I wasn't yet a teenager then, but Vector had their shop just down the street from where I spent my early years, so I was a fanboy. And yep, I also drooled over Crockett's white Testarossa. :)

I was a huge Miami Vice fan and a car nut, so I loved both cars (even though the Daytona was a kit car), but the Testatossa really caught my eye.

Ferrari: As cool as Magnum made the 308 look, a lot of Ferrari fans don't like it or the Testarossa. I always wanted a Testarossa in white, since that's what Sony Crockett drove. That was an exception to my Ferraris must be red rule. :)

pah a ferrari has to be yellow.. as it's the traditional ferrari color (giallo modena)

The rotary engine Mazda RX-7 was a great buy at $10,000. It sounded like a jet engine when revved. Not a great era, though. 80s cars pretty much fell apart by 90,000 miles.

I always wanted a Fiero and was totally bummed out when they stopped making them.

Another typical GM job. They introduce something that isn't all that great at first, then tweak it until it's pretty good. Then they kill it. See Buick Grand National. The last Fiero GT models with the revised styling and the V6 were actually pretty fun little cars.

I loved the Camero IROC-Z.

What is it about Camaro that makes everyone spell it Camero? It's not even pronounced like Camero, it sounds like CamAro, as it is.

Sorry, just a pet peeve of mine having owned one for 12 years.

Specifically the first generation, otherwise it wouldn't be the eighties.

+1 gotta love the miatas!!!

i have to say the 1987 mustang was a fav of mine..

btw im a mustang fan (own an 05 havily modded conv v6)

MR2s, Fieros

1980s - women still promoting cars; prefer silver with black targa and engine cover:

The 1970s 1300 looks the best; bumpers plus lower engine cover:

Lucky it wasn't the X1/9(2+2);)

Cheers,
OW

2 of my favorites have been mentioned on this page - the 1988 Dodge Daytona & the 1981 Delorean.

2 have been missed though - I LOVE the 1988 Monte Carlo, and I had a buddy with a 1989 Subaru XT6.

That XT6 (not the I4 turbo XT pictured, nooo..:)) was an absolute blast to drive, especially in the Winter, with its 4WD. That car took so much abuse from him. It finally died a sad death 3 years ago. The interior was way ahead of its time, too, kind of like the Daytona was. The XT6 was the "flying black doorstop of greatness". Ah, memories.

Damn, you beat me to it. As usual - the answer to practically any car question - The Miata. I own a '95R. She is a feisty little bitch. ;)

Lots of other great cars mentioned that I love too. Fox body Mustangs, IROC Camaros, Lambo Countach, 959, Nissan 300ZX, Toyota MR2, Lancia Delta Integrale and so on.

740 GLE? Yes! It was my folks' only car for a bit. That thing was a brick (it survied my dad's automotive abuse for several years until it was t-boned...I miss it :( )

Gotta go with the car that held the Guinness world record for 0-60 for over a decade. Ford RS200 Evo.

Aside from all the other cars mentioned like the Delorean, Grand National, Testerossa and Countach, I've always liked the Jeep Grand Wagoneer

My first SVO, it was not a solid running car, but it looked alright, and thats mostly what mattered to me when I was 18.

My current SVO, it is much better running but looks like junk.

I just picked up this 1988 Thunderbird TurboCoupe for $825. It has been parked under a tree for about 6 years and came with TONS of spare parts, including a spare trans for the above SVO and my beater '82 Econoline. I spent about 3 hours washing it last week and it didn't come out too bad. I got it running last night and spent some time tinkering with it today.

Hello,
great shot of yourself and the VECTOR!
Your Countach has become famous in the VECTOR fan community after it was shown with the silver VECTOR and the red Testarossa:
