do anything i suppose? lol

lmao imagine an Apple tech opening up the box for the first time after it's been in transit in the summer heat.

i couldnt take it to apple cause the closest store is 3 hours away!

They do offer mail inservice, but you choose not too. I think you should just expect a repair. They won't give you a replacement. Be satisfied with that and move on bro.

mail in service was only offered in the US not in canada...which sucks

plus 6 hours and a few more of time to go there ad back

i drove 7 hours to new jersey to pick up a macbook cause it was a good deal. if the damage on your macbook bothers you as much as you say it does than 60 dollars and a 6 hour trip should be worth it.

if not, i guess the only thing you can do is to deal with it. :)

what was the deal? 7 hours is a fa r drive lol

exactly. so i dont understand why your complaining about your macbook so much when you won't even sacrifice the 60 dollars or the time.

in all seriousness though, if you think going to the store is too expensive the best thing you can do is to just forget about those scratches. buy a incase or something. :apple:

round trip costs 60 dollars

plus 6 hours and a few more of time to go there ad back

If you cant fork out 60bucks and some of your precious time why bother coming here and bitching about apple to us? the time it wouldve taken you to make all these posts about the laptop( eg. your brother taking a dump IN it) you couldve got on a bus and had it fixed by now.

If is that much of a problem you wouldve made the effort to to hop on a bus and have it sorted.

If I was that unhappy with a $2000 investment, spending another 5% to have it fixed wouldn't be a bog deal.

this man makes a very valid point.

my closest apple store is about 2 hours travel plus another hour waiting between trains, if my $2500 macbook had problems i wouldnt give it a second thought about making the trip.

Thanks for quoting me, now I see I typo'd and said "bog deal," what's a bog deal? I meant to say big deal. (not sure if /sarcasm really fits, but I assume you get what I mean)

From what I see, you still wouldn't be happy if Apple sent you a new laptop, and then said "you know what, you can keep the old one too."

You don't have many options, so you should either start a warranty repair process or live with your machine.

^ This! Get it fixed multiple times or deal with it :p
