Thanks! I was actually there for a while setting up for sunset (got there early) and clouds blew in and messed up the shot. So I stuck around until it got dark and took a few snaps, these were the best, IMO.

Both were shot same day using Canon 7D and Canon 35mm f/2.

Bench shot was:
ISO:100
f/6.3
6 seconds

Skyline shot was:
ISO:100
f/6.3
15 seconds

Here's a different variation on the bench I liked but not as much.

Great photos of some of the best views in Seattle. I lived on Beacon Hill from '79-'81. The Smith Tower was the tallest building on the skyline (It's the "tall" building with the pointed roof on the left of the frame, for those from other areas).

Great images. What city is this?
Morrison.jpg

Yes, it is Portland. We were heading back from The Gorge and there was a barge/boat (can see the streaks from it on the lower right). I was lucky as I timed it correctly and was at the right place at the right time. Quickly set up my tripod and I think this is a 30 second exposure, not sure. The bridge was going down when I took this.

I will have to add Abdali to my future travel plans.

London Skylines

Wow, some great shots here! The first Seattle photo is especially fine, and the first of the Boston bench photos, which I remember from POTD, still looks great. It looks like a film or stage set, waiting for some drama to begin ...

Here are a couple that I have taken, both with the iPhone, which was the only camera I had with me at the time.

This one is an evening shot from last September, showing a new building on Bishopsgate and Tower 42 (used to be the NatWest Tower).

This is a shot of a Lancaster bomber and a Spitfire, taken during a flypast on 7 September 2010 to mark 70 years since the start of the Blitz. It was moving seeing those great old planes flying over London. The church in the foreground is Christ Church Spitalfields and the Dome (now 02 Centre) can be seen behind it.

Clicky to see them on black.

As beautiful as Toronto and Vancouver are (and Montreal too), I'm biased towards my wonderful home city of Calgary, AB.

New York City Skyline

This was a shot taken from a Cessna 172 flying up the Hudson River. It was taken late morning.

Boston and a Frozen Charles River

I took this photo while I was in Cambridge one Saturday afternoon in January of 2011. I was driving by when I just had to stop to take a few shots, I've always been intrigued with skylines and this one says it all for all fans of the City Boston

New York City Sunrise

This photo was taken from Newark N.J. Airport. I was sitting in the terminal for an early morning flight when the sun started to come up above the city. Some of the sun flairs are due to shooting through 4-5 pains of glass windows, couldn't help that. This photo was also published in USA today for the weather page in Nov 2009

BTW...Quick question

What resolution are you guys saving/uploading your pics for this thread? I figured mine would come out a bit larger, and in a bit better condition...but that's not to be:confused:

I'm saving them with PS as a 1024x768 shot and using the paperclip (attach) in the "Reply to Thread" editor...always been curious, is there a better way?

Thanks;)

I link them from another website, because MR downsizes them and makes them a clickable image to enlarge.
